You rock man. I'll go to the court clerk and see what happens! You never know until you try after all.

what you can do is take copies to county clerk office specially the court disposition and get it certified from the court. Try to explain the situation you are in. Since it is there copy they might be able to certify the document. Do have the expungement letter from the court as well which will say no court record exist. Good luck

Hey its been a while i came back to this forum and i am glad you are done with the process. That moving out of state worked for you, Great. Also you saved money by not filing Mandamus.

On the above post i am puzzled that why they denied since they had no valid reason according to the OP. filing 336 will mean more money but its worth it if it was denied wrongfully.

    Hi everyone
Today, my oath ceremony took in place at 219 S Dearborn St. . Per officers’s suggestion I arrived 40 mins earlier than my scheduled time. There was a security gate prior entering inside.
I came with my brother and they asked him to go to second floor (cafeteria).
Upon arrival to the room, the officer asked me to give him my green card and notices. He asked if I have more cards (he meant more green cards).
There were 35 seats and I was the third person.
They collected all greencards and they talked about what to do after this.
after 20 minutes the judge came and we took the oath.
After her speech, we had to stay to take or certificates. They told us to double check. We took it and it was done. We were not allowed to capture a photo or record.
When I came back I wanted to apply for passport so I went to my nearest USPS (I had to schedule an appointment first) and then I was able to get there. I prefilled the passport application form from the site but the USPS employee said that the pages should be all together and not two sided. So I had to refill another one. After that I had to sign my certificate (they didnt mention anything and I didnt do it). I also brought a letter that I changed my last name. It was attached to my certificate when I got my certificate. They needed both original forms. So I had to make a copy of them and keep them for upgrading my wife’s visa (which I already submitted that).

The journey ended and now here I am a US citizen.

Thank you my friend, yes also very glad to be done with it all, and also happy to help out other people stuck in the same situation now!

I too, am very confused by this. I'd at least want to find out the exact reason for the denial, so that I could deal with it.

I have not. This is the reason why I’m so confused. My attorney said it is not coherent with the law and we will be appealing. So I am just waiting for next week to see all options.

First time passport application is the ONLY time that you "officially" need to hand over / send your original naturalization certificate and worry about it. After it is done and after you get everything back, you can put the certificate in a safe place and most likely you'll never need to use it again. From now on you can use your US passport to prove your citizenship or to renew itself. Even in case (God forbid) you lose your passport, you can use the DOS Request for a File Search service (w. extra fees) to apply for a new passport because you're already in their system. So congrats to all who've gone through the entire process, it's all over😁.

Just because the store where you usually buy your potatoes happen to be closed this particular day doesn't mean you can't go get your potatoes elsewhere. It also doesn't affect the actual cooking process. 😉

And it is with a happy heart, that I can say I've completed my USCIS journey today.

Interview in SF this morning at 9:30am - I got there at 9, was in the interview room around 9:20 and was out of the building before 10.

    Questions:

Which ocean is on the east coast?
    How many senators are there?
What is a right of the federal government?
Where is the Statue of Liberty located?
    What happened on 9/11?
What are 2 rights of US CItizens?

    Reading: Who is George Washington
Writing: George Washington was the first president.

This all happened via video call with an officer in Fresno. They were nice. It seemed like the computer system took its time.

I then got escorted back to the waiting area, and waited another 10 minutes to get my notice letter with the Oath Ceremony scheduled for later that day.

The oath ceremony happened at 1pm, and I was out of that building at 1:15. Quick security check, handover over the notice letter and greencard, Escort to the chair where a white envelope and my Naturalization Certificate was waiting for me.
Quick talk about how special this day is, taking of the oath, and that was that. They asked everyone to leave and look at the white envelope at home.
They took the oath of about 40 people that time.

Thank you to everyone here for the support and help. This truly has been the key to navigate through all the steps along the way!

Feelings of 'cold feet' are pretty common around big life events, particularly firsts. Think of events like marriage, the birth of children, or moving overseas. I was getting cold feet before pressing submit on the N-400 application, but I'm all-in now.

We can't know perfectly what our futures will be. We all have to make decisions on the basis of incomplete or uncertain information.

But neither are we totally powerless actors in our lives. We can help build and improve the lives around us by participating wholeheartedly in our communities and families.

It's a powerful statement of purpose to be a 'citizen by choice'.

Just had my Oath ceremony at  219 S DEARBORN. The court yard where the ceremony took place is right across from the security clearance area. It was completed about an hour from the scheduled start time. Cafeteria and restroom are on second floor and Cafeteria is open. If you happen to arrive an hour early like I did, it is nice place to chill and have a cup of coffee. I guess my journey ends today... Passport appointment scheduled tomorrow.  All the best, everyone! Wish you a great summer..

I think it depends on each case, and also maybe more importantly the case officer assigned to you.

I'm currently waiting 14 months since the interview, so I do feel your pain!

No definition were asked. The whole interview lasted 15 mins. My interviewer was a nice lady, she just asked all the questions from N400. Make sure to review the n400 form before interview.
