great news before the long weekend
application approved, Green Card is in production as of Sep 04, 2015 -
I know that this would not sound fair to all the VSC folks, but I am wondering why my CSC approval is taking this long. Almost a third of the May CSC filers have received their approvals

I am back on here after a while, need to file for my ROC ASAP (2yr GC expires in April)
1. Can someone point me to good resources to read/review on the process of filing I-751? details on what to include in the packet?
2. What do I need to file in addition if I expect to travel internationally before getting this 10yr GC?
3. Whats the earliest day that I can apply for my citizenship...3yrs since first GC which would make it Apr 2016?

We have our interview scheduled for this week - can someone provide me with a check list of documents that are recommended to be carried to it? Thanks in advance

Breathe. Go for a run. Send your employers copies of the email that says the card's status. Wait. That's all you can do for now.
Hoping for a great photo finish for you,
BB
I got the EAD last night, went to DMV first thing today morning - waited 3+ hrs to get my temporary license! Filling out new I-9 at work, hope I can finish that by end of day today

Did you get a new update saying the card was mailed? I got mine 8 days after the first card production email. 2 days after the "card mailed" update.
I haven't received any updates on the card being mailed
But its been the norm since I have not seen any e-notices come through except for initial acknowledgment receiptsWell you gain nothing from worrying about things you cannot change
You are absolutely right that there is nothing I can do to change anything in this situation except plan for all possible outcomes

Relax. You'll have a couple of days of unpaid vacation, big deal
I wish I could - but I am venting since I find this as a safe zone. I could do without this sort of stress at work and in life in general

2 more days till I can no longer legally work and drive - still no sign of the EAD card

-
I had the same problem . It said my EAD was shipped on March 19th , then I had the AOS interview on the 21st and I got another email saying my EAD is being shipped March 22nd. Also for the greencard I got a " card production " email on the 21 and another one on the 22 nd. I think there is something odd about the computers right now
Thanks Mariana - I am hoping to get it before Mar 29
Nope, they always do that. You'll get 3 messages about it. It's fine.
It is a tricky system to say the least
Aggreed with Harpa. There are several Card Production updates, it's normal. Check my timeline, I detailed mine.
One thing though, is that, I believe, your EAD is approved, so you are allowed to work. The date on your EAD card will be the date of your approval. It was like that for my green card, the approval date was the first day of my permanent residency (starting date on my GC).
You should be fine to continue working even if your EAD is still not in the mailbox. Anyone can confirm, please?
I have been told that I need the card in my possession in order to continue working. Thanks for the support

Its strange - when I went to check status online, hoping to see that my EAD had been shipped - I noticed that the message had changed dates for when the card was ordered for production. Whereas previously it said that card was ordered on Feb 19, now it says it was ordered of Feb 22. This is disconcerting given the timelines I am working on
any ideas on what this means? -
this friday or next friday?
Next friday!
It usually takes about a week to receive the card from when card production is ordered, so you should just get it in time.
I hope I do...thanks for the positive vibes
-
Strangely enough I got a pleasant surprise when I tried to check the case status. The status now reads that on Mar 19, USCIS has ordered production of the EAD card. Lets see if I can get it before my H1-B expires next Friday
-
Thanks for the clarifications - helps to know that you do not have to wait for EAD if you already have your I-485 approved
I am hoping to work out something at my current employer whereby I can re-start as soon as I have my EAD or GC approval in hand -
I am aware of the government stipulated 90 day timeline. But having been scheduled for an interview already I am hoping for a faster issuance! If AOS is approved, does USCIS need to expedite the EAD?
-
Thanks for your respective inputs. My job that pays for my bills is on the line - hence the anxiety. Prior to applying, I was told that it takes 4-6 weeks to get the EAD card but that has not been the case for me
I am here to confirm if any of this has to do with my current H1-B visa -
I have been waiting patiently to get my EAD card - nothing has changed in the last 7 weeks. I have read that this process runs in parallel to the AOS I-485 application but I am beginning to think that nothing here would change till I have my interview on Apr 10. Could this have something to do with me being on H1-B currently? It doesn't help that my H1-B visa expires end of this month and without an EAD this would restrict my current employment

Hi Guys,
I sent my Aos package off last week but I only applied for ead and im now seeing its a combo card and i could've applied for AP as well. Is it too late to apply for AP. Will it be a problem EAD and AP applications not arriving together? thanks.
P.S. It just dawned on me that this process might take longer than avg after reading some horror stories of AOS taking a year or more! Thanks as usual for the help.
you can send you I-131 (AP petition) while your I-485 is still under review. I recommend you wait for the I-797 notices to arrive so you can apply with the right A#
-
Congratulations - thanks for sharing your experience
-
I sent in my applications around the same time, you should get something by mail - wouldn't be surprised if you get scheduled for April
-
I was able to use my I-797 to extend my driving license for 6 months, which gave me enough time to get my greencard - so try using that.
I think it varies by state though, and also by who is looking after you at the counter.
Regarding EAD, mine took about 6 weeks after my biometrics. Interestingly enough, all my employer wanted was my I-94 once my visa expired, and as that was dated past my visa expiration date, they were happy to keep me on. It won't reflect badly on you if you keep on working, so I'd keep quiet and keep that paycheck coming in - if at all possible. It's your employer's responsibility to make sure they are hiring people in compliance. And to be honest, the govt in cases such as ours is usually happy we are working and paying taxes, particularly if we are pre-citizens. :-)
I will look into this, not sure if California DMV is that flexible when it comes to giving DL extensions. I had my Biometrics of Feb 5 - next week would make it 6 weeks but nothing seems to have changed on USCIS. My employer has all the right updates and will be following the legal procedures/guidelines

A couple of weeks ago I wanted to know how you can get the EAD card faster and someone here recommeded to make an INFOPASS appt for it and if it gets approved you will get it in th mail in 10 days. i haven't done it myself but that is what someone here said they did successfully
Mariana - I looked it up but it seems like you have to wait 90 days before you can setup an INFOPASS appointment

I wanted to share my experience regarding the processing time for my AOS. We filed I-485, I-130, I-131 and I-765 at the end of December 2012, and I have already successfully completed a GC interview, approved on spot.
The AOS interview notice came only about 5-6 weeks after the forms were filed, and 3 weeks before my EAD and Advance Parole travel document was approved. My whole process took about 2.5 months. As other people said, I believe it may depend on the location you file. Good luck to everyone!!

Thanks for your input anvemo - appreciate the insight! At this point, I am hoping to get my EAD asap so that I can continue working at my current employer. Based on your above timeline - how long did it take for you to get your EAD in hand? 8-9 weeks?
-
Thanks for the input - I love California but the DMV is not making it easy even after us paying such high taxes
I will call to check if there is a way to pre-pone and update on that
