  • Our Story
Gabriela and I met on Providenciales, TCI. in 2007 while I was there working on several desalination projects. She was the housekeeper for the apartments where I lived. I was "trying" to learn spanish from Rosetta Stone. She asked me if I knew the spanish alphabet which I didn't, and she said I can't learn spanish without knowing the alphabet. It made sence to me, and she started tutoring me. After a few weeks of learning spanish together, we went out together for dinner and a few drinks, and the rest is history. Our only issue at that time as a couple is that I was a sailor, and she didn't even know how to swim let alone sail a large boat, so we started out on a journey to turn her into a "boatie girl" which we were quite successful in accomplishing. Our sailing history includes three passages to Santo Domingo, Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, Tortola, St. Croix, several passages to Anguilla, Cullebra, St. Maartin, and the islands of the BVI. We live aboard and make our home anchorage on St. John which is a very laid back community in the US side of the Virgin Islands. Gabriela (Gaby) not only swims now, but is a certified open water diver. We enjoy the ocean together as much as my work will allow, and continue our everlasting love story every day!

  1. So Gabriela is speaking more English. It is of course mixed in with Spanish, but I'm pleased to be hearing more words being spoken by her in English. We have booked our flight to the DR to spend Christmas with her family in POP. I'm looking forward to the Dominican festivities and seeing how they do up the holidays.
