  1. I was reading in another forum where someone was denied because they had a positive tb skin test with a normal chest xray. Is this true?

I had a positive skin test and a normal X-ray,the Doc doing the test told me that it was probably due the fact that i had a BCG shot when i was younger.Glad that i found this out cause now for any employment i will just have the chest x-ray done as the skin test will always come back postive

Right many vaccinations done in Asia and in Latin America cause the TB skin test to be positive. Here is another thing too, if you have had a TB skin test once--then all subsequent TB skin test will be positive.

They tested my wife with chest X-ray and Sputum (phlegm) test--which were both negative. My wife also had the BCG shot when she was young. The positive TB skin test does not mean you have TB. And in fact if you have TB and then take medications to cure the TB infection you will always have a positive TB skin test.

  2. Me and my wife flew to Peru and back 6.5 hour trip each way, and she was 4 months preggers and our baby is completely normal. The Midwife's only concern was that we would be far from home and our regular doctor's care--nothing about flying was mentioned as a side affect etc. She had us get copies of our medical records and take enough prenatal vitamins with us just in case. But nothing happened everything was normal. Now I would not travel in like the 8th or 9th month for fear of going into labor while traveling--but otherwise take your trip now when you are only a little preggers and not later when you have to be more diligent on the due date.

  3. They might be old line American companies, but they aren't made in America anymore. Just the name is American. Fruit of the Loom is a prime example.

My Fruit-of-the-Loom is made in Jamaica--pretty close to the USA, same hemisphere and almost the same language at least.

  4. He is a taxpayer with dual citizenship. He has the right to an opinion and a right to choose his elected representatives.

He does not live in the districts of Mo. or Nj. where he is doing the policital spots--they aren't his representatives--now if he does a political spot in general not naming a particular candidate or doing one for the representatives or senators that actually represent him then I wouldn't have a problem with his support one way or the other.

This kind of reminds when they had P Diddy doing Rock the Vote on MTV but when confronted about his voting history--P Diddy had to admit that he had rarely voted, and he was not even sure if he was even registered.

  5. just a note to those who don't attend, of the people we saw getting approved, everybody had the USC there. Those that didn't were not approved. Not sure why, just know they didn't get the visa of those we saw (out of 6 couples the three of us w/ the USC were approved, everyone else got their passport back w/ the yellow paper).

Don't connect getting the 221g (yellow paper) with an absence of the USC at the interview. The USC is not required to attend the interview--and on the 221g there are various reasons that a Visa is not granted that day. In fact several Peru-American couples have received the 221g with the USC present at the interview--including myself--it just means something was missing or still required--and in the cases here on VJ the requirement was something simple and the visa was eventually granted.

  6. Since when do you have to live in a district/state to campaign in it? I don't think there is one district/state (at least on the federal level) that does not have outsiders helping campaign. Under your argument, no one from the outside can campaign where they don't live.

Does being a high school drop out make someone less informed? That is an argument you probalby won't win.

That's the problem with outsiders meddling in local politics. We create districts and states and have polling places etc. in the actual state where the representative or senator lives. That is because the people that live in that region are the ones being represented. Notice that Cynthia McKenny (Dem -GA) lost because she took money and support from those not in her district--though her district was structured so by census to assure that a democrat african-american would win--but unfortunately she faced another democrat who is african-american in the primary--he didn't accept out-of-state money, and she did like 60%--she lost--she didn't represent the people in her district. The whole idea of having districts and state is to have local representation on a national level--if you allow outsiders to control every-single district through out the land then you will just end up with the Rich and powerful states and entities controlling every other district and state--this is not the idea of a representative democracy and flies in the face of our constitutional political structure of having representatives based on population in each state set up in voting districts.

Um what argument--someone that has never finished high school is always less informed then someone that continued in school--there isn't an argument--less educated = less informed. Even Mr. Fox acknowledge that his life's regret was that he never finished high school nor went to college.

  7. I guess my problem with this Situation are:

    1) Mr. Fox is Canadian, 2) If he is Resident or Now a Naturalized USC, he does not reside in the districts/states where he is using his illness as a political ploy in television ads. And 3) Michael J Fox though living with a tragic disease and a great actor he is nonetheless a High School drop out and now expert on Stem Cell Research?

If they want to really make this issue a campaign issue then present actual research and scientific data--why try and make Mr. Fox the poster boy of a maybe method of curing disease.

