Calicolom got a reaction from Adventine in Health Insurance for parents over 70
When I retired, we moved to Colombia. The main reason was, HEALTHCARE cost. I was on Medicare, Some diabetes prescription was not covered, the average cost $270 a month. We pay $100.00 per month, for insurance in Colombia, Medication copay for any medication $1.00 I just had major surgery here. This was in a world class hospital in Cali $65.00 copay for upgraded services. All doctors, and nurses spoke perfect English.

Sometimes People forget things, sometimes it is not important in there country. Just days before I filled my I-129 my now wife told me, she thinks she is still legally married. but they where separated for 16 years. In Colombia many people life together, have children, and play family all there life, without legal marriage. I think she assumed, moving to the US is another life. Where the old marriage did not count. Another hurdle we had to cross.

Calicolom got a reaction from Mike E in Urgent please help!!!!
Including the paperwork needed for Immigration. It sometimes is very difficult to get the proper paperwork from some war torn country's. in Colombia you get any papers you want for a price. In Cali there is a street, with many printing shops. You can walk in, and they will fix you up, with cap and gown, with a college graduation certificate, and all the necessary paper work for a 4 year degree, doctorial degree or whatever degree you like. You walk in as nobody, and walk out as doctor.

This is a terrible plan. Don't do it.
I don't have firsthand experience and I'm not an immigration attorney, but hey, it's against the TOS to tell others not to post. If you only want immigration attorneys to respond, you should probably pay one to do so.

sending money to a loved one is what we think is normal as Americans being 'in love'"
and even continue to send money to the immigrant's family after he/she comes to the USA as many countries are poor
but the harsh truth is immigration sees this as the immigrant using the USC for money -ask any immigration attorney concerning that
its the way they feel / not us
so writing to immigration saying you're going belly up to help her will backfire
and i hope you didn't include copies of western union receipts in your I 129 to show this as a relationship
and begs the questions
how will you afford the plane ticket to bring her
how will you afford her health care insurance
how will you afford the AOS process
this is not cheap, fast or easy
and its a burden we all assume when making the decision to marry

If the embassy is not open, there is no reason to expedite. They will not process or proceed until they open. Futhermore, in some countries, sending 1000.00 a month to a fiance will question a bonafide relationship. In addition, your fiance will have to make due with the reduced amount of money you send. 100% of everyone in the US is having to manage with reduced income, your fiance should not be an exception. If you choose to get a 2nd job to support your fiance, that is your choice. You already have limited funds as you need a co-sponsor.

Calicolom got a reaction from Noname93 in Anyone else not planning on applying for citizenship?
It used to be, non citizens had a lot of restrictions, Could not own Guns, had to register with the post office every year, could not work for company's with government contracts. This has all changed, non citizens have the same rights as citizens now. With Biden in power, it will change even more. There is no more benefit to being US citizen. The world will love us, so they say, but will they respect us. NO

Calicolom reacted to JeanneAdil in fake divorce cert / kid / noid
1 st of all so sorry this happened to you
2nd Looking at it differently
if he had to produce a fake divorce degree, he was married
i know Ghana is a 3rd world country but they still register marriages
3rd he would have had to show proof of the child to embassy (not just tell them)
if the above is true, she wouldn't be legally married
i would kick his butt out and see an attorney to protect you
tell him he needs his own immigration attorney
and i would inform immigration of the fraud

what does affidavit of support have to do with a tourist visa?
you're asking in regards to the one used for K1?

Calicolom reacted to SusieQQQ in Planning to bring my parents using B2 visa
Which embassy? Almost no embassies/consulates are currently processing B visas.
The visa officer will be less interested in why your parents want to visit, than why they will return home before their authorized tourist stay expires. Not having jobs is not helpful to that, do they own a home, run a business, etc?
Separately if they do manage to get visas and travel make sure you have travel insurance for them that explicitly covers Covid and related treatment.

As soon as my K-1 was approved, I worked on the the forms for AOS, then when this was approved, I worked on the next step. Always one step ahead.
