Leave the spaces blank if not applicable, thats what my husband did for the I-864 new version but for the DS230 we wrote N/A on the spaces. good luck!
Thanks!
Also, it doesn't say in the I-864a form instructions to leave the spaces blank, so should we leave them blank like the I-864 or write NONE?
Also it states in the instructions that you must provide proof that the joint sponsor has the same principle residence as the sponsor. What would we use to prove this? Separate bank statements from my husband and his father stating the same postal address?
Any suggestions welcome!!

We are getting the I-864 ready to send off. This is an exact extract from the instructions -
3. Answer all questions fully and accurately. If an item is not applicable or the answer is none, leave the space blank.
Did any of you do this and receive an RFE? I'm wondering if there is conflicting advice, as I have read to NOT leave any spaces blank as it can cause and RFE?
Many thanks!

i just call NVC and they said my case is now compeleted BUTTTTTT she said that they are already full for june and july and i have to get one in AUG sooo its a waiting game agaiiiiiiin
That sucks!!!! My case has only just gotten to the NVC and I was hoping for it to be finished in July and get an August interview!! Seems that dream has just slipped away
-
RFE = request for evidence. It's when they ask for more documents or a correction on a form. We just got one from nvc for writing "1" instead of "2" - frustrated is not the word!
Couldn't you file for DCF?
You could also try to request an expidite because your visa is running out? Some people say you can't request expedite unless its life or death - but I don't believe that. If you don't ask you don't get!
I agree with the if you don't ask you don't get! If I might ask, what were the grounds that you requested your expedite? I really want one!!! Although I'm a lot less stressed now as I get to see my husband for 12 blissful days in Portugal after not seeing him for 4 months
-
what are RFE's? this is really uplifting to read! We've been married for about 18 months and have lived together in the UK for about 18 months, so we have pretty similar cases! If we are as lucky as you we could hopefully be looking for an interview by October/November time?
I'm not quite sure if the case number does or not but I feel like I read that somewhere. Do you know what your case number started with?
RFE's are requests for evidence if you have forgotten to send something, or written something incorrectly in the forms. If you followed the USCIS guidelines you should be ok!
Hopefully you will get an October/November/December interview! Xxx

Mayb,
Our I-130 took about 2.5 months to be approved, that was with no RFE's. I have seen ppl on this forum who have taken 8 months to get approved, but ours was quite straight forward (married 18 months, lived together in UK for 12 months).
We sent it to Chicago lockbox but found out later it was actually forwarded and processed in the Baltimore field office. I wasn't aware that the case number told you where it was. Mine started the same as yours.
The case number usually does tell you where your case number is:
CSC - California service centre
VSC - Vermont service centre
TSC - Texas service centre
NSC - Nebraska service centre
MSC - National Benefits Centre or NBC (previously known as the Missouri Service centre, hence the MSC code)
As per this notice by the USCIS (http://tinyurl.com/9qkp6wf) all stand alone I-130's are being sent to the NBC where they can either remain there or be forwarded on to a local field office. Sme are, some are not. Mine was sent to the Philadelphia field office, but they do not tell you this, you either have to phone and ask for a tier 2 advisor and ask if it has been sent on, or in our case get your local senator involved, who found out where our case was and when it had been sent there
-
My I-130 application was received on June 10. When I go to the USCIS website and enter my case number (it starts with MSC) it gives me the option to check processing times but only for the Vermont Service Center. If my case number starts with MSC doesn't that mean it went to a different location?
It is still showing that the USCIS National Average processing time for the I-130 is 6.6 months. How much longer on average after the acceptance of the I-130 does it take to get your interview? I'm guessing it all depends on case by case basis?
I'm also a little worried, my package was very black and white, just giving them exactly what was asked for on the I-130 directions. I did not include a cover letter or anything. I'm really nervous now that this will come back to us.
I was reading somewhere on this boards that if you file at the Chicago Lockbox facility from abroad with an international address your case may be expedited. Are people still seeing this happening?
I don't think any of these questions can really be answered. I'm just so stressed out and so ready to move back home and my UK visa expires in January and we aren't looking to extend it. This is an incredibly frustrating situation and all our fault because we didn't start the processes sooner!
Hi there
Firstly don't panic, I know this is a very scary and confusing process, but at least you are still with your spouse which is lovely, I haven't seen my husband in four months.
Hopefully your case will be fine as you followed the USCIS guidlines, but from now on scour Visa Journey and read up on the next steps so you are head of the game. The first post on this forum gives you step by step details of the NVC process (after your visa approval) and it would be prudent for you to look at it now-
http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/370651-nvc-filers-june-2012/
Your case number starts with MSC because as of this press release by the USCIS (http://tinyurl.com/9qkp6wf), all stand alone I-130's are being sent to the NBC and the forwarded onto your local field office (the one being nearest where you will me moving back to in the states, you can figure out which Is yours by going here and typing in your zip code - http://tinyurl.com/2rjwce)
This is a good thing, as the NBC cases are being processed relatively fast! As you are filing from abroad, your case may remain at the NBC and not be sent onwards to a local office. Cases filed from abroad are taking anywhere from 1-3 months, so hopefully this is still the case. What I did with mine was enter my MSC code into the USCIS website and then change the last numbers, so I could see how many of those either side of mine were being approved. My husband contacted our local senator when, after under 2 months, most around my case had already been approved. She looked into it, found that it was at the Philadelphia field office, and although they cannot do anything to speed up the process I am convinced her inquiry lead to my approval on May 14th.
The case took 1 month to reach the NVC (and MANY emails & phone calls to the NVC & the senators office to find out where it was, as it should usually take less than 3 weeks from your NOA2(approval) for you to receive and NVC case number)
The speed at the NVC is variable, but you can see people's statistics here - http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/irstats.php
The speed at the NVC also depends on how prepared you are, have a long read through the first post with Saylin quoted here as to what happens in this process and what you need to start doing now-
http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/370651-nvc-filers-june-2012/
I am hoping we will be done with the NVC in a month so I can hopefully have an August interview.
I hope this helps, and the very best of luck to you! At least you are together
Xxxx

