BigDaddy28 got a reaction from Ramsep in Getting US Passport for a minor instead of N600
Yes you can apply for your child's passport. As of right now that is the cheapest citizenship proof. My point of view is a Certificate of citizenship is necessary to close the kid's case with USCIS and to give him a proof separate than your's or your wife's. I know it's very expensive for N600, but save the money for it and than apply. Trust me when your kid grows up he will be thankful for that.
PS: A passport is enough to prove citizenship, but in case the passport is lost and the child don't have to your wife's naturalization certificate. He or she will have to prove that the parent is a citizen before he can even get his status resolved.

yes you can. However the N600 will make his case independent from yours and will result in USCIS updating their record about your son. Say for exampe he grew up and moved out of your house, he needes to renew his lost or stolen passport and he doesn't have a copy of his previous passport. Somehow he doesn't have access to your certificate of naturalization. Than your son is stuck because he doesn't have proof of citizenship, and he doesn't have proof how he gained citizenship through yours. Getting his N600 is expensive and long however in the long run it's worth it.

Take your green card, your oath letter and maybe your passport.
Expect your oath to be between 2 hours to 4 hours.
Dress up nice for your oath, go with a big smile because you are going to enter as an immigrant and then you will get out as an American. Magic happens in that room lol, I'm just joking.

I like how you put them in check when people tried to put their nose in your business. Good job, I applaud you for that.
    To answer your question:
    according to this website: http://www.alllaw.com/articles/nolo/us-immigration/how-annulment-will-affect-marriage-based-green-card-process.html
an annulment is like a divorce. Your ex will have to prove that she entered the marriage in good faith. You as the petitioner could send a letter to USCIS detailing why you think she doesn't deserve a permanent resident card (10-year green card) based on the details you have that make you believe she didn't enter it in good faith.
    Good luck.

BigDaddy - looks like the process is going to take around 8 more months, -- ironically our cr1 extension which ended in july, is now extended another 6 months due to processing times.  Thanks again for all the tips with this.

Thank you Luukee, I hope the same to you. Start on working with 100 questions now don't wait until after biometrics. I promise the citizenship interview is a whole lot easier than the green card interview. You will be nervous don't get me wrong but it's all worth it. I remember mine like it happened last night. Good luck.

BigDaddy28 got a reaction from EM_Vandaveer in Can we have a wedding (but not get 'married') whilst still waiting for our visa???
If it's a wedding without legally getting married (meaning no marriage certificate will be out of it) I don't think it should be an issue. I mean if you celebrate but not get married that means you are not married. However, the officer in the border might have questions and might deny entry because he might think ESTA rules are gonna be broken

BigDaddy28 got a reaction from luukee in N400 on CR1 2 years Plus letter?
yes continue with that answer. the 3 years minus 90 counts as full three years because your interview and oath won't happen until after. if July is your3 year anniversary that means you are within the 90 days which makes you clear to file whenever you want.
  20. Thanks
BigDaddy28 got a reaction from luukee in N400 on CR1 2 years Plus letter?
you will be able to apply for citizenship after 3 years minus 90 days (not 3 months) since the resident date on your green card. If in case your ROC was not approved before, then USCIS will have to adjudicate your ROC the same time as your N400.

  21. Thanks
BigDaddy28 got a reaction from luukee in N400 on CR1 2 years Plus letter?
If the immigrant has a conditional card, a ROC is necessary. You have to apply to lift the conditions on the CR1 card. If ROC has filed and the immigrant has lived in the US for 3 years and been married to the same US citizen for 3 years than you can apply for N400.
If you filed ROC and you still did not get approved, and you have been a permanent resident for 3 years than you can apply for citizenship.

As I seen your father has been living here for 24 years. His green card expired over 10 years ago. Good news is, only the card expired. His status never did. He can apply for a green card replacement. I would see if he is interested to apply for citizenship after that, that way he closes his immigration door once and for all.

Honesty I can't tell you the outcome or the decision the officer could have, I don't think anyone here could either. However when you go to your interview you will be asked those questions again, answer them truthfully. So if that means Yes say yes and explain what happened to the officer. Saying the truth now will cover you in the future.

    Good luck.
