I don't want to sound rude but I wouldn't take only the word of your broker to see if you are covered. I would want to talk to your actual insurance company as well. Not just the guy who sells it to you!
I import cars in my business. I have a great customs broker in Blaine. Do you want her contact info? If yes, send me a message.

I would trust the person at the library to be more careful and pay more attention. If you are paying for expedite then they would be obligated to take it to the post office I guess.
I did mine through the clerk of court office at the title bureau. That would have been similar to dealing with a library. They got mine out right away.

Just got an email for each of us that our passports have been sent. What a relief! It was completed very quickly but I spent each day worrying that there would be a problem processing with the kids and then worrying about the USCIS lady telling me I HAD TO get the NC for the kids before applying for passports. I'm glad that she was just trying to "up-sell" my USCIS experience so I would spend more money with them than necessary. HAHA.
Obviously this is for our NC progress but our group discussed this before so I wanted to share the update so everyone knows that the certificates for the kids were definitely not needed!
    U.S. Passport Application Status
If you applied for both a U.S. Passport Book and a U.S. Passport Card on the same application, the newly issued documents, as well as your returned citizenship evidence, may be mailed to you in separate packages at different times. Therefore, it is possible to receive 3 separate mailings; one with your returned citizenship evidence, one with your newly issued passport book, and one with your newly issued passport card.
Your passport application locator number is XXXXXXXXX.
We have finished processing your passport, and it has been mailed to you using overnight delivery.
You should receive your passport on or about 04/30/2016.

Your future-husband will need to go to the county that his divorce took place in and ask for a certified copy of the document. They look different depending on the county. It isn't complicated. If he doesn't have his copy from when his divorce took place then they will ask for a fee and create a copy which they can certify as a true to original copy. You will need it throughout your process so have him take care of it right away.

I don't expect you would have any problems either but do keep in mind NLR's question.
For the car rental, I would encourage you to call the location you plan to drop the car off to. Just because when you booked it they told you that it was OK does not mean the Enterprise location on the receiving end will actually accept it. I know that sounds silly but do make the call and confirm with the ACTUAL location, not just the folks on the 800 line. I have dropped cars off in Canada several times after renting in the U.S. but always check with the receiving location per the guidance given to me by a manager several years ago. You don't want to get stuck!

I don't know why there is so much advice about sticking with the K1 and then filing the CR1 later. I would cancel the K1 since you aren't planning on staying here anyway. Get whatever you need in order to come visit but when you come visit for your wedding come early enough to make sure you can get across the border in time, don't bring more stuff than necessary and have evidence showing your ties to going back home after your visit. Return flights, lease agreement, job? etc etc
    That's my opinion.
Plenty of people get married in the U.S. while visiting and then go home. Even people who aren't marrying an American do that

So I called in about an hour ago to see if my oath date was available even though the system only said that I was in line for oath scheduling. I got off the phone and not five minutes later I got a status change text. I called back in. No luck finding out the date but was told that the letter was mailed on the 29th. I just hope they don't do what Jimmy has me freaked out about which is schedule me for THIS Friday!!! Very unlikely of course but I'm still a bit paranoid!
Let's see what we get but either way, the notice has been issued!

Ms Hogan got a reaction from JimmyHou in Was told today I MUST present naturalization certificate for kids' passports
I had my interview today. Passed. The officer told me I would need to get the kids their naturalization certificates after my oath in order to apply for passports. I questioned her for clarification since I had been told here many times that I would not need a certificate for each of them and that they would derive their citizenship through me and I could just apply for passports without taking on the additional costs of the N-600 for each of them. She told me again I would need to do that before being able to get their passports.
When I got home I called the passport 800 number and was told the same thing!
    Has this changed recently?
Has anyone dealt with this recently?

My interview was this morning. I won't share the details about traffic and the parking garage being closed when I got there and having to park far away and walk and my state of panic!!
But mine went very well. Passed. She said she would schedule me for the April 15th oath date which is great. She said she could probably get me in April 1st BUT then I would have had a problem getting my kids back from Canada after Spring break!
Interestingly, she told me I would need to do the N-600 for the kids. I was convinced I was just going to be applying for their passports and skipping this but she said that the passport applications are going to need the N-600 as their proof. I'm not entirely convinced but I don't want to take chances so definitely need to confirm this.
I asked her about traveling and she said that the kids can still travel using their green cards even after I give mine up at the oath ceremony. It will be a little bit of a worry for me until we're all using the same documentation!
Anyhow... I guess now I wait to get confirmation that my oath ceremony is actually on the 15th but I'm so relieved to be done with this part!

Ms Hogan got a reaction from NikLR in Visa denied for petitioner original divorce papers
It was always my understanding that the expectation was that originals would be available at the interview. I know folks used to have to send the actual originals to NVC and then have them returned at the interview but at some point it was changed that a copy would go to NVC and originals available at interview. Similar to how our Canadian applications were done electronically so essentially copies of everything but originals would be made available if asked for at the interview.
Don't fret about it now. Just know going forward for all of your steps in the future to drag your originals with you just in case.

Ms Hogan got a reaction from NikLR in car question (split topic)
If you decide to actually IMPORT your car later you're going to have to take it back to the border to do so.
You can't register the car in the U.S. without having it paid off as you won't be able to get a title in the State you're moving too without showing there are no liens on it.
You can't get insurance in the U.S. without a U.S. title.
I don't think your Canadian insurance will cover you if you're no longer a Canadian resident.
You won't be able to get proper plates for your vehicle either. You'll still be driving around with provincial plates and you will probably get pulled over eventually. When asked for your license, insurance, registration, are you going to be able to tell them you're visiting?
    Lots to think about!

so are you paying off the loan? I would sell the car and leave it in Canada and get a new one in the U.S. So much cheaper to buy cars here anyway. If you're able to pay it off in order to have the lien released then that might be a smarter path to take.
I don't know what you are asking about how much do Rls charge to inspect the vehicle?
