  1. Actually, i already have my case number MNL**********

My husband and i are just hoping he could pass the exam and interview so he could upgrade my case.

The question is how to upgrade???? Do we have to call or mail something?

This is a little bit confusing. Let me clarify. you are the petitioner and just became a US citizen right?

and your husband is the beneficiary. If that's the case, and you already have the NVC case number,

to make your priority date current call NVC and they will tell you to send a copy of the naturalization certificate.

What part of the NVC process are you in right now?

  2. hi just received receipt notice for i-130 preference 201 b ina minor child of usc,,, does it take 5months from i-130 to getting the immigrant visa or just approving the i-130

as i live in usa with my husband who is filing for his stepdaughter ( my daughter ) while she is still in the uk, do we be the agent for her or can she be her own agent, i ask this as she is nearly 21 ( and bright enough to fill paperwork in herself )

does the paperwork get sent to the service centre here or straight to the embassy in london

if my daughter is her own agent and gets the bill can we still pay in online on her behalf

should she also NOW apply for her police check or wait until we receive the package of paperwork

sorry for all the questions but need to help her as much as possible as i cannot get enough time off work to be in england with her while this is done

all help will be gratefully received thanks debbie

Currently, its taking more than 5 months for the immigrant petition i-130 to be approved.

  3. Hi! congratulations you made it!

how did you sent it finally? by e-mail or regular mail... I am on that now, and a little confuse if that might be possible to be sent by e-mail to make this on a shorter time... please let me know..

I'll answer this if I may.

Everyone have the option to send the DS3032 by email.

Just make sure you follow guidelines for sending an email

like putting NVC case number on the subject line.

  4. I got my NOA2 on 23rd March and it's now 24th April. Our case was received at the NVC on 16th April but hasn't been assigned a case number yet. This is taking really longer than I had imagined it would at the NVC. I'm reading here about people suggesting the NVC is backed up... it really does seem so.

Any ideas? Is it taking this long for lots of other people?

You can expect to get it first or second week of May.

  5. My husband called NVC today and the operator said they received my case already but they're still processing it. How long do you think will it take before I get my case no.? thanks! :-)

wow! I thought my wait for NOA2 for 200 days was too long! until I saw your numbers.

expect about 2 weeks to get your case number. This is based on my experience and reading vj forums.

you never know it might be earlier.

  6. thanks vj'ers! btw, i am the beneficiary. i just sent my DS 3032 via USPS in the Manila Embassy. Do u think guys i still need to send it through my email? or will that caused a problem if i send it throuh email since i already send them a hard copy via MAIL?

send it through email much faster to reach NVC (nvcinquiry@state.gov)

make sure to put nvc case number in the subject line.

  7. Hello all.. I am in the process of filing out the I-864. I do not make the required income for my household so my brother in-law, who is a legal resident will be our co-sponsor. I am not sure what form he needs to fill out..is it the I-864 or I-864a? We live in separate homes and he files his taxes jointly with my sister...does she have to file paperwork as well? Also, there is a mistake on his green card on his birthday instead of dob 3/15 it states 3/05. Is this going to be a problem with our case?

Thanks in advance for any help

    This is what the co-sponsor needs;

    Form I-864

Tax Return; or Tax transcript for the recent year.

If he meet/pass the poverty line, your sister doesn't need to fill I-864A.

check out this link for more details on the process.

  8. Hello VJ Members,

Does anyone from Ghana or have an idea about sending Original Marriage Certificate and Original Birth Certificate to NVC or certified copies of these documents to NVC? if so where can I certified them because I dont want my originals get lost.

    Thank you for any advice

They will give the originals back at your interview.

  9. My wife case (CR1) was approved on Mar23,2012 and nvc still have not received her case from USCIS (VSC) yet. I've sent her approval letter to NVCResearch@state.gov on 4/11 and received following reply on 4/12:

" Please be advised that the National Visa Center (NVC) has received your

inquiry and the attached I-797 Notice of Action - Approval Notice.

Unfortunately, we do not have record of receiving your approved petition

from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. The NVC will contact

USCIS on your behalf for information on the location of this petition."

As of today 4/20, they've not received her case yet and also i've not received any email from nvcresearch since above. Today is 21st business day and i am not sure how long do i've to wait to get NVC case#.

    Thanks

our case took about 7 weeks to reach nvc. NOA2 on Feb1, and another 2weeks to get the case number.

NVC is getting a lot of influx now a days and include the change of IV is messing up the system. best of luck to us! :bonk:

  10. How long does it take to get tax transcripts from the IRS?

Also, my wife filed improperly her 2010 tax returns and needs to refile for that year to get a 2010 trabnscript. Her income meets the minimum from 2011 by almost double the minimum, and will be sending an employer letter + 4 most recent pay stubs(she got a new job this year). Would you recommend still sending transcripts from 2011, 2010 and 2009? Or is 2011 + employer letter and pay stubs enough?

I got mine in a week

  11. flowchart looks great however, I have couple of questiosn regarding AOS and IV Track

    According to your flowchart

    AOS track

    nvc invoices AOS Bill

    Petitioner pays AOS bill

Send in AOS Package ? (Does NVC sends petitioner AOS package to be completed by Petitioner. Petition then sends it back to NVC ? is this correct)

same questions for IV track. I am assuming NVC sends petitioner DS-230 packet. Petitioner then completes the packet and sends it to NVC

Can we send AOS package and DS 230 package at the same time ? or does AOS must be submitted before NVC can generate IV Package?

I am not clear on these two items at all. Please help

If you wait packages from NVC it will take you longer time. Forms I-864(AOS) and DS-230 (IV) can be downloaded and filled up.

Yes you can send them at the same time. IV depends on the acceptance of DS-3032(choice of agent) and is independent of IV track.

  12. At the top of this DS-3032, it says "Place Case Barcode Strip Here Before Mailing to the National Visa Center.", can I WRITE the case number instead of placing the Barcode Strip (because my parents won't have this number before NVC send them the DS-3032)? Is it legal just to WRITE the case number?

Others have mentioned about generating the Barcode but I'm not leaning toward this "short cut" method.

Is there other faster way than waiting until NVC sends this DS-3032 to my parents (then they sign it, send it to me, etc..would take 1-2 months)?

Please advise. Thank you very much.

    refer to this.

  13. Here's how the story goes:

Brother (US citizen) applied for her sister's immigration. Sister had a son (11 then, 20 now) and daughter (15 then, 24 now). Case was at NVC stage, Case number assigned and fees paid, etc. Something happened in family and there was no communication between petitioner/beneficiary and NVC for over 5 years or so. Case was closed. Now they want to reopen the case (Case number from 2003). Questions:

    1) Is it even possible to open a case that old? What is the procedure?

    2) If open, can children (now 24 and 20) benefit from CSPA? (Case number was assigned at NVC in 2003 I believe, which would mean they were current at that time, right?)

    Thoughts?

Im afraid they might need to start from the beginning.

If a period of one year passes without contacting the NVC (by e-mail, telephone, or mail), all

submitted fees and documents will expire. Upon expiration, the fees and documents would need to

be resubmitted in order to continue the immigration process.
