I filed I-130s for my wife and stepson and they were approved so we're in the NVC stage now.
I paid the $88 AOS processing fee for my wife and eventually it said "PAID" on the ceac.state.gov website. Then I realized there was a separate invoice for my stepson. I read that I needed to have the cases "joined" so I called NVC and they said they would do so. I was under the impression that eventually my stepson's invoice would show "PAID" as well, so after waiting a few days I called NVC and the lady said that it would remain in the "UNPAID" state and that was normal.
Has anyone experienced this situation? Did the status change to "PAID" for you? If so, how long did it take? Do I just print out the document cover sheet from my wife's AOS twice and use it for each AOS packet I send to NVC? Did I make a mistake by paying my wife's $88 fee before I had the cases "joined"?
