DomRepMiami got a reaction from Speeds03 in interview anxieties
I honestly feel the same as you do but the only difference is that it is worse for me because our interview date is in 4 days. I am bringing with me everything that I could find for evidence whether they look st it or not I know that I was as prepared as I could have possibly been. As Steph said the rest is up to God. If they have truly made up their minds before the interview then I hope that we are approved already. I have had no RFE(s) or any problem so far so I am praying that is a good thing. I am leaving for D.R. in 2 days and once I get there my fiance and I will be practicing those questions all the way up to the interview. I don't want to leave any stone unturned. Continue to talk to all the GREAT people here in the D.R. crew because they are who have kept me calm and also kept me from making some pretty common mistakes. We all are really close and we are all willing to help in whatever way that we possibly can to get you to and through your big day. I am praying for a smooth interview for you and that your nerves are calmed more and more. Good luck and God bless.

    Its 15 processing fee. k1= $160 BP fee $15 non-re fee and the $80 at interview 240.00 + 15bp fee.
Exactly what Mr. Miami said but it depends on the exchange rate when you go. right now it seems the exchange rate is
    39 pesos to the dollar.

Maybe they are, who knows. They have been working fast the last couple of months so let's see what happens. Try to keep yourself busy, I know it's easier said than done.

People like you should just not comment. Why should she be frustrated you ask? Uhm, I don't know, maybe because like all of us she is desperate and emotionally struggling with the process like everyone on here is!!! :bonk:
A little encouragement and reassurance goes a long way. Don't be a negative nelly. Remember, if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.

Actually I did everything that you said in your response before I even read it... LOL! I called DOS first thing this morning and I told them about the problem and they told me to call the embassy right away and let them know about my situation. When I called the embassy I think I got someone at the call center but I explained everything to him and he took my information and said that he had to talk to his supervisor. When he returned he told me that everything had been taken care of and I had nothing to worry about. I asked him if I had to bring my son to the interview or pay an extra visa fee at the embassy (just to make sure) and he told me that I didn't have to bring my son or pay anything extra. I really don't know if it helped at all but I got his name before I hung up.
I am really glad that you responded because I really thought that I was either asking a very dumb question or people were getting tired of me. I feel a bit more relieved that I have taken care of this but still a little worried that it may come up again at the interview because I didn't speak to a supervisor directly. You are such a sweet person and I just want to thank you again for taking the time to respond to this post.

Even if you do get the packet from the embassy, here is the website for the US embassy in Santo Domingo detailing everything you need to have for the interview and you're also able to print out the forms. Even though I don't even have a NOA2, I filled these out for my fiance that way he can use them as an example and make sure they're filled out correctly in English.

Mr. Miami I was very impatient until I started this process however as you can tell I am so relaxed about this whole process I don't even believe it. yes am anxious for everything to finish but I know that God has all of our cases in his hands and I know he will let us know when our time has come. I do agree with you, you and your status are very positive and I love everyone of those messages, like you have 8 months without seeing my hubby just talking on the phone not even on webcam so I know the feeling all to well.. I really do miss him dearly but am excited cuz God has helped me in many ways I am now going in May for a weekend to celebrate my one year anniversary with him and the family and then ill go back for the interview then hopefully if all goes well back again in August to pick up my babies  The whole DR crew is great and wonderful couldn't have asked for a better crew

I am a very impatient person but I have learned a lot through this process. I am stressed because things are a bit crazy for me now but I am relaxed and very positive about this whole process. As far as I know, all of my VJ friends are positive and I would love to think that I am myself. There are just some days that things feel like they are taking forever and I miss mi reina. To be honest this post was not for me, I put it up here for you, Steph, Alia, Jersey, and others because I know it is worse for you guys. All those things that you said that you do to pass the time, I do it all the time but I still think about it a lot. I am not really a complainer or negative person and you could tell from a lot of my status updates that I love to be positive. I must admit though that all of you guys have been great through this whole process and we have all made friends for a long time to come because of VJ.

You must have a police certificate issued within 30 days of your interview to present to the embassy at the time of interview Confirm with the embassy as things do change but this is what I have ALWAYS seen.
For those of us who are doing CR-1 the process is slightly different as the PC is good to send to NVC for up to 6 months. However, we must also obtain ANOTHER PC at the time of interview, within 30 days of the interview.

My wife and I are having an argument about the police record that she needs for the interview at the embassy. I have read here many times that the police record is valid for only one month and she got her police record on February 29th. They told her when she was there that it doesn't expire for 6 months and that this is new. They said before that it expired in 2 1/2 months but now it is six. I want to know what the truth is and if there is anyone that I could call to find out because I don't want any problems when I get to the interview. PLEASE HELP

DomRepMiami reacted to KayDeeCee in Vaccinations for the Medical.
This may be how it is for Manila, but not all consulates are the same. For example, they do not give any shots for a K-1 applicant in Mexico. Also, for countries that do offer vaccinations for K-1 applicants, the fees for the vaccinations are extra and often pricey, and not included in the cost of the medical fee. People should be careful about giving consulate specific answers as blanket facts.
OP> I do not know how the medical and vaccinations work for the Dominican Republic. You should ask about the medical and vaccinations in the regional forum: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/forum/153-caribbean/
Ask specifically about the Dominican Republic in your title.

