he won't get bond, period. End of story. Ignoring the situation and hoping for the best will get him nowhere but a one way trip to Jamaica. My friend married a man from Turkey. He was in overstay exactly like your husband, was married to another women, divorced and never removed conditions. BUT and this is a BIG BUT, he did not have any felony criminal charges against him , not even a speeding ticket. He was driving one day and was pulled over by the police, he of course had no green card to provide so off he went to immigration lock up(this was in NYC). He had his hearing and had his very "competent" immigration attorney wit him, an attorney who told them the same thing before he was arrested, that all they needed to do was "get his citizenship"and failed to mention the removing of conditions part from his first wife. Long story short, this attorney filed for citizenship for him, citizenship he was NOT eligible for before he was arrested. Charged them $5000 to file it not including the fee for citizenship, charged them another $2500 to show up for immigration court and and attempted to explain to the judge that he has filed his citizenship papers and pleaded for his release and he assured the judge in no time his naturalization papers would be approved and everything would be hunky dory and everyone would live happily ever after. The judge LITERALLY laughed in his face and told him he should be ashamed to be claiming to be an experienced immigration attorney, went on to explain to my friend and her husband that their bozo of an attorney failed to tell them their is no citizenship without a 10 year green card and said if he had it his way lawyers such as the one they were paying thousands to for giving people false hope would be disbarred. My friends husband was promptly deported back to Turkey, the judge did not give them the opportunity to get his green card situation and overstay straightened out. That was 14 months ago. In the end the my friend and her husband divorced. There is no way he can ever come back to the US and she cannot move to Turkey as she has three children from a previous marriage, one in college and the other two are still in high school. Their lives were torn apart, they are both heartbroken, they used every penny they had to pay the "attorney" to file citizenship and borrowed $2500 from her sister for him to show up at her husbands hearing.
Moral of the story, ignoring the reality of your husband's situation and hoping for the best will get him nowhere except a one way ticket to Jamaica, which I'm sure is already in the cards. Why on God's green Earth do people come to this forum asking for advice then ignore said advice? Why bother asking when you know you already plan to move ahead with the way things are already going? Seriously WHY???????

Welcome to the Case Complete to Interview Monthly thread.

You can view my spreadsheet Case Complete to Interview Spreadsheet

To update your interview date go here. Case Complete to Interview Form

For New people to the thread please go Case Complete to Interview Form and input your information in the form and it will be added to the form.

Everyone should be clicking on the Portal tab to visit the information for their country. If nothing is there or information needs updating. Update or add.
Its up to all of us to keep this information current, relevant and helpful to others.

Special Note: Different consulates or embassies have strict guidelines as to what type of bags/purses/cellphones etc can be carried in. And whether they provide any lockers (or not) for temp storage. As many travel from far away (by air/train/cars, one needs to specially know what they will not be able to take inside the consulate and where to store their personal belongings.

Here are some FAQ and other tidbits that may be useful to you. Be sure to visit your countries portal and click on the Consular Information and also Consular reviews.

    FAQ

I just called and got Case Complete how long does it take to get the email as confirmation?
Well it has been taking 5 to 7 days to get case complete email from the date they Case Complete.

How long after Case Complete will I get an interview?
Okay this is the BIG mystery of NVC. How it usually goes is end of the month and first week of month they start scheduling for interviews for the that upcoming month. Since January they have been pretty consistent starting about the last 2 days of the month and finishing that following first week of next month

Do I have to call for my interview date?
NVC has improved greatly since March. The interview letter now comes day of schedule. So call if you want its up to you.

I know someone who got interview in the middle of the month. How is that possible?
Usually when you see someone pop up with an interview outside the bunch its usually the result of a cancellation or the embassy opening up a slot. Just because scheduling stops doesn't mean they filled up all slots. They may have more slots than appointments which is good. So someone gets case complete and immediately they get an interview. It happens.

Remember every embassy has its own slots and schedule. Some like El Salvador are very busy with a long waiting list. Some like Yemen, well it may be a few months to get in. Iceland you get interview immediately scheduled after case Complete.

I need to change our interview date what do I do?
Once you receive your interview date track your casefile. Call NVC ask when your casefile left than you can follow the DHL instructions to embassy. The contact your embassy (email is best) and ask to be rescheduled later, earlier just ask.

What do I need to bring to interview?
When you receive your P4 Letter (Interview letter) it will have your personalized checklist of things to bring or not. It has been suggested because things have been lost between NVC and embassy to bring everything (Originals) to the interview so if they don't have at embassy you aren't delayed. It's up to you. It doesn't happen much but it does happen.

    How to expedite at NVC?
Go to this link has good information how to go about it.

Just to remind everyone to revisit the NVC Process Wiki, NVC Process Wiki

You must bring the following items to the visa interview:
Any original documents the NVC requested that you did not submit (refer to the document list below) If the physician gives you your medical exam results, bring them to your interview in the envelope sealed by the medical office. Any additional documents listed in the U.S. Embassy or Consulate specific interview guidelines
The following table lists the documents requested by the NVC and whether or not you submitted them to the
NVC. Please note that even though you may have provided the NVC with a copy of a document, you are
still required to bring the original document to the visa interview.

