If his parents afford that, I am sure he could have bought a much nicer house wherever he is from. Not everyone is from Africa or the poor parts of Asia, you know, some of us had quite nice lives back home.

Occasionally on VJ you see this topic come up about putting a cost on love and the process. Some, I feel are either too young or naive in fully understanding the commitment to travel and learning a new life and culture. As with many stages of life no matter how prepared you think you are there will be speed bumps and hard issues to overcome. Many may have large incomes or savings or go into large debt. Some may think they can travel to Philippines once and meet only once before there spouse arrives in US. It takes love, patience, commitment and hard work for both, honesty and communication. Most marriages fail in US because of finances. When someone starts putting a price tag on love and life many issues will come up on both. True love will prevail in the end or its not meant to be. Both must be committed to each other for ups and downs and do what it takes.

    1) Honey, the emergency is unfortunate but we don't have money to send you back home yet (remember I told you that I got that pay cut just after I filed for you?) and
    2) Oh, honey, we don't have money to bring you back yet so kick back with your family for a while and I'll send you some money as I get it.
Easy peasy - there's no shame in honesty

It's a valid question and shouldn't raise the eyebrows of any sane person.
Personally I think you will hear a lot of horror stories on here so the data won't represent well. This is not a relationship forum per see but an immigration one.
The requirements for the K1 visa is very minimal, meet at least once in two years, I mean seriously. So the success rate will show that on here. You will have folks who went on vacation, met someone, spent a few days and filed for K1, you will find serial petitioners who are geriatic and keep on petitioning for merely post teen beneficiarys. And then you will also find folks who petitioned someone from their old country who is of the same cultural and family backgrounds. One may expect those to have a higher success rate. Please note that I am nto recommending one over another, just trying to explain what the underlying false data issues may be.
It was misconstrued. Good luck on your VisaJourney.
