  1. NVC will tell you to allow 20 days for processing. So you just have to call them at least twice per week until they tell you the case is completed or if something is missing.

They normally send an email advising of such. Then you will have to wait for an interview date, they say that April is fully booked they just started scheduling for May. I got my date yesterday for May 21 and my case was completed on March 13.

There is a thread (May Interview 2013) somewhere on here where you can add your information and view other VJ’ers information to get an idea of how long they wait for their interview date.

  2. You should definately send the police record along with the DS-230.

You can pay at your tax office $2000 for express and $1000 for 21day service. If you go to Kingston for the police record you can wait and get it back same day if you pay for express. If you do it in Mobay you have to wait five days for express service.

  3. Posted in NVC but also posting in this forum since it relates to K1 visa. NVC received and assigned my case number on 3/21. I called today and was told it can take 2-4 weeks for processing. I see plenty of people, even those with the same beneficiary country where NVC processes and sendd within 2-3 days. Even when looking at K1 stats it states that NVC is processing as 3/22/2013. Has anyone been in my scenerio and has successfuly been able to get special attention to your file and have it sent right away? i.e like going to a supervisor for further investigation. At this point I am not waiting up to a month and then another month and a half before my fiance gets his visa. It seems arbitary that some get in and out in days and other do not.

I did call to update the beneficary's address once the case was approved. I also updated the beneficiary's email a couple of days ago. Would this have any affect with NVC "administrative process"? Does anyone know exactly what is the NVC Administrative Process for K1's?

This how it works; NVC waits for the interview date to be assigned then notify u and ur spouse, then send DS 230 and other docs to Kingston. You can call Dept of State at 202 663 1225. My husband called last week and was told Kingston was fully booked for the remainder of March and all of April and he should call back mid April for a date.

Let us know what you find out from them.

  4. it was the man I do believe Michael Banbury.. Yes they did a urine test and a blood test is he the doctor that insures that is will be documented the use of it..

    Hey Samie,

I found this and hopes it helps; http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3745.html#_What_should_the_1

Here is an excerpt: What if the applicant has been treated or hospitalized for psychiatric or mental illness, or alcohol or drug abuse?

Applicants treated or hospitalized for psychiatric or mental illness or alcohol or drug abuse must present written certification including the diagnosis, duration of treatment rendered, and prognosis.

I dont think he should be denied since he was not treated for drug abuse. Let us know how the interview work out for you. Keeping my fingers crossed on this.

  5. Hello guy, I've just received the NOA2 yesterday and I am getting ready with all the documents needed in this NVC step.

    1. Affidavit of Support- since I live in Brazil with my wife, what can I do about that? Do I have to fill an I-864 in my name and another one on co-sponsor's name?

    2. Should I contact NVC now or should I wait around 30 days as they said in the NOA2?

    thanks for now

    Go to this website:www.immigrantvisas.state.gov/

When u call NVC they will tell u to allow 20 days for updates.

  6. My husband is filling out his DS-230 and he does not know what to write for question 31a, which states , "Person(s) named in 14 and 29 who will accompany you to the United States now." For question 14 he has obviously written my name, but I am the LPR who is petitioning him, so should he leave 31a blank?

    Thanks a lot.

He should put N/A if he is the only one you are petioning for. (question 31a).

For question 14 your name should be there.

For Question 29 if your husband does not have children he should put N/A.

  8. We started calling right away when we check case status and found out we were approved on 1/25/13. They tell us the information was received from USCIS but it is not yet entered in the system we should allow 20 days. We called back on 2/13 and was told that it was entered in system just today 2/13/13 and should allow 20 days for the case #. On valentines day (2/14) we received an email with an attachment asking to complete and submit the choice of agent form (ds_2036) and pay $88 for OAS.
