Brens47 reacted to RhettVoe in Getting married on a Tourist Visa while waiting on I-129f & adjusting status
The problem is our laxity with our laws....we have a K1 visa, a visa in which an eventual AOS is programmed....but people want to shortcut the process....many, who were not successful convincing a VO of their intentions (whatever they were), post their unhappiness here and on other sites, so everyone can commiserate with them, and point fingers at those mean VOs and our 'unfair laws', etc....in reality, it's people like the OP and others who clearly knew they were not going to live up to the terms of a tourist visa, so she should have been refused. Other young women from her country will now face even more scrutiny than before (because the AOS paperwork copies are sent to our embassies, to be shared amongst the VOs)...
my former employee thought it amusing that they had managed to fool a VO and our border folks, acting as if they did something clever. Perhaps the VO was more understanding or sympathetic than most (almost always a mistake)...and why the Amcit was allowed anywhere near the interview window is a mystery to me....but now we have seen the true side of this pair....and they have no qualms about having fudged the truth...they both knew the K1 process was going to take some time...to try and rationalize or justify their decision to do an end run around the process by claiming they 'suddenly' realized how long the process would take is about as believable as Jimmy Swaggert.
In the case of my former employee, well, her view of having fooled the VO, etc, and mocking them did little to amuse me. She was upset on Monday....I told her if she didn't like my decision, take it up with her new husband. If she wanted her job back, send her new spouse back home to wait out the process....not surprisingly, she declined that option. She thought I was mean. Maybe she's right. Don't care. What people do outside of my purview is their business, but she and the new spouse went over the line as far as I was concerned, and I don't want people like that (whose ethics are a mirage) working for me.

    Frivolous?
They had the option to avoid the issue and chose not to take it for whatever reason.

The car maybe insured, but not with you as the driver, and the insurance company will not pay the claim, as you were driving illegally.

I know a Canadian in his 40s who married a Philippine woman in her 20s and lives happily in the Philippines with her and their 2 children, there's no Canadian citizenship, & no green card. I know several men from all over the world who have done that and work in the Philippines happily with their young, beautiful brides.
You're passing judgement based on your opinion, you do not have facts, statistics, or statements from the people involved regarding their reasons for the relationship. You have nothing but assumptions, suppositions, and a few previous cases where this happened in the past; which has happened all across the world and is not limited to the Philippines.
Regardless, it's their decision to get romantically involved. I'm sure there are plenty of older men who get involved with "Gold Diggers" knowing that's exactly who these women are, and simply don't care.
If you want to open a debate regarding this "issue" there's a forum for debates and general discussion. Someone's thread asking for assistance is simply not the place.

Brens47 reacted to didopage in notifying about marriage
By "notifying your marriage to the USCIS", the employee meant that you have to apply for AOS (with your married name). Once you get your EAD or green card, whichever comes first, you will be able to return to the SSA, show them your card and they will update your name on their system. You will then receive a new SS card.
You don't have to go to your local USCIS office now. You apply to AOS/EAD/AP by mail.

    Aloha!
In our personal case we did scan-email printed signatures and we spent the whole processing time if we were going to get a RFE. Thanks God we were approved without any problems, but for my anxious experience I recommend doing it the right way lol, I know it sounds crazy, I just remember my constant anxiety wondering what will happen...
    Good luck!

    I Love You True
    I love you true
No matter the miles in queue
    Nothing can split us two
Even if our times together are few.
    I love you true
No one else in this world will do
Though you are not in view
In my mind there's only you.
    I love you true
I want you to know it too
So together we can make it through
To look back one day and see how time flew.
Some days we will be together forever and always

Hello everyone. Today is happy date. We are approved. Just 2 days ago i saw case status said we had address change. I called and they said no worry just update address was still same address. Now 2 days later we recieve post decision saying we are approved. I see today on VJ many people are approved. Maybe someone at Vermont found many boxes of petitions setting in closet while doing spring cleaning and went to work finally. Praise the Lord for all he does

Brens47 reacted to aaron2020 in Filing for Custody in Another Country
This is not an immigration matter. It's a civil matter for the family court.
As far as the US is concern, mom gave up custody to allow the child to immigrate to the US. Common sense tells us that mom can't have legal custody of a child she allowed to PERMANENTLY IMMIGRATE to another country that she is not allowed to live in. She transferred custody to dad when she signed the poder.
The potential problem is the laws of the child's home country. You will want to get a local lawyer to fight mom's custody claim by pointing out that she gave written permission to allow her child to PERMANENTLY IMMIGRATE to the US.
