Thanks! Yes, this Saturday Jan 25th.

Wife passed her interview! Her oath ceremony is on Saturday Jan 25th in Irving. 

She had to wait about an hour and the interview lasted about 13 minutes. Questions were all the normal ones she studied for. Only question that threw her off was when they asked her about her two sons having different fathers. 

Been forgetting to update here. Wife has her interview today in Irving, TX. Literally waiting in the car for her to to get called 😅

She got her notice on Dec 16th.

We got our biometrics reuse letter (paper) over the weekend, notice dated 10/16. I'll have to check it again when I get home to see what service center is assigned.

In the email it says "Your case status: Initial Review", and then it goes on to say that they are actively reviewing our case as of Oct 16.

Yeah I checked the case online and it says they received on 10/3, but tracking shows it delivered on 10/4 🤷🏻‍♂️

NOA1 via text today, no email yet but does say the official form will follow by mail.

Also, didn't realize they worked later in the evening. Got the text at 8pm. Here we go!

Did you file online or by mail? It seems at least the first notification is much faster for those who file online.

What did you send for the reduced fee? Everywhere I had looked mentioned most recent tax return, so I sent that and my husband’s most recent pay stuck (he is the sole provider for our family). I filed under general provision also. It felt old knowing I had to prove bona fide relationships every previous steps but this one.

We sent our most recent Tax return and just in case also sent our 5 previous tax transcripts (though I'm pretty sure that wasn't needed).

We filed for my wife via mail for the reduced fee using the General Provision (5 year rule) since we waited long enough, though she was eligible after 3 years.

No notice yet, but tracking shows the package was received by at the USCIS lockbox on 10/4/24. I'm in the Dallas area. 🥳

Hello fellow VJers,

My stepson has to go to Peru every year to see his biological father. We usually travel with him, but this time we are planning for him to travel with a friend from the US to Peru (we'll meet up our son later and come back with him to the US together).

I've tried to look up information online, but it seems unclear what exactly we need to do. I understand he will need to travel with a consent form, but does he need both parents' consent? As in, his mother's, with whom he lives in the US, and his father's, who lives in Peru? If so, does it need to be translated and legalized in the US, Peru, or both? Has anyone experienced this?

FYI - the information I have found says that even when my stepson travels only with his mother, he is required to have consent from his father. However, he has traveled to Peru three or four times with his mother only and has never been asked for a consent from his father (who lives in Peru).

Thank you for the info. Fortunately, my family is now home, safe. I am copy pasting my story from my Facebook post on Aeromexico's page below. I also have a video of the aftermath, when my wife confronted this lady for not allowing her to fly and missing her flight:

"Today with Aeromexico, my family and I have lived probably the worst travel experience of our lives. My pregnant wife and 8 year-old son were flying from Lima to Dallas on August 1st, with a connection in Mexico City. The flight from Lima to Mexico was delayed and caused my family to miss their connection in Mexico. They were then bumped to the next flight in the afternoon from Mexico City to Dallas. When they were about to board the flight, my family was offered flight vouchers to resolve an overbooking issue with the airline. My wife accepted the vouchers and was given two first class tickets to fly the next day at 8:30am with my son.

When my wife and son arrived at the airport to check their luggage, Aeromexico REFUSED to check them in because, according to their employee ANEL GONZALES JUAREZ, my family's immigration documents were NOT VALID. My wife became extremely upset and my son was scared and crying. I had to activate an international package with her cell phone carrier so that I could continue to communicate with her. 

My wife attempted to speak to someone else but she was told that ANEL GONZALES JUAREZ was the supervisor and she was not going to allow my family to travel. This supervisor said that she would only allow them to travel if someone from the US embassy came to verify her documents. My wife attempted to take a video so she could repeat what she said and we could have it documented, BUT THE SUPERVISOR SAID THAT TAKING VIDEO WAS ILLEGAL AND THREATENED TO CALL THE MEXICAN POLICE (the lady refused to provide her name until my wife attempted to record a video).

At this point we were frightened because we had no idea how to get my family out of Mexico. A Mexico City aiport worker was kind enough to provide some assistance to my wife and suggested she make a claim with Profeco at the airport. However, Profeco told my wife that they could not get involved in matters of immigration. The guy assisting my wife said that even if she tried to buy tickets with another airline, she would probably get the same response.

Fortunately, he was wrong. I asked my wife to check with other airline counters, and they told her that her immigration documents were VALID. She then actually found another Aeromexico counter who CONFIRMED her immigration documents were VALID, and she was ok to travel! By this point, my family had missed their flight and my son was crying because he thought everything was his fault!

Apparently, they have now bumped her to the next flight at 3:30pm and have assured her that they will be able to travel. While all this was going on, I attempted to speak with Aeromexico Customer Service by phone and each time I was told that the issue needed to be resolved by the airport. When I asked to speak to someone else, they told me they were transferring me to "Customer Relations", but both times the call was disconnected! I even attempted to reach out via Facebook chat but after explaining our experience, the only response I received was asking for our reservation number, and nothing else yet.

This experience has been traumatic for my pregnant wife, 8 year old son, and I. ANEL GONZALES JUAREZ was extremely rude and arrogant, and clearly doesn't understand English or simply refused to do her job appropriately. Even after my wife was given new tickets and confirmed she could travel, this lady refused to accept that she was wrong. It simply cannot be that because of this person's arrogance, my family has had to suffer this very scary moment and waste of time!

My family is not yet home, and hopefully there will be no further issues when they attempt to fly out later today. At the very minimum, I demand a refund of our airfares and international charges on our cell phone bill. "

I will post my family's experience later on how Aeromexico initially denied checking her in based on travelling with her extension letter. However, I'm curious if there is an official link which provides information about travelling with an expired green card and extension letter? I've made a complaint on Facebook through Aeromexico and they are still trying to say that it is US immigration policy at fault.

I just talked to, I believe, a Tier II rep. I had called to ask about my son's NOA1 since I only had received one for my wife.

They told me that both their biometrics appointments were scheduled for 10/14/16 to confirm that they did receive my son's information. They also said they would investigate why only my wife received an NOA1/ letter for extension of residency. Also, I was told that if I don't receive the biometrics letters by 10/6, that I could call to have it faxed to me.

Thanks for the info. I'll have to call as I have not received a separate NOA1 for my son.

Hi everyone - I filed a joint I-751 for both my wife and son (stepson) on 8-26. We received our NOA1 letter dated 8/29, but it only mentioned my wife's name.

Should I expect a separate NOA1 for my son?
