Actually you don’t really need to do this stuff. I went thru spousal visa too and none of this was needed, atleast for the visa process. No need to stress about it. But it’s your call.

You also have to check the income requirements for filing for that many people and consider the health care costs if your parents are of advanced age already.

And consider also the health care cost when that time comes.

She should’ve just applied for a tourist visa if your purpose is for her to meet your kids. Or you visit her. It’s more realistic that way.

OP came in under the F2B category. There’s NO waiting period to file for spouse or child.

When it’s time to submit the civil docs, provide PSA copy of her marriage certificate and NBI clearance for her maiden name with AKA for her married name (even if she never used her married name). A letter of explanation from you will also help clarify the “mistake”.

The DS160 is a pretty straight forward form. Just list all her occupations where she gets the income so the officer will have an idea how she earns a living. They will not ask for pay stubs or land title or any other document from her or you so don’t stress about that anymore.

    Good luck!👍🏼

Look at it this way... the F2B petition is for family reunification IN the US. If the petitioner is outside the US (worse together with the intending immigrant for years already) then there’s no point for NVC to process said petition. So common sense would say the petitioner should always be IN the US, get it? 😉

Hi. They filled out the DS160 and made the appointment on March 23rd. The earliest available was April 20th so that’s what my brother took. They already received their visas yesterday April 24th. They got 10yr multiple entry visas.

Apply 3 months prior to your intended travel date was the advise of the embassy. Appointment availability varies depending on the embassy’s work load.

Good luck to your mother in law!

i134 is not required when applying for a tourist visa. She can put your name on the DS160 as the PERSON PAYING FOR THE TRIP but that’s about it... however it’s not a guarantee for approval.

Technically there’s no sponsorship for the B2 visa. It’s not like the K1 or any other immigrant visa where a proper sponsor is required.

This is a sample questionnaire that I found here on VJ. Credits to the creator, I forgot her username.

I filled out the questions and sent it to my parents for them to memorize.  This is really a helpful guide.

She didn’t say it’s superior. Her point is you don’t need a smartphone to flag down a local taxi, unlike Uber or Grab. That way you won’t have to risk leaving your phone with the vendors outside the embassy. Or better yet just travel with a companion.
