  2. It seems like my journey is almost over! My interview letter is on it's way according to the update online. My interview will be on July 16th.This feels surreal lol.I really want to thank everyone is gave me advice, encouragement, etc. You know who you are and so do I  I did not get an RFE so im praying that I dont get one at the interview.Again, thank you all from the bottom of my heart ! Good luck to you all in everything that you are trying to accomplish. Please wish me luck for the interview !!

  3. It's normal.

We're both in the same boat, timeline-wise.

Most likely we will both hear something within the next fortnight, probably interview notices. Any RFE would likely have been sent already.

Omg I sure hope you're right about that

i diddnt hear anything for a month and a half. so dont worry. no news is good news.

    I hope so ! :-)

  4. So my AOS package was received on April 16th or 17th.My Biometric appointment was on May 4th.As of now,I still have not received any notices nor has there been an update online. My AOS application is still under "Accepted," and my Employment Authorization is under "Review."Is it normal to not receive any notification at this point? BTW,the I 130 was sent separately on January 23,2012 but my case became concurrent.

  5. Can I ask what he asked and what you said when you got your job back? It was good of you to try and great to read you had a great day today :)

I myself have started a temp job and there are times during the day when I feel myself thinking "I don't wanna be here" but I think about how great it is to FINALLY be working again, great to get paid, great to talk/meet new people and great that I am finally able to say i've done more than sit at home all day :) then i get home from work and I'm happy to have gotten through another day. The more i learn the more in control I feel and the less stressed out and hate it less.

    Good luck!

Well,I was honest with my Manager.I explained to him that this is my first job and I felt overwhelmed.I was stressed out ! He and his Assistants understood and they decided to rehire me.The day I got rehired was actually pay day.Seeing the direct deposit in my bank account felt awesome.I finally earned my first paycheck and of course I spent it all within two days Lol.Im actually looking foward to my next work day.I know some days will be more stressful than others but I'll handle it !Oh and my coworkers found out what happened and made me feel very welcomed when I return.Thank you and everyone else who motivated me during that stressful week :-)

:thumbs:See takes a little time to get use to it GF but after that you will love working and getting that check on pay day :dance:

    Absolutely !

    I can't believe they rehired you.blink.gif

I could ! I just got it like that ! Im kidding...It was a bit surprising, honestly.Im just glad I got rehired.

  6. Pran Patience ti pitit.

I share your feelings because my wife was in the same situation, where the stress at work was too much and after a a couple of months there she just couldn't take it anymore. One day she called me and she was crying about the situation at work, I told her the money is not worth it, your peace of mind is priceless so pack your bag and come home.

A couple of years later she still talks about it, she should have stick to it and not quit, but " Le pase, se le Pas, nou paka change sa" past is the past there's nothing we can do about it, mwen expecte ou apran'n on bagay de experyans lan e sa ap few pi fo pou lot travay.

    Die Beni 'w

:-) I will.Change can be hard.Like I said, this is my first job ever.It was overwhelming for me the first couple of days, but I think I am a bit more relaxed now. You're right, you cannot change the past. You could just use it as a learning experience..Thank you for your message .I really appreciate it :-)

  7. Congratulations.

I'm sorry people here have given rude, inappropriate responses. Some people aren't interested in helping others or being compassionate to situations, they are simply here to make others feel bad about themselves. Ignore them.

I'm glad you got your job back - the first job is always hard, especially for the quiet ones who don't speak up when they disagree with something or feel like they don't fit in. Go in every day with a positive attitude, and attempt to learn new things. It's horrible to go in every day knowing you don't want to be there. If you think that way, your days are going to drag on and on and you'll hate every minute of it.

You'll adjust. It just takes time. Good luck to you. :)

    [/

Thanks :-) I actually had a great day today and my coworkers greeted me very well.I hope positive days like this continue.Plus ,I had my first paycheck today so Im even more motivated about going to work ! Btw,I pay absolutely no mind to the rude, useless comments.

  8. I think you have to approach your next job with different expectations. And understand that it can take time (months) to feel as though you fit in to a new team of people.

This is my standard approach to a new job:

In my head I split my thinking about it into two 3-month halves.

For the first three months I expect to find it difficult and hard while I get used to the new place, people and rules. When it gets tough in those first three months I remind myself that it's often tough in a new job, it's just part of the process and it's going to get better.

At the three-month-mark (which I mark in my diary) I assess the situation. If it's really bad at this point, I make a commitment to do three more months but to also start looking for a new job at the same time.

At the six-month-mark I assess the situation again. Every single time I've done this I've found that I've hit my stride, made at least one good friend in the company and am generally happy with the job. However if I had not been I would also have had several good leads for the next job.

I'm also pretty structured in my job hunt strategy. I call it 4x4. For the first four days of each week I aim to do four things a day towards the job hunt. They can be pretty small things - make a call, update a part of a resume, buy a trade magazine. Or bigger - create a website, have a meeting with a mentor etc.

