    Sooooo

    I’m finally a US citizen.
My interview was schedule at 9:00am. I arrived 20 minutes earlier and went in the building. Security was very nice and who ever was checking in was very nice as well.

I waited around 1 hour to be called and then the IO asked me to swear to tell the true. She started asking me for my passport, DL and GC. She checked my passport every paged though.

She asked me 6 questions and then she moved to the reading and writing test. Unfortunately the IPad wasn’t working so I had to do everything on a paper she gave me. After passing my civic, reading and writing she started with my N400 application.

She asked me for my current employer which I was actually going to update today since I’m not working in the same place. The she asked me why I took too many trips out of the US and I responded with the true about my wife and my dad in El Salvador. She asked me if I was leaving in El Salvador, if I was working or if I have any properties there to which I responded with the true (No).

I also got married after I submitted my n400. She asked me about my wife and info about her as well. She asked me I was planning to petition for her and my dad; to which I responded that in the future that is the plan. She asked me for my taxes and she checked the one from the last 2 years and she said it was okay. She made me sign the updates and gave me the letter saying my application was recommended for approval and she told me to wait outside.

I waited for around 30 more minutes; I filled out a paper for the Oat (which is the same day in Orlando field office).
Oath didn’t take more than 10 minutes.

Thank God I got approved today and also got the path the same day!

I had my application with me and glanced at it a few times (I forgot my social security number, oops). The officer did not mind. I don't know if other officers would think differently.

i think glancing at it from time to time is perfectly acceptable. and i believe that if a person faked the app and somehow got through and presents at the interview like they are faking the details on the app, trust me the officer will know it! they do this several times a day, each day of the week, they CAN tell.
the officer also reviewed my travel details with me...i also brought my own list to confirm the dates and the officer did not mind that as well. she did tell me that she will go with the dates that's captured in the immigration system that she could see in her screen.

PS - I also did ask the officer how many interviews she does in a day. she only does combo interviews she said and she said around 7 a day. no wonder they take forever to schedule these interviews! i was expecting they do way more!

It's perfectly fine. I had my whole stack (application + supporting documents) with me. It was a big pile, no issues. I had it ready in case I needed it. On the interview, the officer did ask details from the application form. LOL - like @peachouille i forgot my SSN! my husband is the one who has memorized it, i have always asked him each and every time I needed it. when the officer asked me what my ssn was, my exact words were, omg, i don't know. wait let me look in my files. my husband was there in the room because mine was combo interview...but at the start of the interview the officer said, no coaching so i could not ask him lol. then officer then said, if i recite the ssn, will you recognize it? i said yes, i will recognize the digits, but not the order. officer recited it to me, i said, that's it and we moved on. i was approved, oath scheduled in two weeks.

Thanks! I will try not to give it too much thought. I think what got me concerned is that family members who applied after I did already got their interviews and some are even scheduled for the oath ceremony. I wonder if that difference in timelines for spouses or family members has happened to anyone else?

Pretty stoked for you i hope Feb 28th comes super fast for you. Unfortunately for me i am still awaiting news about Oath which is frustrating because officer said recommending you for approval but we need to process your background check and here i am still waiting, I was banking on same day oath but yeah fingers crossed.

    Hi all!

I had my N-400 interview on Friday at the Milwaukee FO. My husband went with me and the officer thankfully decided to do the I-751 interview at the same time since she had the file. All went well, the officer was super nice and professional.

She asked for our IDs and then she went through the basics of the application (names, DOBs, addresses, etc.). She then asked my husband and I a few questions:
How did we meet? Where did we get married? How long did we do long distance for? What is in our future as a couple?
She also asked if we had new documents that we wanted to submit so we gave her our lease renewal, updated insurance and more recent utility bills. She then escorted my husband back to the waiting room so we could do the N-400 interview.

For the N-400 interview, she mentionned that she did not have my A-file which she needs for final approval, which freaked me out a little since I have seen a lot of cases delayed because of that missing file.  But she said she would check if it was digitized and thankfully it is!

We then confirmed the basics info again, then we did the civics test. The questions were:
What group of people was taken to America and sold as slaves?
What did Susan B. Anthony do?
What is the capital of your state?
What is one right or freedom from the First Amendment?
What is the political party of the President now?
There were 13 original states. Name three.
Then, she made me read and write a sentence from/on a tablet.

After that, we updated a couple of things in the application (my husband changed jobs and I traveled abroad since the application). Then she went through the list of "No" questions, and then the ones about supporting the US etc.

Finally, she made me review the main information that will be on the naturalization certificate and read through the oath of allegiance, signing for both.

My N-400 application was recommended for approval and the officer said that I would not receive the 10-year green card and will just get the oath ceremony letter in the next few weeks. I am now just waiting for the formal approvals and online status changes!

I have not been on here in a while but just to give an update. I had my interview yesterday January the 13th at 7:15am. I was there for about 15 to 20mins max, nice officer asked me 6 questions got them all correct i actually have 2 arrest on file 1 in 2008 and second 2015 she asked about both and then she asked if i wanted to change my name i said no. She proceeded to ask me will i swear to obey the law, fight for the united states, if called to defend flag will i, if asked to go to non combat for us will i etc. I said yes yes yes and she proceeded in letting me sign verify my name and gave me a notice that congratulations pending your background check. I got a interview result that had you passed english test and us history checked and then section B was checked a decision can not be made yet about your application. so right now fingers crossed.

@Mike E  I had called the Selective service and they confirmed that i was registered but didn't have my SSN on file which made it difficult for USCIS to confirm that. So the changes have been made and my SSN is now updated on file. I went in to verify my registration and all seem and look good so i will have that printed and send it along with other necessary documents. Thanks for your help and advice in all!!!

My suggestion is to speak to the State registrar to have your name removed from the voting list right away.

I assume you have never attempted to vote? How did you find out you were registered? Did you register yourself? These are maybe the kind of the questions that you could be asked (or not) but you have to remove yourself from the registry asap.

Pretty sure it does not apply to anyone over 26. The letter they send is generic (it is on mine even as a woman).
Your age at US entry date is proof that you were not required to register.

I got my interview date! It says to bring proof that I registered with selective service, but I was 31 when I was granted a green card and came into the USA to immigrate. Is that a mistake on my interview letter or was I supposed to register? I remember trying to register but they wouldn’t let me because of my age. It was almost a decade ago. Did anything change with regard to that rule?

Interview is scheduled for February 18, 2022.