I went through every avenue available but eventually it was uscis that took care of it, albeit pretty high up on the food chain and no I do not have any special contacts, I can be.. let's say extremely difficult to deal with. I contacted my rep and congressman, nvc, spscatta, omnibudsman, and a few others which shall be nameless. I was able to generate a service request within uscis before their scripted 90 day window. I have filed two service requests for different things there, never got paper confirmation, but both items were resolved. all agencies needed some stupid time frame of three weeks minimum until they got back to me.. that was not acceptable to me since I knew exactly where the file was.
the most important thing you can do is argue from facts. my argument was two fold: 1. my noa2 statement that it was sent to the nvc; 2. confirmation at my infopass that the file was in the local office still.
in hindsight I should have sat at the office until it was resolved.. requesting the supervisor of the 130 unit which I did not do. the week after my infopass and after contacting everyone imaginable, I finally started getting some action.
every time I went for an infopass, I would reschedule another appointment.
spend a good deal of time searching threads for additional information.. do not argue that so and so's petition reached nvc or make mention of visa journey members. if I referenced anything it was a reference to a friend.
Thank you for taking the time to reply to me. It's so frustrating for me because I am so much like you, I do not take no for an answer and I will continue to push until I get my way, however my husband is totally useless when it comes to that sort of thing. He keeps telling me there is nothing he can do and we will just have to wait the 90 days!!!
Because of your reply I have now sent it on to him and told him to do all of the things that you did, and be more forceful about the situation.
Also, how long after you started to ask questions and call etc did your case arrive at the NVC? I see you were approved on April 19th and your case was received 7th June, but at what stage did you start asking for answers?
Thank you again for taking the time to reply to me!
-
I highly recommend an infopass!
darnell's threads have all the questions you will need
be nice, but be relentless
I was approved april 19 and after shaking trees, it finally got to nvc last friday
Thanks for the advice!! Did you go through your senators office too, or just an info pass? That's such a long time, I'm so sorry it took forever to get to the NVC, hopefully now you can carry on with the next stage!!

Hi guys,
I'm wondering if anyone else is in the same/has been in the same boat as me.
My I-130 was approved on May 14th at the Philadelphia field office, and when we rang the NVC a week later were told the 15 working days story, and that our case was there but we would need to wait the 15 days until we got our number. However on the 15th working day we were told that our case was NOT at the NVC and we should wait 90 days until we receive a case number from them as it can take that long for them to get the case?!? #######!
My husband then phoned the USCIS and spoke to a tier 2 supervisor and was told by the guy that he "does not have the information" as to where our case is. I thought they were supposed to be able to tell where it is?!? I'm assuming it should still be at the field office? I'm really scared that it may have been lost!
We have asked our senators office to try and track it down and ask why we were told one thing then another, but I just wondered if this is normal or how I should proceed? I cannot believe they say it takes 3 months to post a stupid case file!!! My hopeful hopeful dreams of a July or August interview are slipping away

Good luck and please update your timeline xxxthanks for your replies. will send the old one and see what happens

