We have not as of yet attempted to organize that data. We may, but we are unsure how the data would benefit I-129F filers. DACA petitions are handled significantly differently than I-129F petitions. While I-129F filers can expect to wait several months to be processed, DACA petitions can be processed in a matter of weeks. DACA qualified beneficiaries are technically in an illegal immigration status until approved, and as we understand DACA filers are given priority because of their current illegal status to prevent any issues for them. In simple terms, DACA filers go to the front of the line ahead of those already in the legal immigration system. The process itself of DACA petitions, their prioritization, and large volume is what causes I-129F delays. The final outcome of DACA petitions seems irrelevant.

We suggest that you, as a person currently in the legal immigration process, ask these questions.
Considering that close to 300000 DACA petitions was able to basically stop all I129F reviews for 3 months, what will happen when immigration reform adds an estimated 11 million new petitions?
What does “go to the end of the line” mean?
No need to debate it here. It’s just food for thought.

To make it simpler for beginners like me, could you give us a rough template of the sort of thing to write, or how to word a letter to the Ombudsman. I am keen to do whatever I can to help put the pressure on!

This slow down is so disheartening. In a few days we mark our 6th month. We sent an email to Congressman Mike Honda and Senator Barbara Boxer and still waiting for their reply or non-reply. (sigh) Also scheduled an infopass for May 14th. I hope all these efforts do not go to waste.
I agree with Lynkali, we should keep the noise going... they should be aware of what's going on @ CSC.

I really want to know what the problem is at the service centers... This is what they have to do.
There are tons of people waiting to be approved, and being apart from loved ones.
I want the workers to know how much we are waiting to hear from them...

Expecting a steady pace is a fool's game. It won't happen. If you look through the information provided around here, there are plenty of graphs and data showing that the flow of approvals ALWAYS fluctuates. They shift caseloads around all the time. It's completely normal to see speed ups and slow downs during the course of our waits. What was abnormal was the complete stoppage there seemed to be for several months.
Prepare yourself for the pace to have several ups and downs during your wait time. Unless someone gets expedited, we will all have to go through it.

I would also pay double or whatever to get me out of this line. No offense to the rest of y'all, but spending time with my love and seeing my kid after several months and seeing how much he has grown up without me. Hearing about how the little guy already misses me, it breaks my effing heart and I just want to be done with this. I don't need to test my relationship. I don't feel like being patient anymore. I just want it to be over.

I sure hope csc doesn't slow down again until they get within their 5 month target goal. That seems only reasonable to me. Of course, I wish the same for VSC. We should all be within that 5 month window. That's not too much to ask.

Both VSC and CSC in my eyes have legitimate concerns. We (CSC and VSC) are like two roller coasters in he same theme park ... different yet similar, one is experiencing slowdowns while the other one is doing fine, etc.
The USCIS data shows that VSC is like the bigger slower longer roller coaster. You are much likely in for a 5+ month ride. VSC has historically kept a bigger backlog around and you would be very very lucky to get approved in under 5 months.
The CSC is a bit more like a fast thrill ride. It might be a very short and fast ride at times, but it breaks down for long periods of time. It is quite unstable.
Neither coaster is much fun and both are hard to predict. That's why when I made my Youtube video
, I included the VSC and did not make it all about the CSC and DACA problems. The bigger picture is that both service centers are prone to these sporadic cycles. As I&B has pointed out with his research too, the problem is systemic. And things only seems to be getting more volatile lately. We can't let the processes pit us against one another, because it gets in the way of being active and voicing our concerns to elected officials and spreading the word about these problems. If 11+ million undocumented (aka illegal) immigrants are granted amnesty and many more millions of foreigners are granted short order work visas, believe me there will be plenty of divisiveness to go around if that worsens sponsor-based visa times. Unfortunately, big brother wants us to sit among ourselves and squabble. It's a big part of 21st century political agenda. But I digress.

