  1. I'm hoping someone can clarify this for me... I thought that the NVC only used the documents provided in the original petition packet. If they need both the police record and the court record, wouldn't cases get RFEs from the VSC or CSC before even reaching the NVC? And then, wouldn't it be the Consulate in Casa that would require the updated court/police records for the interview (and thus again, not the NVC)?? Am I missing something here??

  2. I started calling USCIS' customer service line: 800.375.5283. The series of numbers you push to get to a live person is 1-2-1-1-2-2. In other words:

    press 1 for English,

then 2 for filing your petition not online,

    then 1 for immigration services,

then 1 to check status of your application,

then 2 for "I don't know my receipt number".

The auto attendant will tell you where to look,

then you enter 2 again to say you've lost it.

They'll then transfer you to a live person (assuming you call between 8a and 8p EST).

The person won't help you unless you have the receipt number handy, though.

If you're officially outside the 5-month goal timeline for adjudicating a K-1 case, then you can ask to file a status request. They'll ask you some questions and tell you that you should hear back within 15 days. It took me 2 days after I filed to get my NOA2. I hope this helps.

  3. I wanna be next :D They hung uo on us yesterday saying they working on Jan 9th as usuall.

    GRATZ !!!!!

First, I want to say thanks to everyone for your support!!! Next, JBH, I started calling the VSC the day after our 5-month mark. I called for 3 days in a row, and on the third day someone finally was willing to file a status request. I called back the next day acting like I didn't know I was supposed to wait 15 days... that was yesterday. I was really nice, but I just kept calling. I don't know if that helped or not, but might be worth a try. Good luck!! :D:thumbs:

  4. I have to agree on the bit about too much info not being a good thing. Specifically with relation to your case because Nigeria is considered a high fraud post. That said, sex and sexual activity is a very intimate thing that a CO will argue can be used to make the manipulated party feel as though the relationship has a level of authenticity that for the manipulator isn't there. This is because when sex is involved, for a lot of people, there's an automatic assumption that the relationship is at a certain point. I'm not saying in any way that this is the case for you; I'm saying it can be the case for some couples if the beneficiary is simply using the petitioner to get to the US.

Further, I don't know what the major religion is in Nigeria, but if it happens to be Islam, sleeping together before marriage (or sexual activity in general) is a HUGE taboo. It's not like it doesn't happen, but it's not something that a legit couple would necessarily be willing to share with the world because it's private and the couple doesn't want to be viewed as a sinner and bring shame to him/herself and those with whom they associate. So again, this would raise a red flag with a CO.

Finally, it's a simple enough matter to print out what you want to send, then black out the text you don't want them to see with a Sharpie. That way the CO can see that there's a chat record without reading your personal details. You're better off providing evidence that there was a conversation via time stamped print outs than by letting them read your personal content. Just sayin'

  5. I apologize that you are not helped by this thread. In that case, please go to another thread. Your negativity isn't needed here. And I'm really sorry that you seem to have having a rough time. But please don't take it out on others.

Dont apologize, AmberLynn... the only person this Negative Nancy has to blame is himself for being so negative. We're all here to feel like we're in the boat together and we're not alone in our obsessions to know what the heck's going on with our visa petitions. I personally feel like this is a great thread, and I'm so thankful to know that even though I'm stressed about the more than 5 months time that's already passed since our NOA1, that there are other people out there who are going through the same thing. Way to go!!!

  6. VERY interesting!! I've started reading the Koran over the past few days (as my fiance is Muslim and I am not--just to have a better understanding), and this is something I've always wondered about in the religion as well as in politics and governance in Morocco. I've always thought it kind of bizarre that sex before mahttp://static-forums.visajourney.com/public/style_images/master/rte_icons/font_color.pngrriage is common in Morocco, and yet you can be arrested for even just kissing... will be interesting to see how this plays out.

  7. Who do you call about that. You got me nervous a little bit now because. They received mine on March 27th and I received my NO1 on March 29th. My fiance didn't get a letter requesting more information. What is the number you call to get the information you guys are getting.

