Hello again,
Just a follow up about the Global Entry, we were conditionally approved for Global Entry on 01/29 and had our interview at JFK in late February. I sent my ROC on 03/17, so it was pretty much bang bang. I didn't get the Global Entry for the ROC, I got it because my wife would like to go back to the D.R. often, and I didn't want her or my kids waiting in long immigration lines coming back.

Why is the VSC moving so slowly?
Why was Matt1968 who filed on 3/17 approved so early (congrats, btw!) while the rest of the batch that filed well before Matt1968 aren't even tapped at all?
Is there any reasonable explanation at all?

Thanks for the congrats! I don't know why mine was approved before others (I don't know if they were approved and just didn't come back to let us know) but I think maybe because My family and I was approved for the global entry program before I sent in my ROC might have played a part. We were approved and accepted into the program so I included copies of our Global entry ID cards and approval letters with the package. Since a background check is done by immigration for global entry, this might have saved us some time with the ROC. Just a theory.

Hello All,
Just a quick update, my wife and step-daughter received their 10 year green cards today! Hopefully others will get there's soon. Also, the actual approval date according to the letter was 09/05/14.

Hello All,
First congrats to the new approvals, especially the VSC, it's time to get a move on. I just wanted to report my wife came back from the D.R yesterday and because her green card expired while she was gone she had to have the letter for her and her daughter, who's card also expired. At the airport in Santiago, no issues they made copies of the letters twice, at check-in and going through immigration. When we arrived in the States, we have global entry but because their cards expired we had to go to one of the booths. There's two placed there to help out issues. However, the person we got (name on tag was Bennett) was about the most rude TSA worker I've ever encountered. He didn't want to be there and it showed. Everyone else was so helpful until we got to him. When we walked up to him he huffed and started saying "You may have Global entry but that doesn't mean you can bring your family through." I stopped him and said, "Whoa man, My whole family has Global entry." I showed him our ID's and he said, "then why are you here." I said because my wife and Daughter's green card expired. He looked at the cards and their passport. Since he wasn't going to ask, I said, "We have the letters of extension." and held them out. He tooked them from me and put them on the counter. He kept going back to the cards then letter, cards then letter. He huffed some more and put our passports and the cards and the letters together and said, "You have to come with me." I said, "Why?" he said, Just come with me. He said walk straight ahead( Now mind you, I'm not alone, I'm with my 2 year old, 10 year old and wife. Had I been alone we would've had some issues but I don't like making a scene with my family with me.) and we did and then yelled "Left!" I felt like I was back in the Navy. We walked into Passport control and he told us to have a seat and gave our information to an officer sitting at a desk, then walked out. The first thing the officer looked at was the letters and said to another officer with him, "What is he doing, they got letters, why he do this?" I walked over to him and said, "I don't understand why we're here, I thought the letters were fine." He must have been shocked I heard him say it and said, "It's ok, I'll take care of it." It wasn't a helpful tone he used, but the trying not to throw his co-worker under the bus tone. Needless to say I was very pissed off at having to go through this. From landing to getting through customs took about 45 mins which was 40 mins to long. My take from this is, if you have the letter, normally it's not an issue but you may run into agent Bennett who doesn't want to do his job and doesn't care who he inconvience.

Hello everyone,
I'm still waiting for approval for my wife 10 year G.C. and I have a question. I know that you can still travel with your expired G.C. and the original extension letter. My question is has anyone traveled specifically to D.R. with the extension letter and make it back without any problems leaving D.R. Specifically Santiago. My wife is there now and she has the letter and her expired G.C. and I would like to know if anyone had any issues with them not understanding the letter or even knowing what it is since they seem to only speak Spanish and the letter is in English. Thanks

Yes, she will get a 1-year extension on her current green card when she submits the I-751.
Yes, this is true. But If she's leaving the country, she will need to bring with her the letter USCIS will send to her granting her the 1-yr extension. This is sent to your wife after applying for R.O.C. Don't be caught out of the country without that letter. If her GC expires before she comes back, they will probably asked to see the letter.

because we both share the same NOA1 date from VSC, I was wondering if you have received your biometrics? By comparing our NOA1 date with CSC applicants such as "JACANG" & "S&C1", we ought to have receive the biometrics by now.

I came home today, a few hours ago and checked the mail and still haven't received my biometric letter. I logged on to check the status of other people with a date around mine to see where they are at. You're right, going by the C.S.C, we should've gotten ours by now. I'm thinking they might be a little behind, but I don't know why. But yeah, I saw the C.S.C people got their's and they have the same dates as you and I. I'm thinking tomorrow or Thursday we should be getting ours, I'll let you know.

I posted this somewhere else, but i'll post it here as well. My daughter ended up receiving her I-797 the next day. It was different from my wife's and it basically said she was added as a dependent on my wife's I-751 and will be processed along with my wife. Hope this helps.

Same thing happened to me. My wife is from Dominican republic and received her I-797 but my 9 year old step-daughter was not on it and did not receive one herself. So, im assuming this is normal, i've been seeing different responses to this all over the internet. Hopefully someone can confirm whether this is the norm or not.

Just wanted to follow up. Today I received a I-797 for my daughter in the mail. It was different than my wife's and it said," Verification of inclusion of a dependent in filing of form I-751". It was only a paragraph long and state that she was giving a one year extension and she could travel..blah,blah,blah. So I guess that's how it's done. A I-797 for the Principal(My wife) and then a verification of inclusion I-797 for the dependent.

Quick question the 1797 had wife's name but not 8 year old child--- will he get a separate one---- he was on the I 751 filed and fee for his biometric was paid

We also received my wife's R.O.C NOA1, but nothing for my 9 year old step-daughter. She was listed as well on my wife's I-751. I looked around the internet trying to find out if this is normal or should I inquire further and i'm seeing mixed answers. I'm going to wait a week and see what comes but until then can anyone confirm whether or not this is normal or not? Thanks.

-copy of uscis form I-551 for wife and step-daughter
-copy of joint tax returns for the year 2013
-copy of birth certificate for our daughter
-copy of our health insurance cards showing a joint policy
-copy of our credit cards(Mastercard) showing a joint account
-copy of bank statement(TD bank) showing a joint account with my wife and a joint account with my step-daughter
-copies of my family's enrollment in the Global entry program, we were all accepted.
-copy of letter from my employer showing my wife as my primary beneficiary
-copy of my retirement portfolio statement showing my wife as my primary beneficiary
-copy of our flight itinerary on 11/19/12 to santiago to show the newborn baby to wife's family
-copies of photographs taken during our 2 1/2 year marriage in various locations.
