  1. I don't know if things have improved with the embassy in Manila regarding interviews as they had been pushed almost 2 months out, hopefully some who have recently scheduled will post.

To change your location for the interview you would have to update the forms in your petition file, I would suggest contacting USCIS for Vermont on that before it gets forwarded to NVC. Once your petition is sent to the embassy you are better off to stay there as it does take some time to get it moved to another embassy.

As for the police clearance - yes, if you can get it before you leave.

Thanks Hank. After speaking with the attorney as well, apparently just changing the interview location can delay the process up to 2 months. Additionally, since we are looking at a 2 month wait (at least) for an interview in the Philippines, it is better we just stay the course and pray for early approvals and appointment times.

    Thanks again.

  2. NOA1 Date: June 5, 2012

    Awaiting NOA2

My Fiancee is a Filipina but we met and were engaged in Dubai, UAE. When we completed the 129F (through an attorney) we indicated the interview location as UAE. After some research on VJ, it seems that it takes 3-4 months after NVC Approval to get an interview in Abu Dhabi and less than a month in Manila. I understand that there is a mandatory class and a few other requirements in Manila, but I am certain that it will not take 3 months to complete the required class.

Having said all that, I have also read that it can take up to 2 months to change the consulate. If that is the case, it would not be worthwhile.

    I have the following questions:

    (1) How long does it take to get an interview in Manila - after it is forwarded from the NVC?

    (2) We have not been approved for our NOC2 yet, is it possible to change the interview location while at this stage or at the NVC? (Do they ask where we want the interview again?)

    (3) If she interviews in Manila, will she require a Police clearance from Dubai (we lived there for 5 years)?

Any help/information in this regard is really appreciated.

    Thank you.

  3. I am a fellow June VSC Filer (June 7th NOA1 Approved) and I am pulling my hair out.

Background: My Fiancee and I met in Dubai and have been engaged for 2 years. I always planned on returning to the US and with everything going on in the Middle East... the time had come! I hired an attorney because I didn't want to risk the possibility of missing paperwork. We have "bona fide" evidence of having met each other, engagement ring, pictures with friends and family, etc. Since apparently Direct Consular Filing was no longer an option for Abu Dhabi, we were told the fastest option for getting her to the US was a Fiancee Visa - as opposed to getting married in Dubai and applying for a spouse. All in all, it seems that that was correct, however, we (via the attorney) were under the impression that the processing time will be 90 days (like you see in CSC)...WRONG!

Here we are 5.5 months later...still waiting. I left Dubai to start my new Job in the US in October expecting to spend New Year's together (if not Christmas). That isn't going to happen.

I have learned to rely on the timelines for other VJ members to get an accurate estimate on our processing time. Looks like we are seeing approvals for June and I am just waiting for that text or email to come in.

Sorry for the long post, I have been a wallflower just watching for too long. Had a lot to say!