I called the customer service number listed on the USCIS site where you check your petition status (provided in your NOA1 documentation). You have to wade through the auto-attendant to a live person. As of Friday, they were still on January 9th. The 5 month goal applies to any RFE's as well. So you may not have a request for more evidence for quite some time, either, if you get that as opposed to an NOA2. Your 5 month window comes up on August 29th. So you have a while yet... settle in and enjoy the ride.

  8. I wouldn't stress yet; after all, it's only been 3 business days since the petition's arrival at Dallas Lockbox. The case won't get processed there anyway. It has to go either to the California or Vermont Service Center (depending on where in the country you live), and then it's a week or two before an NOA, usually. I've seen it take up to three weeks with some cases on here.

  9. Hi Nicky,

I'm not sure if you saw my last topic post in the Morocco portal, but I spoke to my attorney this week about the whole VSC slowdown. She said their office is about a month behind on processing pretty much all requests at this time. She didn't have any more insight than that, except to say that everything they've sent from her office to VSC (various immigration cases, and not only K-1 or C1/R1) is getting responses three to four weeks after the posted time frame goals. Since immigration is the only type of law this office practices, I'm guessing she's got a pretty good idea of what she's talking about. I know it doesn't make you feel any better about not having any notification (believe me, I'm right there with ya!!), but just so you know...

  10. I've seen responses to several questions about Obama's executive decision having an effect on the VSC processing times (and might even have been guilty of it myself). I spoke with my attorney earlier this week, and she had an excellent point. Those cases are not even being processed yet. And once they start rolling in, it'll be such a big deal they'll probably end up hiring new staff to handle just that. So I don't think this is the reason for the slow down. I do agree, though, that it sucks! I'm a January 31st filer, myself, and our petition has been passed over by February cases, but yet there are still a ton in the middle of January that need processing. There doesn't appear to be any rhyme or reason to it. Good luck to all!!

  11. I have no intention whatsoever of trying to bribe a federal official. I do have a legitimate reason for asking and would appreciate helpful commentary only. :wow: For a site where people are supposed to be supportive of each other, since we're all pretty much in the same boat, there sure are a lot of bitter people with nothing but snide remarks. I'm so tired of seeing people picking on one another here. If you can't be helpful, then don't comment. It's that simple.

Well now a NOA2 for July is almost not an option anymore, even August... Even with my fiance congressman involved I don't think it will make much of a difference. Definitely no wedding for us in 2012 ! This process is the mist painful thing i have ever gone through...Sorry people but I just feel lime crying now

Yup. It appears VSC imploded on us...whatever happened..it was bad. and probably extends far beyond an H1B fiscal year ending issue...I would not be surprised to see 180-200 day processing times as an average now. They have quite the mess on their hands. And tragically there will be no way to resolve it for a while. A week of complete inactivity will have done nothing to help the situation this week..

1/13/12 - I-129F Petition Submitted to Dallas Lockbox

1/18/12 - Received at Vermont Disservice Center

    1/20/12 - NOA1

    1/24/12 - Touched

    2/09/12 - Touched

Just out of curiosity, how do you know your case was "touched" on 1/24 and 2/9? I received my NOA1 on 1/31, but I've not had any word at all since then...

  13. It looks to me like they might've seen a couple of red flags... you listed proof of financial transactions. Does this mean proof of money sent to the beneficiary by the petitioner? If so, that's suspect for any high fraud consulate (though I don't know if yours is one since you haven't listed where you're case is from/for). Also, it doesn't sound like you sent much to support the legitimacy of your relationship. You have to keep in mind that the CO who reviews your file is looking at it from the perspective that your relationship is false, until you've given them irrefutable evidence that it's real. Have you sent them evidence that shows the length of your relationship? How your families feel about your marriage? friends/family memebers' accounts of your relationship being real (and how they know--do they see you together, etc.) A handful of pictures and chat logs isn't much evidence to prove that you're actually a couple. And depending on which consulate you're dealing with, this can completely make or break your case.