  8. Who's human rights are being violated? The father put his son in an orphanage, at 1 month old--and 11 months later when Madonna wants to adopt him suddenly his rights are violated.

What about the little boy's rights? Or Madonna's rights? Why should this father that abandoned his son and obviously lives in a location that is dangerous for children--having two other sons died of malaria, and having thought his living son had malaria--have his rights above others?

He abdicated his rights when he put his son in the orphanage.

YES! Finally My baby boy was born at 12:59PM on 27 Sept of this year! 1 year and a day to the anniversary of my wife's arrival in the USA. Wife went all natural, a real Champion, I so proud of her, started pushing at 12 and the baby was out in just under an hour! Both are doing great and health. Art Jr. weighs 1/10th of a ounce shy of 8 pounds and he is 19 inches long. Well two days old now still can't believe it! Love him and his mom so much! Congrats to those that have given birth before on this thread and best wishes for those still expecting! Take care!

  10. I would think you would have learnt not to do step aerobics anymore after the previous 3 times you broke your ankle there. Try water aerobics or maybe Tai Chi. Or Low impact Pilates. I just watch the videos very low impact. Love the scenery and the music. And I can pretend the TV is a mirror and I am in shape like the skinny models they have on the videos.

  11. Well at least someone in my State takes the law seriously.

Illegal Immigrant Bust at Local Business

    Sep 14, 2006 05:40 PM EDT

(CBS 46 News) -- Thirty illegal immigrants are in custody after a sweep made by the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Early Thursday morning, uniform patrol officers and ICE agents converged on the Forsyth Curb Company. Thirty people were taken into custody. All were employees of the company.

Twenty of those arrested are charged with forgery and identity theft in the first degree.

Captain Paul Taylor says the 20 individuals are all Hispanic males. Taylor says the suspects used forged documents to gain employment.

The forged documents include social security cards, resident alien cards and permanent resident cards.

Captain Taylor told CBS 46 News "This operation today was the result of an on-going investigation by the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office and the Department of Homeland Security's U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents".

According to the US Department of Homeland Security, ICE removed 168,743 illegal immigrants during 2005. Over 4,000 of those came from the metro Atlanta area.

  12. I thought you were talking about that other dog--Triumph the insult comic dog. Cause I was like about time. But anyway then I read about kiddnapping and I was like huh? And then with bounty hunter anyway I do not have cable so I do not see A&E except when I visit my parents and watch it on TIVO.

  13. Congrats ET and Wife! And Welcome to the world Naomi!

I had a doctor's appointment last week with a susbstitute docotr because my doctor was away for a afew weeks... anywho, the doctor asked what kind of prenatals I was taking and I told him Natelle and then he said I should start taking fish oil... I told him that I had got some samples packs of Expecta and I have been taking those.. and he said good ..

my samples are running low , so on the weekend I went to Walmart to see if I could find some Expecta.... I couldn't find any but I did find fish oil capules... I ended up buying them but now I am not sure if I should take them... I don't know if the Expecta ones are different from the regular fish oil ones.. ...

I found the Omega-3 Fatty Acid (fish oil) vitamins at Publix they were kept in the Dairy section. They are the type that must be kept cold. Also they were made from non-fish sources, some sort of seed or cereal I forget, anyway if you eat a balanced diet too and lots of whole grains that are not refined etc, you will get a lot of Omega-3 that way as well.

  14. Cool Georgia is the New Florida! Red clay beaches! Gorgeous! Acorns and sea shells. Yeah!

Go diving on the great florida reef! So I like how in these scientific studies they say--nothing like this has ever been reported. Or how every year they say this is the worst it has been in 40 years or since being recorded--but then next year they will say this is the worst it has been in 40 years. No if this years figures are correct then next year they should say this is the worst it has been since last year! But you know that doesn't sound so alarming So they just keep saying this is the worst it has been in 40 years or whatever. As if some distant recording in time shows a greater change--when 40 years ago we could barely make weather veins that could swing correctly with the wind direction. And now we have sattelites, and billions of storm chasers and remote weather recording stations and graduate students and others going to all the corners of the earth to take samples of this or that. So just state the real fact--this is the best measurements we have made in 40 years--or else ever made since last year.

  15. Lets look at Japan again. They are a country with NO illegal immigration problem.

Problems with the comparison of Japan vs USA.