    1. Why didn't you ask who the woman was who came to the airport? Doesn't that seem logical to ask? Perhaps she is actually your fiance's wife and that is really his daughter.
    2. It is hard for me to believe that a young child was allowed to accompany a totally unrelated person to the U.S. without the U.S. asking questions about this child. Considering the concerns about international abduction, it is hard for me to believe that the U.S. would just allow a child to travel here without the permission of both parents. I know that it is required to have parental permission to leave the U.S. as well. https://help.cbp.gov/app/answers/detail/a_id/268/~/children---child-traveling-with-one-parent-or-someone-who-is-not-a-parent-or
    3. What I understand is as long as the child has living parents, you can not adopt that child to immigrate to the U.S.
    4. It is asking a lot of a person to take their child to another country and be responsible for that child. They seem to have taken advantage of your compromised emotions and good will.
    5. Considering that the child has a parent in the U.S., the U.S. would give additional scrutiny to a child coming here and possibly trying to immigrate, I would think.

To OP: 14 years long love doesn't fade away this simple. Leave him alone for a while, you are hurt, you have feelings too. Give him some time, wait till he reaches out for you. God knows what is in his mind right now. He will come back to you, I am sure. Or he is an absolute fool. Be strong, Girl. I was in a similar boat, I am with you.

It is your comment that is completely ridiculous, USCIS has nothing whatsoever to do with OP's post.
Yes, it does matter if she is waiting outside. Period.
Of course Lagos wants a lot of face time but given the choice of visiting in March or CC at any time, it is best to be at the interview to request
a second interview or troubleshoot in case something goes wrong. It also gives the beneficiary emotional support when his wife cares enough to be at
the interview. Your own absence at the first interview and denial and then approval when you were at the second interview should be a no brainer
on how to advice the OP.
OP had several visits in and her interview will be very close to March/April. Duh !

I am a CR-1 filer from a border state and I have no problem with DACA. I am not sitting here grinding my teeth because "illegals" (don't like that term) are ahead of me in line. These people came to the U.S. as children under the age of 16. How many of them actually had a say in the matter?

What does makes me grind my teeth is that the government did not prepare for the sheer amount of petitions they'd have to process. Maybe they honestly couldn't predict how many would roll in, but more likely, they simply didn't have the time or the budget to prepare. There haven't been enough people working on these cases. That is what is wrong here.

As someone already said, the backlog is subsiding. It's too little too late for many, but at least they are doing something. The media attention surely didn't hurt. The OP is being proactive, which is awesome, and a great example for us all.

Thank you for your input....Yes, we know it is still going to be a long journey.... we arent going to file K-3 we are just going to file CR1....Yes the waiting is going to be long.....we arent getting married to spite the govt....as far as we are concerned we are married under god which is much better than govt.....but for the govt sake we have to do this not just for the visa even tho the Lagos Embassy told us, it was one of two options if we wanted to be together, but we are starting a business together and for business purposes and of course the visa making our marriage legal is the best thing for us to do at this point in our lives....
we have been totally honest about our relationship with the govt. If they dont want to believe us after this petition I have no problem moving to his country it wont be easy but I will get my man one way or another....Wish you the best in your visa journey also....Its nice to see another Oregonian on here

Thank you everyone you have put my mind at ease.

Ok, pls dont rip on me .... first background ...we were denied K-1 visa we were put in AR in Sept when he had his interview and USCIS sent me a text that our case has been terminated and to wait for a letter.....We got the expiration letter 2 months ago....None of it makes sense to me and Im over trying to find out why, obviously they are never gonna tell us....we believe it was because we met in South Africa instead of going to Nigeria to meet his family was the reason we were terminated....
But now we are moving on Im going to Nigeria to get married to my man and file for CR1 when i return....my main question is DO I NEED A LETTER STATING IM NOT MARRIED FROM A GOVT OFFICE HERE IN THE USA TO TAKE WITH ME IN ORDER TO GET MARRIED IN NIGERIA....if so where do i get this so called paper ....Remember this is Nigeria we are talking about so other countries rules and regulations most likely wont work.... I need to hear from couples married in Nigeria...
The reason we never got legally married when we met in South Africa was due to not having this paper we even went to the embassy and they wrote a paper stating no such paper exists in the United States and it still wasnt good enough for the South African govt....so we still had a life commitment ceremony under god which was good enough for us but not for all the govt officials lol
Thank you in advance any advice

I would be remiss to not mention this, but I assume since you're on the board here, you might already know this, but here goes.

If you go there, and get married, and come back and file the papers, they're gonna take their "own sweet time" in processing them. If the K-1 timeframe was painful, then the "I went and got married just to spite you, and here's my K-3" is going to be LONG and agonizing.
I wish you the best of luck as a fellow Oregonian, but that would make me nervous.

Do not be trempted to pay more for skipping the marriage bond posting period.

I understand what you're saying & MOST questions people have can be found through the guides & search engines. I have educated myself so I am prepared & ready but even I get confused by the way things are worded & I need to ask questions no matter how dumb it may sound. Nobody here wants to make any mistakes and the more I read about people getting RFEs its usually something small. So attention to detail is a must & as well as I've educated myself in everything if I have a question I'm gonna ask because that's exactly what visa journey is for. Good luck on your journey!
