AmeriPole reacted to Pitaya in Is a K-1 Fiance Visa Lawyer a waste of time?
    Welcome to the forum.
You choose a rather "prejudiced" forum to ask your question about the utility of a lawyer in generally straight-forward immigration cases. This forum is generally regarded as a Do-it-yourself (DIY) site. As such, most of the folks here do not retain a lawyer. IF your immigration case has complications, or extenuating circumstances, you would do well to retain legal counsel.
In our case, we decided that our money would be better spent on other things than an immigration attorney. The wealth of information and good advice available on this forum, confirmed our choice.
    YMMV.
    Good luck.

I think it is insulting to people in this forum if you expect us to believe, let alone be sympathetic to your story. You showed up in the US with all of your belongings, and your cats with no return ticket and want us to believe you didn't intend to AOS, that all of a sudden you had a change of heart, seriously?? 99.9% of people on this site have gone through the immigration system legally, endured the long separation from our SO, and didn't look for shortcuts or lie in order to obtain a greencard. If you attempt to go through with your plan to AOS, I don't want to see you here crying when you're denied and banned for life because you blatantly lied to CBP. I don't apologize for my reply to your thread, and I am sure everyone reading this feels the same way I do.

"Genuinely a change of mind." ?
    Come on...
While I have to give you some credit for explaining in open forum how you completely lied, it's pretty insulting to the community here to see how you took advantage of an officer who chose to give you the benefit of the doubt. It's exactly situations like this this that cause honest people to get more scrutiny.
Every day, people with genuine intentions with a slightly strange story get sent back, and then to see how people like you take advantage of CBP's _VERY_ sparse sympathy is quite difficult.
You can come here with the cats like you did, but you can't stay here. Whether your AOS will work or not depends on several factors, not least your convincing ability to be dishonest.
While there are people that get away with this, you're in the wrong place for the people here to tell you it's all okay and it will work. We foremost don't have enough information about your case, but many here simply have no respect for possible future citizens that make blatant dishonesty and disrespect for their newly adopted country as part of their very first interactions with it.

    Look at your situation objectively.
You husband has a US job offer. You show up at a POE with all your belongings, your cats, and no ticket to leave the US. You were suspected of illegally immigrating to the US and you claim no. Now, you want to AOS.
Come on. You've just contradicted your claim which allowed you to be admitted into the US.
AOS is not going to end well for you. Take your chances if you want, but its not going to end well for you because your statement at the POE is going to bite you in the #######.
The smart choice is to go home and endure the temporary separation like many other couples here while you wait for your immigration visa.
Sorry, but you played the "fast immigration" game and you've lost.
I personally do not believe your story. I don't think anybody with experience on this forum will believe it either.

loladolly, I am not trying to upset you in any way but just consider that everyone here is going through the same waiting process that you are. Some of us have even been waiting longer for their k-1s than you have so far, in fact many of us. Although being apart is an unfair and unwanted part of this process I can promise you it makes it about a million times harder to get through it if you constantly let yourself fall into a negative mindset. All you can do for now is forget you even filed for your visa for about three or four more months. No VJ, no timelines, no USCIS checking. It'll go a lot faster if you don't check every day and depress yourself. And on a positive note once it's over you will forget about it. This is such a tiny piece of time your trading for your happily ever after. It's doable, just keep your chin up.
    Good luck.

These things happen. He probably assumed he would be ok, and that because he'd been honest with the process. Unfortunately the people who do things the honest way aren't always favored. For now stay strong and hope the year goes fast. I wish you the best of luck.
P.S. Ignore the trolls and the haters, you know your husband and that's all that matters.