This is the second post you've made where you are clearly trying to make this personal.
It's a service center issue, not a petitioner issue.
You have been trying to gain empathy off of your projection that by the time VSC gets to your petition, it would have been nine months.
The difference between your argument and what the CSC endured, is that the CSC situation was really happening. It was confirmed by data analysis of USCIS data and by USCIS itself. People were not saying "at this rate it will be nine months". People were saying "I have been waiting nine months". Unfortunately, we learned very quickly that elected officials couldn't care less about VJ data.
I never said a nine month wait was interesting. I said your projection of a nine month wait was interesting. I have a lot of sympathy for all petitioners that have actually endured a long wait.
I have tried to point out the facts to you on several occasions about what really happened at CSC. I see that you are far too defensive to try to learn from others and you will grasps at inaccurate calculations in order to support your personal beliefs.
    Enjoy your journey!!

And you may want to take a closer look. There has been a ton of analysis on the CSC approvals (or lack of approvals) starting in October of last year. Until 2-3 weeks ago, there was virtually NOTHING approved beyond half of July 2012. That's a 9 month wait, not an average of 3-4 months.
I'm not by any means saying that VSC is not processing beyond their 5 month goal. But right now they are working on October, which is 6 months, not 9.
The fact of the matter is that the surge of CSC approvals came from an outcry of petitioners to their representatives armed with quality data analysis. It's possible that if the VSC data starts to support a similar situation that the CSC data did, then those of you at VSC will organize in the same fashion to get similar results.
But I can't help but point out how pathetic this CSC vs VSC attitude has become. We are all working towards the same goal. None of us has any control over the process or the processing times. We are all trying to making the system work consistently for all applicants.
That being said making false claims is irresponsible. If you want people to agree with what you are claiming show proof.

Oh that graph....lol, that is only the average of those small amount that were processed. It does not account for the vast majority who were waiting during that time. That data is really only relevant if the cases are processed in order. It does not take into account those that are waiting, especially when it is the majority that are left behind. This has already been rehashed many times on VJ.

first you have very legitimate concerns. Second, nobody should be attacking you whatsoever for questioning the efficiency of any government agency. My suggestion would be to keep monitoring as you are and I would also encourage you and everyone else for that matter being processed through VSC to call and call and call and write your congressional representatives...to keep the heat on them. Otherwise, for sure they will no doubt slip back into sleep mode; which is always unacceptable....collect data...monitor data, report data and keep them honest. It's the only way the system will ever improve.

My heart goes out to everyone going through this K-1 visa process. There are few things worse than 2 people deeply in love, wanting nothing more that to start their lives together - being separated by a lenghty, unpredictable, expensive, senseless, bureaucratic process. Let's be honest - in the end nearly all of our petitions and visas will be approved - but still we're all forced to jump through these hoops like trained poodles. It's like so many other processes in this world. All we can do is grin and bear it. Do everything you can to accelerate the process. Dot every i; cross every t. Have high hopes, but low expectations... and an endless reserve of patience.

It's been over 20 a day recently for I-129F petitions, which is unusually/absurdly fast. VJ members only represent about 5-10% of all applicants per visa class, remember. Just a few weeks ago, we had 0 approvals per day for many many days (less approvals per month January-March than per day for the last week). At this rate, I've calculated that December should be roughly finished up in about 2.6 weeks, which means CSC will be operating within their 5 month timeframe again. If the current rate continues, of course.
Once the backlog is clear, CSC approvals will most likely drop again to a steady rate to keep in line with the 5 month goal.

Yeah, I'm not disheartened, as I've been skeptical from the start of this frenzy lol. For this reason. What goes up must come down at some point.
I've also observed, while watching the dynamics of this subforum, what one hopes for would affect others negatively, and vice versa. For example, hoping that CSC continues its rapid pace past the December applicants would obviously mean that we unintentionally hope for continued VSC slowdown. While we all would like to see our applications processed quickly, it is almost like we are inadvertently pitted against each other lol.

That's a fair enough point. The calculations should still be valid for the average approval time, however; it's just that the increased variation increases the likely error for any single data point. And that's a big part of the reason I'm waiting on saying more until I see a bit more data. In any case, if those calculations getting forwarded to senate/congressional offices had even a slight effect on the USCIS choosing to play catch-up so aggressively, then they have done their job.

We have all been waiting for our loved ones for entirely too long. The system is broken. Constantly complaining and always assuming the worst is not going to help anyone.
Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.
