Just thought I would chime in. Your educational level sounds very equivilant to my British husband. He's been in the US now for almost 10 years this October. Uni wasn't for him so he just did retail jobs here and there, travel to China to teach English and worked for NAAFI and was stationed in Afghanastan for a couple years. So over all he's done a little bit of everything. When he immigrated here on a K1 he started out as a deli sandwich and salad prepper for the food on the sales floor. He has always been a hard worker because of his morals and attitue on life. Managment always took a liking to him and he quickly rose to the top of his department. Eventually it lead us to moving from Alabama to Maryland. While in Maryland he wanted to try something different so he worked as the GM at Ripley's Believe it or Not. Then covid hit and we relocated to St. Augustine, Florida to manage here. But life had a different plan for him and now he is a GM soon to be a HR lead for a very large petrol/gas company in the Southeast of the United States.

What I am getting at, he did all of this without anything than his high school education and if you want to go to school to better within yourself but overall I think you should do what makes you happy 🙃

Didn't know how to really answer this other than what everyone else says but I just wanted to say hi!  My hubby is also British and we use to live in Birmingham (Hoover) for several years, since then moved down to Florida. But I still have family there..if you ever are in Florida I'll gladly offer you guys room & board in exchange for Milos lol

Have you looked into HSBC, their in  UK and US. From my experience working in a bank if a customer doesn't have a social security number they have to come inside a bank to open. Being that USBC is in the UK you could probably open there and use it in the US as well.

Totally agree with the volunteering. My hubby twice a week sometimes three would volunteer at the humane society and play with kittens all day and walk dogs. It's not much but it made time go by while waiting for his EAD. He loved it and still volunteers to this day even though he got his EAD a couple years ago

Very cute story we took our 6 year old trunk or treating and every car we went to people seemed enchanted by my hubbs accent. It came to the point where he had to stay quiet if we wanted to leave at a reasonable time lol.
I also love that my husband has been in my son's life since he was 3 and my little guy picked up on a few English words. This school year his teacher tried correcting him that the last letter of the alphabet is "zee" not "zed" and my son tried to correct her by telling her that his daddy says it that way and that's the right way.

    Hi there,
After you tie the knot you'll apply for the AOS and the EAD(Employment Authorization Card). The EAD usually comes within 90 days or less which allows you to work while waiting for your AOS. So you were almost right with answering your own question
I know it bites waiting to work esp with a fast pace industry like music but time flies when your with your special one
Feel free to ask any questions if you have any along the way.

As long as you have your LND number from NVC and your police report you should be able to book your medical Also they usually schedule a date and time for you when you call.
