  1. After reading the new immigration law: "International Marriage Broker Regulation Act of 2005." I can definately see where with K-1/K-3 visas it would be well advised to attend the interview with your non-USC spouse/fiancee in Lima or otherwise in what have you country of your SO. Please see the other thread regarding this law--it has more implications besides a regulation on "Marriage Brokers." Namely more scrutny of K type visas and the USC background as it relates to any criminal activity and prior marriages.

  2. I applied to be a Flight Attendant with my ex-wife in the early 90's. She requested that I apply with her because her english skills were good but she lacked confidence--it was a massive hiring fair in a hotel for two days for United Airlines. My ex-wife almost made it, she was flown to Chicago where she went like a week or so of extra screening before she was finally cut from the final six candidates. It was a little bit of a downer--but now after we divorced she got hired with Delta Airlines as a flight attendant, but after working as a part-time gate agent for a few years for them--and she still works for them as far as I know.

I dated a flight attendant once and she at times hated the job--because with low seniority she had sucky bases and routes. But on the flip-side she did get good routes on occassion and with lay-overs was able to enjoy the locations she travelled too.

  3. My wife has been having problems with Nausea--she is like 3 months preggers now--its not really morning sickness cause she has tossed her cookies during the day and in the middle of the night. Your advise would be helpful.

  4. If you have nothing to hide............... then you have nothing to fear.........

    IMO

    Kezzie

I think the over 300 people wrongfully put in jail in this country went with that same philosophy--and nearly half ended up serving life or got the death penalty for crimes they never committed. But hey they had nothing to Hide and therefore nothing to fear--that is if losing your freedom is not something you fear losing--personally I think if you have nothing to hide then you have no reason to be searched. And therefore never have the fear of losing your life or liberty.

Source on 300+ people wrongfully that is completely innocent people locked away in this country.

  5. Also regarding the previous post before my first one by john_and_marlene. It is unconstitutional to be forced to divulge criminal activity that you may have or not have done in the past--its called the 4th and 5th Amendments. Unreasonable search/seizure and Self-Incrimination.

Granted there are such requirements to give background checks in other facets of American life such as required by some employers etc. Still I can see this issue becoming a legal challenge in the future. And the law is not really intended to protect women from abusive husbands/boyfriends.

The war on drugs/war on crime/war on terrorism/and now war on trafficing in women--they are all part of the governments shadow layer that intends to eventually erase completely the US Constitution.

  6. Having used several marriage/dating/matchmaking websites I have some problems with this bill. 1) It assumes that all American Men are wife abusing #######. 2) It seems to designate a prejudicial seperation between services such as loveme.com and others like match.com or yahoo personals--that is assuming that any web based matching service with actual brick and mortar offices is also criminally inclined.

The problem here is not that women are beaten and abused. The problem is that this law now assumes that all US Citizens are womanizing ####### that like punch greencard seeking third world debutantes. We used to have a presumption of innocence in this country and right to live freely without unlawful search and seizure. This law actually has another purpose--its really related to the Patriot Act and the recent revelation that NSA is spying on USC and openning any foreign based snail mail. Among other things.

Don't ever believe in the law on its face value--this law is not about protecting women from violence. It has nothing to do with domestic abuse--its another way to create a database and whatever watchlist. Why is there not a similiar law governing USC to USC matchmaking services? Which there seems to be a lot of bashing of Myspace.com and other such services.

  7. I didn't catch all the performances in entirety. But from the clips at the end I didn't see Mandiza as being any good at all--perhaps it was the part of the song they showed--but unimpressive. So was Kennik and Melissa not that great.

  8. Last year I filed for the ITIN for my wife who was still living in Peru and inelligible for a SSN. Anyway we had to do a handwritten (manual/paper) tax return and submit it to the Phildelphia office with the ITIN application. The refund took extra long to receive--a minimum of 12 weeks, it took much longer in my case. Anyway the IRS paid me interest on my delayed return. However--here is the other foot dropping. The IRS this year sent me a 1099 showing where I had earned extra income from the Interest that they paid me on my delayed return--income that I then had to declare. Bogus!

  9. My wife is from Peru and she does not understand why we do not have Taxis and Buses running up and down the main streets every minute.

I had to explain tipping. 24 Hour grocery stores and walmart. Also being able to return items for something else or money. She likes to open and things and sample them before buying them--and I have to tell her that is not allowed here without like permission to do so. Sales tax has not really come up. But property tax is a lot higher here so that has been an issue.

She thinks that the Mailman (lady) is really really busy since everyone has a mailbox and everyone seems to get mail--I told her that there are more then just one mailman doing the job so do not worry. How nobody will normally steal the mail that is in the mailbox.

She also had to be told about seat belt use--that children under like so many pounds or age need to be in childseats, and that law enforcement are strict on moving violations. How can I leave my car unlocked in our driveway. Why none of the homes have bars on the windows--and that homes are made from wood or otherwise non-reinforced concrete. She also was told how prisoners clean the streets to cut time or as part of their punishment. What else--oh also how you do not get free gifts when you buy stuff and how the days get a lot longer in Summer and shorter in Winter.

  10. I attended the interview with my wife. It is not a "requirement." But you may want to attend. If you do attend--be prepared to answer questions also--as you will also be interviewed. The day I went to the interview only about 20% of those there that day had the USC there with them for interview. Also I have read where people have been denied the visa with or without the USC present--so its not safe to say your presence will guarantee the visa is approved.

What will guarantee the visa is to be prepared and truthful. Have all your documents and stories straight and you sail through no problem. Good luck!

  11. Nixon will always be remembered for Watergate.

    Carter for Iran Hostgage Crisis

Reagan for Reganomics and the End of Cold War

    Bush for Read my Lips

Clinton for Monica's Lips and the Cigar

    Bush (Dudya) for Iraq fiasco

So see it does not really matter what the president does as far as governing. The Local (City, County, and State) and Congress controls the government. The president is just a popularity contestant. So if you care what the president does as far as governing you won't really pay attention to popularity polls. But if you do put stock in popularity polls then you need to elect people like George Clooney or Opray Winfrey as your president. Someone that is popular and forget the governing aspects.