I think to say that Japan is a country with "NO illegal immigration problem" is sort of overly exclusive. As it has been known for some time that Japan has illegal immigrants of a different type. Mainly in sex and industry. And since Japan is not known for agriculture (a huge land shortage), and is the largest target of US agricultural exports. Then what relationship is it of food prices in Japan vs Illegal immigrants. Because if illegal workers in the USA keep food prices down for us, and then food in Japan is very expensive--then how does it follow if Japan is the largest buyer of US agricultural products.

Illegal immigrants risk life and limb in Japanese factories

Bangladeshi Abul Kalam Idrish, right, his son Jakin Prince Alsafa and daughter Saudia are part of the 270,000 so-called "undocumented foreigners" living in Japan long term who do not officially exist.

    By Rebecca MacKinnon

    CNN TOKYO BUREAU

TOKYO (CNN) -- Six-year-old Jakin Prince Alsafa was born in Japan. The only language he knows is Japanese. His sister, Saudia, is a top student in a Japanese school.

But the two children of Bangladeshi parents have no legal right to be living in the only place they know as home. They are part of the 270,000 so-called "undocumented foreigners" living in Japan long term who do not officially exist.

"My children will have no future in Bangladesh," said their mother, Af Roza Kalam. "They've grown up like Japanese kids."

Their father, Abul Kalam Idrish, came to Japan 12 years ago on a visitor's visa, found work and then brought his family over to the nation.

Even in a time of recession and rising unemployment, companies still have a hard time finding Japanese people who are willing to work long hours for low pay at difficult, dirty and dangerous jobs so they openly hire illegal foreign workers.

Japanese Police Report Human Trafficking Victims in First Half of 2005

Japanese authorities have discovered and deported 51 human trafficking victims who were smuggled into the country to work in the sex and entertainment industries in the first half of 2005.

The number of victims was three times the tally in the first six months of last year, according to the National Police Agency report.

The victims were sent back to their home countries, including the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Romania, Taiwan, South Korea, Australia and Estonia.

While in Japan, they were forced into activities ranging from prostitution to working in hostess clubs where servers wear lingerie, the report said. Police arrested 29 other people on human trafficking charges in the first half of 2005, up from 24 last year.

The Switzerland-based International Organization for Migration estimates that as many as 150,000 trafficking victims could be working in Japan's sex industry. Activists say many women who voluntarily but illegally enter Japan are then saddled with exorbitant debts to their traffickers who enslave them to repay their travel fees.

  16. So today I went to traffic court to pay my speeding ticket. When the judge briefed the court he stated that anyone in the court that was "undocumented or out of status as far as immigration" may not want to plead guilty or nolo to speeding tickets as any conviction could affect their situation in the USA.

WHAT the hell! So you are telling me that you have an illegal alien in your court and in virtual custody, who is most likely driving without insurance, a driver's license, with a stolen identity, and here in the USA illegally is going to be coaxed in to how not to be deported. Unfuckingreal.

Illegal Immigration and Immigration reform is just bullshit and lies.

  17. Brooke this seems like such a grey area. On the one hand you must be legally authorized to work in order to work. On the other hand you can pay taxes as long as you have an ITIN or SSN. But from what I have researched on the I-9 handbook for employers.

You seem fall into one the following:

#38 Question: If I am a business entity (corporation, partnership, etc.), do I have to fill out I-9s on my employees?

Answer: Yes, you must complete I-9s for all of your employees, including yourself.

    However:

If you are self-employed, you do not need to complete a Form I-9 on yourself unless you are also an employee of a business entity, such as a corporation or partnership, in which case the business entity is required to complete a Form I-9 on you.

Don't become a business entity until you have your EAD and AOS, but you can be self-employed and not complete a Form I-9.

  18. You should constantly check all carriers. Delta, LAN, AA, Continnental, AeroMexico, etc.

The prices for Christmas will be higher than any other part of the year. But try adjusting your departure and return dates. Look at flying out of another Airport. i.e. Miami vs Atlanta vs Newark vs JFK vs Washington vs DFW vs Houston etc.

Look into taking indirect flights, maybe a flight like Atlanta to Mexico City to Lima, or Miami to Quito to Lima, or Miami to Santiago to Lima. Also look into taking the overnight flights that leave out of Miami usually. They tend to run a lot cheaper. Also a lot of times the prices will drop within 28 days of the departure date. So you may want to buy your ticket later.

Although more expensive you could buy now fully refundable tickets, and then keep checking everyday for cheaper tickets--and when you see them, buy the cheaper ones and get your refund for the ones you buy now.