I called to NVC this morning about my AOS package. I sent this with new I-864. The lady said as usual that they did not receive any instruction from immigration about how to review the new form. She also mentioned that they are only accepting the new forms.
hoping and praying eagerly so that this issue is solved at NVC immediately. thanks
The old form is still valid until June 23rd, as listed on the USCIS website where you download the I-864 forms so the woman is talking #######!
-
Our AOS, DS3032, 230 were sent by mail in 20th may, delivered by 22th, just called to NVC, it's still pending, information wasnt set to system yet.... The girl on line said it may take 3-6 weeks... not sure
In your AOS packet, did you send in the new I-864 form, or the old one?
Many thanks!
-
Thank you so much i appreciate your reply ,i have just got approved ,i don't know how much time i need to wait to get a case number then be able to send out the AOS package so i have to wait and see what NVC is up to.
thanks again.
No problem at all perhaps also ask the question about the old and new forms at the NVC when you ring for your case number, to get more info on it, but I've found that they lie! They told my husband that they are processing the new I-864's, where on the thread I just sent you people are saying that the NVC is NOT processing them at all yet!
I also just got my number so I'm really hoping that we get to send in our AOS packets before June 23rd and so we skip the massive queue of new I-864's that are building up!
-
Does these imply also to the I-864EZ version as well. Because that is the one that I need to fill out. I will PM you so you could email me that version. Thanks!
I am unsure as to if its also the I-864EZ version. Does anyone else know?
Perhaps ask this question on the new I-864 thread I sent you?
-
Thanks i just ordered them online
in the new AOS form 864 ,can you please tell me what's the difference between current individual income in part 6 question 5 and part 6 question 13a most current year.
what should i put in each one.?
thanks again for you instant replies.
I would VERY strongly advise that you fill out the OLD I-864 form if you are planning on sending in your AOS packet before June 23rd.
The new forms have been out on hold for over a month now because the NVC has no idea how to process them! If you send in the new form it could seriously delay your application.
See this thread for more details:
http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/430958-new-i-864-version/
If you would like the old I-864 form, you can find it here:
http://jassi.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/i-864.pdf
They are still accepting this form until June 23rd.
If you need the I-864a form, private message me and I can email it to you as soon as I have a copy
-
Correct me but if your children are getting income (death of parent insurance) it comes i their name.
You can't use that can you?
I mean a minor can't complete a I-864A and have the income considered. Correct.
Anyone.
Here is the answer you are looking for:
Sponsorship Requirements
A sponsor must be at least 18 years old and either an American citizen or a lawful permanent resident (LPR). The sponsor must also have a domicile (residence) in the United States.
Taken from this website - http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3183.html
I hope that helps!
-
Also a question: on the USCIS website link for the I-864 it states this -
Edition Date :
03/22/13. USCIS will accept previous editions dated 09/19/11 until June 23, 2013. After June 23, 2013, USCIS will only accept the 03/22/13 edition.
But the older version here -
http://jassi.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/i-864.pdf
Is dated 09/30/2012
Is that an issue? Thank you
-
Thanks I needed that one too! Where can I find a copy of the co-sponsor form, the I-864a also?
Thank you very much!!!
-
That would be really great if everything goes fine without original. I emailed service center about this matter yesterday. Let's see how they gonna reply. I am trying to maintain testimony as much as possible so that I can show them if I asked for original.
Thanks
Might I suggest you get in touch with your local senators office to see if they can help? Although the certified copy of the certificate (if issued by the same authority) will do, I'm sure you will feel, better if you get the original back. Call the senators office and explain your issue and that you do need it asap and the issues you have faced with trying to get it, perhaps they can ask and thus speed up the process for you, or at least offer you some clarification on when you may get it back?
Good luck
ALSO: does ANYONE have a copy of the old version of the I-864a for me?!? It was issued at the same time as the new I-864 form (that's causing major delays for some) and I'm scared to send the new one with the old I-864 I'm sending. I'm sure it will have the same delaying issues.
Please let me know if you have the previous version you can send to me thank you very much for your help!!
-
Called NVC just now....Our case is COMPLETE yesterday and interview scheduled.....just waiting for an e-mail to see for what date! Took 8 business days to complete it
Congrats!!!!!
Can I ask why it took you so long to pay the AOS bill? Or did you pay it when it was created and that's how long it took for them to process the payment? I'm hoping to get our number soon so I can send in the old I-864 form!!
plzzzzzzzz frainds
what's the different between I-864 and I-864a
The I-864 is the form the petitioner has to fill in, and the I-864a is the form a co sponsor will need to fill in. For example my husband is filling in the I-864 and his father is our co sponsor, so he is filling out the I-864a I hope this clears things up for you!

Hi I'm just wondering how this turned out? My husband was a student fr the last 3 years so we are using his father as a joint sponsor. Wild you advise sending his last 3 years as well as an employment letter, as well as pay stubs? We are trying to avoid and RFE if possible! His father earns over $100,000 a year, well above the poverty line!
Many thanks!