This is what VJ was made for... People like us that need information. If you have a question just ask no matter what others may think about it. If they don't like they have two options, either they can move on to the next topic or they can be an jack@$$ with their response. As far as your question goes, I would say that it really shouldn't matter even though I am not sure about that. I know it is hard for you at this moment because you are thinking about having to wait a while for your case to be processed. All I can say is hang in there and EVERYTHING will be okay. I know EXACTLY how you feel and I had to get to the point where I just forgot about it before I drove myself insane (LOL).

    Big red flag here.
    Huge sea of red.
    Bright red, the exploding kind.
The red monster hopes you can be manipulated easily.

Yes, manipulative people are fundamentally cowards. That's why they work at the level of underhanded, dirty emotional plays instead of honest above-board communication.
Him needing to conceal his actions.
The problem is projecting your own empathy, compassion, and understanding on to someone who has none of those traits.
I know you because I'm one of you. With one post I know. We have a disability others don't have: too much trust, naiivite', and gullibility, because we would never tell the lies and put on the phony face of the manipulator. We wear our hearts on our sleeve and do not realize a certain kind of predator is constantly on the hunt for people like us and once they zero in on us they go through the "evaluation phase" where they come to an understanding of all the buttons to push with us to get what they want. It's pretty easy for them to put on an act for a while, but in the long run their colors are going to shine through bright red.
We are people that will knock ourselves out to fix a problem that can't be fixed, and that's why manipulative people select us as targets. The innate trust and hope for good within us causes us to listen to words and see only the smiling face instead of watching the actions and the hands that are gripping our throat. You will have had trouble all your life with manipulative people whereas others for some reason don't.
There is an outstanding book for you called "In Sheep's Clothing" by Dr. George Simon. Please get this book in paperback online, the most recent edition. It is inexpensive and will answer so many questions for you. It will give you the ability to detect these kinds of people and categorize every single tactic they use by name. He's seen bright, beautiful people of accomplishment - PhD's, Corporate presidents, champion athletes, etc. that have been ground into dust by manipulative people because they have a defect they didn't understand about themselves and how to fix it. The irony is that these are the very kinds of people that instantly acknowledge error, have no problem admitting where they are wrong, are into self-improvement and can overcome Olympic-level obstacles. They just don't have the training. So that's what you need, and I promise you it is in this book. It is a very quick read, I did it in a day. I had read four by then but this is the best one for you.
Once I discovered this problem in myself I read voraciously and kept on reading, one book after another, until I understood every variant of manipulator from emotional vampires, to con-men, serial killers, etc. What you are going to discover is that you actually do have internal radar that you have been suppressing because of your warm, forgiving nature and boundless optimism. Your "gut instincts" are there. You just have to learn to pay attention to them.
In the short run you have to protect yourself from this person. This is the enemy, and one that has no scruples and will stop at nothing to get what he wants. The most dangerous possibility is setting you up for a VAWA claim if he gets the right coaching on it, although it is far harder for a man to do than a woman. Spend a little time on the Effects of Major Changes page here and there will be excellent advice on withdrawing your papers from USCIS, telling them it is over and getting him out of your life. I'm just the manipulator specialist and when I see people like me I want to put them on the road to recovery from this disability we share. There are some internet "Cliff's Notes" on "In Sheep's Clothing", and you can go through that while waiting for the paperback to arrive. But get started because I can clearly see that your radar was blinking red before he came here, and you suppressed that radar as you will have done with other manipulators who abused you.

I have never been through something like this, but all I can advice you is to remember your worth. Remember you come first. Do not put your foot down on how things are going to be or else he will try and take advantage of you if you let him. I wish you all the luck in the world, don't give up, it's too soon. Keep working on it, but sometimes it's a lost cause. As a woman I am sure you know if it ever gets to that point. God bless.

DomRepMiami got a reaction from Speeds03 in helpppp really confused :(
first off, congrats on the NOA2 and welcome to the waiting/stressing club (LOL). Speeds03 basically told you everything that you need to do at this point. I just wanted to re-state that you can use the number he gave you for the D.O.S. (Department of State) to call and find out the progress of your case (appointment date and when the packet was mailed), BUT you will definitely want to give it a couple of weeks. The fee at Banco Popular and the medical can wait until you receive the packet but try and get the police report out of the way as soon as possible. I have heard that the police record only lasts for 1 month but I am not totally sure about that. If you get any information on that I would love to know. The rest is just gathering all of your evidence and proof of your relationship just like Speeds03 said. Keep us posted

DomRepMiami reacted to Samantha78 in Stressed Out. No NOA1 yet. It's been a month + now.
We all started like you did....knowing nothing and learning as we went along....sometime the hard way. But my best advice to you is.....if you are ever doubtful about something like sending a paper or submitting something or calling somewhere....as us first because one wrong move can delay or screw up your journey. These people in the the visa offices are not forgiving and they are like worker bee's.....no sympathy, no emotion....never think they will be understanding because they won't.
There's a lot of people here to help you....especially the DR crew..lol.....we live on here and help each other a lot.

I wouldn't worry about the hard copy of the NOA1 as long as you have confirmation via text/email, that is enough. I'm sure you also verified with with USCIS that it, in fact, was approved.
As others said, you should request a hardcopy, for your files, but the more important hard copy would be the NOA2. As you know, the wait right now seems like forever for the NOA2. But don't get discouraged. When I started my process I received mine in 42 days. At that time there was a 3 month wait. Those timelines change once they are caught up but right now there is an overload so just be patient and expect to wait long, that way if you are lucky enough to get it sooner, you wouldn't have had your hopes up.
And yea, make sure to keep the timeline up to date so we can help you out.
BTW...no question is stupid. I've asked many and it was probably the millionth time that same question was asked.....
