P+J got a reaction from Romet in How exactly do you contact your congressman
It could potentially slow down your approval. Just try to hang in there. I was so tempted to do it. After talking to my attorney I found out why it could have some negative results. USCIS does not want us using Congress to accelerate approvals. They only way it is of benefit is when your petition is beyond 6 months processing. Then at some point you will qualify for an expedite or they will regard the inquiry more seriously as opposed to the standard response of "within processing time." Just hope that VSC pulls itself together. They need to get through these petitions.

The better half just texted me that her interview went well, and our visa was approved. Would have loved to have been there, but had to work. She'll most likely be in the U.S. before the end of the month. Pretty exciting stuff!

Definitely man. It's crazy. About 3.5 months later than the petitions coming out of VSC. It's crazy how bad VSC still really is. I'll just be glad for the interview to be done and to move forward with my life now. I wonder if the consular officers notice something such as this? Wait was crazy.

I think so! there is no other reason for a denial except if you sent them nothing from the list they posted on the USCIS website... I know some people say there isn't much explained but a few days ago I have found an official list which pretty much indicates what needs to be sent with the petition so we are safe!

I noticed someone for 1/18 had withdrawn their petition..it was actually dated as an update for today August 2nd when I checked around 8 am. Looks like they're up and working quite early today. It still seems to keep with the trend that good things happen in the afternoon. ha. and the morning is hard to determine what you'll see.

My attorney's office said that they got up the chain of command when they called and were told that Monday (August 6th) it is expected that the current processing date will be updated. so hopefully, finally, on this day either the rest of us have already been approved..or...we have the ability to actually expedite our cases. We'll see what happens...Advancing the processing date about a week would help a lot of us still waiting. It's that void in the middle of the month that continues to struggle. I am going to save my Senator until this occurs because I don't think it would be worth it to cash those chips in yet...I'd rather that date be changed before I try anything else now...And it would be nice to hear what the Congressman's office receives in response. Still not sure why it would take so long for them to hear something.

I hope it will be tomorrow or Wednesday Islandgal. Thanks everyone for the support. It is crazy the length of time but maybe now it will be coming to an end. Tomorrow will be 195 days without a word at all from them...I think there's only 1 other user from the January filers who is currently active and waited a similar amount of time (with a received date of 1/18 or before). It would be great to be approved before July is over..Only 1 day left. I don't want to get any closer to 7 months...

P+J got a reaction from bmiles62 in When should I have a Senator petition on my behalf?
It's impossible to know if they'll be able to do anything at all. Some representatives have more experiences than others with any meaningful level of interaction with USCIS. I have been waiting over 6 months (194 days today) and unfortunately even my representatives aren't able to put the pressure needed to speed up the adjudication process. I would be prepared to wait up until 7 months (odds are you will have an approval before then). But processing times fluctuate frequently and you could be waiting as short at 120-130 days or as long as 200+. There is no consistency in the process. Just be ready for the ride of your life...it's impossible to survive without a superhuman level of patience

I've hit rock bottom too. There's only so many times you can receive their random excuses before you really start feeling complete and utter despair. They have no reason to focus on I-130s. Why in the world would they being doing that with the backlog that they have on K1s? It's just an attempt to placate and deflect any questions again. Keep us all submissive just like how they advanced the processing date a mere week from the 9th to the 16th after working on that one week for about 1 and a half months. Things are so bad right now that when they really do start approving we are going to see close to the worst average processing time ever on Visajourney. It's got to be at least in the 180s now. Guess they're going for their 189 day record again... ..It seems they answer to no one. We're certainly going to set the record for the largest thread here at some point. But unfortunately, it's not normal. It shouldn't be like this...wish I had filed just a week earlier and this would have been maybe done by now...

Yes. There is really no time table now as the processing dates seem arbitrary and the goal processing time remains unchanged..so it's basically a black hole when it comes to consistent information. I would say the lack of consistency is the absolute worst aspect of the process. It just makes everything much harder to endure when there seems to be such randomness ranging from approvals to who succeeds with service requests or congressional inquiries.

Yes. The only positive thing I can say is that VSC to NVC to Consulate looks to be pretty fast...Now if we could just get NOA2...8 VJ timelines approved at CSC again yesterday. The problem is just that Vermont is doing something else. Whatever it is..Whether it be H1B or something we don't even know about..It has their full attention..It has to be something pretty significant because the approvals just aren't coming in.

Yup. there will be some 8 monthers... wouldn't wish that on anyone...this whole processing date ####### is really frustrating me..because it's just these random jumps with no real logic to it. so we went from 9 to 16 okay? Then we'll go to what 23..somewhere between that time in the jump they should be working on our dates. so it prevents us from bringing attention to it until long after they've "finished" with that date...and will they wait until the middle of August to update these times again? jeeze. This is what happens when there's no accountability, no deadlines, and the freedom to manipulate a system to one's benefit. That is why there should always be independent oversight. Now we're dealing with this situation, and it could even be worse for others after us..

definitely...from what I remember in that topic..the last time this happened was due to a labor problem (not just shifting toward processing another type of petition)..maybe there's labor problems again? And the former adjudicator really seemed to focus on their tendency to approve petitions when they can and not RFE for arbitrary things...(also he mentioned that contact from a representative usually indicates pull file and work immediately...but don't know how much has changed and what has remained the same....seems like strange times at VSC. I just hope I hear something from my Congressman soon.

Yup service requests are useless. They are an imaginary way for USCIS to dupe us into thinking we've actually done something to facilitate the approval of the petition. They'll get to it when they get to it..Only thing that has worked for some people is Congressional or Senatorial inquiries and even they have limited levels of effectiveness. It depends on how familiar your representatives are with their options to help you..

Theories range from H1B fiscal year coming to a close at the end of the month to a complete random redirection of resources away from K1s and the other family visas...No one has a definitive answer. Nevertheless, it's pretty bad right now, and we are all praying that it doesn't become an average of 180-200 day wait for adjudication...This week has been the worst at VSC in a very very long time..Last time VSC was operating like this was over 1.5 year ago..and it wasn't pretty..

Yup. It appears VSC imploded on us...whatever happened..it was bad. and probably extends far beyond an H1B fiscal year ending issue...I would not be surprised to see 180-200 day processing times as an average now. They have quite the mess on their hands. And tragically there will be no way to resolve it for a while. A week of complete inactivity will have done nothing to help the situation this week..