Then for the last three days of the week I relax and try not to think about the job hunt to give myself a breather. It might not work for everyone but I find it keeps the ball rolling and I find it's also possible to do while working your current job.

Really though..This is an awesome strategy.

  9. Go ask for your job back and just explain things to your boss as you did to us. That you're overwhelmed with all the adjustments, etc. I'd imagine she'll understand. If she doesn't, you got some good advice for job searching already. I really can't add to it other than...when you go out searching, put on your best outfit and be lookin GOOD  I used to have a really cute suit I called my "lucky suit" because every time I would wear it to interviews , I seemed to always get the job

I did and he wants to see me tomorrow morning ! Wish me luck :)

Getting a job is not the problem, the issue is she doesn't want to work and when she did was shocked that the work environment isn't sitting eating cookies and watching Duck Dynasty.

    Ok really funny !

The manager wants to see me tomorrow morning ! i am so confused.A big part of me wants to stay at home, the other part wants some financial independence.Oh boy.Im a total mess

  10. Most people here have suffered through some sort of pretty dismal first job experience (mine was Wendy's! yay, french fry grease!). For me, the unpleasantness was more than offset by the thrill of transitioning to being a contributing member of society: I had a really strong, irrepressible desire for independence and all the responsibilities and privileges that come with it, and work was the only way to start moving toward those goals.

So...what do you hope to gain from working? It sounds like you do not need the money enough or desire independence/pulling your weight enough to keep plugging away at something that isn't fun. Those are the things that keep other people going to work even when they aren't enjoying what they do, and developing those motivations & a good work ethic are a big part of what separates childhood/adolescence from adulthood. You keep talking about needing to grow and mature? Well, working and sticking with things are a good way to do that.

You are so right.I need to either get this job back or try and get another one.

  11. Go and ask for your job back. Good learning experience.

I'll swallow my pride and ask..Omg im nervous.

Act like an adult. A lot of folks work for a $hitty boss or in a $hitty environment but they turn in everyday because there are bills to be paid, kids to take care of or an ultimate goal to be achieved. You need references for future job opportunities and you just pissed on your first one.

:-/ Well Im gonna call my manager and see what he says.I want my job back.

  12. I think you have to approach your next job with different expectations. And understand that it can take time (months) to feel as though you fit in to a new team of people.

    will certainly a[[

Oh my.I will definately try that approach.Too bad I didn't read your post before I quit.I will certainly apply this method the next time around :-)

  13. You are just over whelmed, maybe you could of stuck it out and figured it out as you went. Your boss is not your friend and most bosses won't tell you to take your breaks, you need to remember to take them, unless she was preventing you from taking them at all then that is something else. Also it may not be the right fit for you. Try again with something else, and just take it day by day. I also quit my first job here in the US,it wasn't right for me, I have back problems and really should not of accepted that position to begin with (wasn't what I applied for either). Anyways go out looking again and try it out fresh, it is not because you didn't work as a teenager getting into the work force at any age or being out of it for awhile can be hard.

Thank you.Over whelmed is the right word.I will try again.

  14. Learn form this experience and apply it toward a new job. I wish you the best on your next one.

    Thanks :-)

You shouldn't Of Quit  . It Takes Time To Adjust To Working. As time goes it will become easier .Time to grow up GF Go back out there and get another Job and don't quit :thumbs:Good Luck........Rina

It does take time.I don't know what I was thinking by quitting.Do you think I will look like a fool if I called them and tried to get my job back?

  15. Guys,I quit my first job ever after working less than week ! I feel like a quitter.I worked at a retail store and I dreaded going to work.My manager would ask me to work over time and would not give me enough break time. She would act like she already said to take a break.I was told that I would get a 15 min break and a 45 min break. She never told me to take 15.And when I realized it,it would be time to go home.I felt misplaced, used and unhappy. My coworkers were pretty friendly, but I didnt feel like I could relate to them.Im more like the quiet and they are so funny and talkative. This is a huge blow to my self esteem. All I ever wanted to do was be a legal, active member of society. And now that im getting the chance to work and live a normal life,I quit.I think being out of status since I was a child impacted my growth.I should have had my firs job at 16 not 20 something.I feel socially akward!I have some confidence in myself, but I feel like there's a lot of growth and maturing that needs to be done.Any advice??

  16. had you consider looking for a different job that gives you a real purpose to work?

some retail jobs can be very crappy imo.

Its not easy to get a job iin my field of interest with no experience and just an Associates Degree. But yeah,I would so much prefer something health related or maybe clerical? i just don't see myself in retail. These past 3 days have been miserable for me.

  17. I truly don't know what all the fuss is about.

This is your first job in the USA. You should be happy, after all of that 'out of status' time you accrued.

So happy, that yer writing effusive tomes about how happy you are to finally fully participate in the USA as a legal permanent resident.

I thought I would be happy ! its strange because this is what I wanted for so long.Im so confused..maybe even depressed after having to wait so long for me to finally be an "active member of society." I really don't know why im feeling this way. It's really scarey to be honest.