No, actually as I have said we were honest through our proceedings so don't worry your pretty little head with that. My question was merely about the proceedings to come. It was your clever remark and implication that a teen that experimented with an illicit drug would now be as you said to quote you "He tried marijuana once as a teen and now the urine test is positive? Uhm, I'm no doctor, but it seems like he has a lot of liquid retention..." Please don't attempt to illicit a response nor imply that I said something to that nature. It's not helpful in the least.
Apparently you have very little to offer in the sense of "help nor guidance" so I would very kindly ask that you refrain from any kind of response to my topics in the future. These forums are used by those to offer help and advice on immigration. They have been a haven to many that needed a place for solice and advice. Not trolling nor words with malicious intent, under the guise of help.
And please... trolling is so déclassé. To try to gain some sort of joy or pleasure from another's pain? Please find another topic or poster to engage with. I do hope that you have not encounted similar posters/trolls in your search for help here in the forums. I have found everyone to be truly helpful up until now.

AmeriPole reacted to OrderofProtection in The 200 Club-it's such an honor
Thanks so much Vermont Service Center for inducting me into the 200 Club. I'm grateful to VSC who has sat on my petition for 200 days now with not so much as an RFE or an approval. Without their lack of work and lack of dedication I might have been approved on time or even *gasp* early and therefore not have had the pleasure of induction into this club. An honor like this only happens to a few fine people here at Visa Journey, so I realize that having this honor is a once in a lifetime (hopefully) opportunity. I'll await my golden immigration USCIS representative statue that's coming in the mail, complete with royal purple sash that reads "200 club", and letter confirming my lifetime membership and stating that they are still working on my petition and it's on someone's desk.
To all the new folks out there asking...Mary....how do you do it? How did you get to where you are today??!
    I'd say...
A lot of hard work on my part kiddies, and absolutely no work on theirs. THAT'S how you get where I am today. Yes, you too CAN be like me if you do everything you were asked, write every Congressperson and Senator in your district, wait patiently, and pay your fee that they gladly cashed 6 1/2 months ago. I'll be here to welcome you when you get inducted.
Thanks again, VSC. I'll never forget you.

I am assuming you didn't come in on a family-based visa so I am going to move your thread to the AOS From Work, Student, and Visitor Visa.
The "deported" comment is unnecessary and a violation of the TOS. Further such comments will result in a thread ban. Thank you.

AmeriPole got a reaction from Knope2012 in Pregnant... Should I Continue K1 Process
No offense to you but that man sounds crazy. There is no way this is just a "stress" response. This is a rough time for both of you, sure. However, if his response to that stress is to take your child and ship you off then that's a pretty good indicator that maybe he's not the right man for you. Also, refusing to speak to someone during an argument should be a big red flag. Yes, sometimes in the heat of an argument people may yell but so long as this is controlled there is no reason to completely shut out the other person. This is a power tactic, and it seems he uses a lot of these (based on what you've said). As someone earlier had said, these things only get worse, not better.
Also in response to the victim blaming trend. Regardless of a culture and how it acts this person is coming from a different culture. Accepting one another for who they are and finding a compromise is the best solution. NOT totally changing who you are to be a better woman and "know your place."

This is a disgusting response. The woman explains that she's emotionally abused, and once physically. He brings over family members to bully her. He sets out a plan for her (raise the child, then have a 2nd baby) and when she attempts to follow that plan, he acts as if it never was the plan in the first place.
And your response is to tell her to be a better wife. Unbelievable.

OMG I can't believe you want her to be a better wife, he should be a better husband. You don't go tellilng your family lies about your wife, you don't go getting your sister involved to help you attack your wife (verbaly).
She has been a stay at home mom for 5 yrs taking care of their child, something he wanted her to do, durring that time he is spreading lies about her, being verbally abusive and has started physically abusing her. No way on earth is she at fault, with an abusive man nothing will make him happy, she could be making 100k a year and he would still not be happy. The way he is getting his familly involved while he belittles/makes up ####### is abuse. This has been building up for 5 years, he has her feeling lost and confused, he has her daughter telling her he is mad at her how he doesn't love her. No parent should ever put their child in that position, that is child abuse.
Abuse is a deal breaker seek help for your daughter and yourself.
