apple21 got a reaction from Jeremy & Mia in Parents applying for a B2/Tourist Visa - APPROVED!
This is a sample questionnaire that I found here on VJ. Credits to the creator, I forgot her username.
I filled out the questions and sent it to my parents for them to memorize. This is really a helpful guide.

apple21 got a reaction from Sea Leslie in File Complaint Against NVC Representative.
That's pretty much a normal conversation with NVC.
Don't stress yourself over it.
Smile, call again and hope a "nice" operator sugar coats it for you. Good luck.

Questions asked by American consul:
1. Where are you traveling? We will travel to Los Angeles, California.
2. What’s the purpose of your visit? We will visit our daughter Apple21.
3. Is your daughter married? Yes.
4. How long has your daughter been in the US? She’s been in the US for 4 years already.
5. What’s your middle name for your single status? (This pertains to my mom’s maiden name.)
6. What’s the status of your daughter? She is a Lawful Permanent Resident.
7. What’s your occupation? I am retired now but previously I was a public school teacher (and my dad was an insurance underwriter).
8. How long will you stay in the US? We will stay there for 2 weeks only.
My parents are both 71 years old.
They were interviewed together (US Embassy Manila, Philippines).
No additional documents needed at the embassy.
They just brought their passports and DS160 confirmation sheets.
On the DS160 question on WHO WILL SPONSOR YOUR TRIP, they wrote my brother’s name who is also traveling with them. He has a high paying job in the Philippines. He already has a valid B2 visa and he’s the one paying for the airline tickets. They didn’t include my name anymore coz my brother is really the one with the moolah! Lol.
Tips:
Be consistent. Whatever you wrote on the DS160 that should also be your answer during the interview.
Be relaxed as much as possible.
Be polite.
Be presentable. Wear atleast smart casual as if you’re going to a job interview (yes even for parents!)
Don’t stress/bother about additional docs like invitation letters or bank statements/affidavit of support/land or car titles....THEY ARE NOT NEEDED. THEY ARE NOT REQUIRED.
Good luck! I hope you get approved as well! 😊

Last update: passports received! 👍🏼

apple21 got a reaction from geowrian in How petition a stepdaugther after i-130 approbal for wife
What he did is correct. Only 1 i130 for his wife. The stepdaughter will benefit from that as a derivative. No need to file another i130 for stepdaughter. During the NVC stage, he will pay the visa for his wife and stepdaughter (2 payments). And when they get the visa, he will pay the immigrant fee for his wife and stepdaughter (2 payments again) before they fly to the USA.

apple21 got a reaction from Boiler in How petition a stepdaugther after i-130 approbal for wife
First of all, how old is the stepdaughter or stepson now? And did the parents marry before the child's 18th birthday?
Your post is confusing.

apple21 got a reaction from NRM in First time applying for child US passport how long?
Oooppsss wait... I got confused. Lol.
Hubby and 3 kids applied together at the post office. It was the lady who put the package together. She said it's okay that there is only 1 naturalization certificate because the kids are all getting citizenship from their father. However she only included photocopies of the other required docs so we got a letter saying they need the originals.
We received 3 letters (for each child) saying they need their original birth certificates and our marriage certificate. It's the MC that we only have 1 original so that's the one that we had to explain in the cover letter that 1 MC for all 3 applications.

Hi. We sent them all in one package with a cover letter stating that only 1 naturalization certificate for the 3 applications. We only have 1 original marriage certificate as well so we also explained that in the letter. Kids were born out of wedlock but legitimated by parents' subsequent marriage. It was my husband who naturalized.

apple21 got a reaction from geowrian in Tourist visa denied
They don't really have to since they keep a record of your previous application/s. They just have to compare the new ds160 to the old one and they'll see if there are any changes.

He must provide his original birth certificate and his mom's original naturalization certificate as proof.

apple21 got a reaction from Mayi & MiMi in Student wanting to visit the IS
There's no sponsorship for a B2 visa. The applicant must fill out the DS160, pay fee, schedule the interview and appear at the interview. That's it. NO paperwork from sponsor required. The interviewing officer DOES NOT care about that. The applicant will be approved or denied based on what's on the DS160 and his/her answers during the interview. Good luck!

apple21 got a reaction from Bill Hamze in Other relatives on DS-160 include in-laws?
Immediate and Other Relatives = blood relatives (parents, siblings, children)
Only exception is spouse.
In laws are not classified as relatives.

I didn't take mine. I didn't submit it either online. My officer didn't ask for it. I applied based on 5 yr residency.

apple21 got a reaction from Carpe Vinum in Cell phone Usage While Traveling to the US
I wouldn't recommend postpaid for an immigrating person. The bill for roaming would be ridiculously expensive. 😆
I used a prepaid sim on my phone on the way here with UNLIMITED DATA and that's how I communicated with my hubby whilst at NAIA 2. Once at LAX, I didn't have the time to contact him because of the chaos, LOL. He just waited for me at the exit gate. 😁

Depends on your location.
I'm in LA. Approved interview June 7th. Still waiting for oath schedule.

apple21 got a reaction from DaehanMingukManse in Wife's legal name on form I-130(merged)
There's no "legal" proceeding for a name change using the husband's last name. You can change all your ID's and passport into your married name. All you have to do is present the NSO/PSA marriage certificate.
On the i130, there's a question for all other names used, that's where she write her maiden name.

Regular international SMS will cost a fortune. She needs an alternative to that.
