YourHumboldtBud got a reaction from N-o-l-a in Embassy Slow Processing
this is why people keep saying don't buy a ticket until you have the visa in hand, or be ready to spend extra time in PI if needed. once the visa leaves the embassy it's on 2go to handle it from there. as with just about any company in the PI things move at a slower pace. following updates are more of a headache than anything else. there are so many factors that can delay the process.
let me share an example my aunt after going through the entire process +25 years in the making; made it all the way to the approval and all she needed to was wait for the visa. on route to delivery the delivery person from 2go DROPPED her passport in some other part of manila. luckily someone who was honest found the passport and called my aunt directly. when my aunt called the 2go customer service they completely denied that had happened, and they gave every excuse in the book why the passport never got delivered on the scheduled day. so my aunt made arrangements and picked up the passport from the person who found it. anyways you can imagine what happened when my aunt showed up to the main office with her passport that was still in "transit" in hand to yell at someone at the company. anything can happen, especially in the PI.

YourHumboldtBud got a reaction from Juliet and Steve in Visa To Enter Philippians
If you've at least a month to spare you can always get the visa from the closest Philippine consulate. I went to the one in SF several years ago in person and got it handled within a day. If you send it through the mail it can take several weeks. It was good for up to 60 days stay.
It's a zoo trying to get it done in Manila. I wasted a day jumping from one line to the next back in September 2012. Make a copy of your passport info and arrival stamp if you plan to do it in PI, have a BLACK ballpen because they wont have any you can borrow(of course), but you can purchase them at the xerox area if you forget. Oh yes make sure you have Pants and Shoes on as well, no matter how hot it is. The guards won't let you in. Which they will point to the hand written sign should you get testy. You can always work with the street kids who work with the guards to rent some should you forget for a bargain price... I saw them provide some nice Neon Blue and Yellow Sweatpants to some guy for the price of how much you got....which he paid 200Php. The visa fee itself which was like 3300 Php or something around that price range.
