Since the recent changes with the I-94 becoming automatic, some slight changes to the guides may help. The AOS from K-1 guide states to provide a front and back copy of your I-94, which has confused some folks since they did not receive an I-94 in their passports.
    6. Copy of the non US Citizen Spouses valid I-94 (front and back copies) <-- Could be worded something like, "Printout of I-94 information from CBP I-94 Retrieval website, found here: https://i94.cbp.dhs.gov/I94/request.html"
A similar change could be made to the SSN guide for a K-1 that currently states > "3. your valid I-94"
Also, the first 2 questions on the FAQ about entering the US with the K-1/K-2 needs to also be changed to reflect the fact that the I-94 is now automated and no paper I-94 will be given out.
Edited to Add > Can you please add onto the AOS from K-1 guide, in a FAQ or someplace/anywhere that tells people that if they are changing their name when they get married, then to YES, use their new married name on all the AOS forms? This gets asked about constantly. If people would simply search they would find the answer over and over again from how many times it is asked and answered around here. But as we all know, people tend to ask instead of research so it might be helpful to have that info in the K-1 AOS guide so they can see it first, or just be pointed to the guide.

Not to make light of the terrible wait you are dealing with OP...BUT... given what I understand of Norway and the quality of life, if my Fiancee had been from there and I could get a job... I'd go for the Viking way without hesitation

Have you considered looking for jobs outside the little town you live in, and then move wherever either one of you guys can find one? I hope everything works out for you, best of luck.

Only a Health Department needs to put the stamp or seal there, not any other private practice/facility. As long as your civil surgeon filled out all the information in that section and signed, then that is all they needed to do there.

Naples usually schedules the medical the day before the interview, at the Istituto Varelli. If you got an interview appointment you should have got the instructions from the Consulate too. Check those + http://italy.usembassy.gov/visa/iv.html + http://italy.usembassy.gov/visa/iv/application.html, everything is explained there. Good luck!

Just to clarify: are you calling a courthouse marriage 'the paperwork'? For immigration purposes (and lawfully, in general), a courthouse marriage would be considered the real marriage.
I think not living together will raise suspicions. Really solid proof of co-mingling of finances (might be difficult, since you are still students) and regular travels to see each other could help prove bonafide, but in the end it will be up to the IO to decide. Good luck.

How about this scenario. An illegal alien with a deadly and highly infectious disease doesn't go to the hospital due to the fear of being deported. How many US citizen would be affected by the policy you are suggesting?

Uh - really not sure illegal aliens only hang out with other illegal aliens. It's about a costs/benefits rationale, not necessarily about pity. In the case of infectious diseases, timing is crucial for effective containment. Early diagnosis can save all kinds of problems to the whole community. Following your example, it would also save the CDC or whoever involved in the containment a lot of money (= taxpayers' money!).
Seriously, there have to be smarter ways to counteract illegal immigration rather than turning hospitals in detention and deportation centers. I think it's in everyone's best interest.

That's nice, I was going to share the exact same story.
If it was me, I would play it safe. Since it's a whole new thing, I'd want to reside and get married in a US State that recognizes SSM, and then apply for a CR1 with the help of an immigration lawyer who's also into marriage equality support. That's just my opinion though, I'm sure the organization Grinchus suggested (or other similar ones) could be of much help to get started.
Italy is in the visa waiver program: it would be possible for your husband to visit you during the process provided he can prove strong ties to Italy (if asked for them upon entry into the US). Since he appears to have a stable job there, my guess is it shouldn't be too hard.
    Best of luck to you.

Unless god is going to come down from his comfy chair in the sky and personally re-write the legislation, then I think we're fine having whatever laws we (as in, "we the people") want.
Opinion polls have shown that gay marriage is now favoured by a majority of Americans, and as the opposition dies off (it's mostly old, white people who have a problem with it, the same as it was mostly old, white people who had a problem with black people having civil rights - strange coincidence, right?) this number is only going to increase.

As far as I know, very poor people do it - regardless of their citizenship or immigration status. What I'm saying includes them all. Personally, I am for providing healthcare to everyone - for both ethical AND sanitary reasons.
