  1. Filling out I-864. So currently I have a good job that passes the poverty level no problem. However part of 2011 I was on unemployment so my income is about 500.00 short of the minimum for (4) dependents.

I printed out my pay stubs from 6/2011- 6/2012 showing that my paystubs more than surpass the poverty level and my CURRENT ANNUAL income passes it.

For the taxes of 2011 though im just short. Do you think I still need to do a I-864a? I can add my husband as he is on the taxes, but do I need to???

Do they go by the current income or the taxes? Sounds like Current, but im afraid they might look at taxes and say no way. Advice?

I just did my interview on June 21, and was told to return with a joint sponsor. My husband's 2011 tax returns were below the required level, so even though his current income is more than enough the IO said they focus on the income shown on the tax return. The US embassy in Kingston seems to be strict about that, so my advice: if your most recent tax return is below the required level, get a joint sponsor and let the beneficiary take that paperwork to the interview.

  2. Husband's POE is tomorrow through Newark, NJ! YAY!!!! Hope it all goes smoothly...

    Good luck to you all.

    CONGRATULATIONS! Yayyyy!!!

Visa in hand...they REALLY don't want you to open the yellow envelope LOL. There's a stamp on one side that says "do not open", they've taped the seam and ink stamped it twice (and signed the stamps), and then on the other side they've got a big white piece of paper that says "do not open." Yeah, I'm going to go ahead and leave it alone

ROFL! I've read here on VJ about a beneficiary whose PARENT - 1st language English - saw the 'DO NOT OPEN' and still opened it. Just because. headbonk.gif

POE is done.it went smooth.driving to Virginia.4 hours left till I reach home.hubby had to sign a form with me when I was doing POE.I miss by dad.he is crying for me.im going back to Canada next month June 27 for his surgery.

  3. How long is she going to be visiting with you after you're married? The USCIS takes an average of 5 months to approve a petition. She'll probably be given 6 months in the USA when she arrives on a B1/B2, but it's usually not advised to stay that long.

The NVC stage is really all about collecting and verifying documents before sending them on to the consulate. It doesn't matter WHERE she fills out the forms. However you want them to have the most up-to-date information possible. There'll be a lot of time for her to fill out the Immigrant Visa Application form and sign it, to have it sent in to the NVC. Her Choice of Agent designation can be sent via email. If there is some sort of express mail/courier service available to her in Jordan, then she can send you the hardcopy documents for the NVC once the petition has been approved by the USCIS.

I hope I understood your question correctly :)

Just in case you haven't seen this, here's an easy guide here on VJ: http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/EZGuideSpouse. Very helpful.

  6. I had my medical today at Andrews Memorial Hospital in Kingston. It was an ALL-DAY process! I've detailed the process below, but here's the summary:

    1. Carry a good book, a snack and a drink/water. I was there from 9:05 am to 3:25 pm.
    2. COSTS: JAD$17,650 / USD$202.88

    • Medical - JAD$9,900
    • Tetanus vaccine - JAD$4,80
    • MMR vaccine - JAD$1,200
    • Varicella vaccine - JAD$1,750

    DETAILED STORY

I got there at about 9:05 am. They had told me on the phone that they do visa medicals from 10-12 a.m., and it's on a first-come-first-served basis. So I thought I'd be early. Wrong! There were MANY people there ahead of me. One lady I spoke with, told me that she was told they do visa medicals from 8-10 a.m.

They directed me to the main office where I gave my name and they registered me. The agent instructed me to write my name on the back of all 4 photos, verified that I had a filled-out medical exam form, my passport valid for at least 6 months, and my visa interview letter, then told me to wait outside and listen for my name.

At LEAST 1.5 hours later (!!!) I was called back into the office. Another agent took my paperwork, passport and photos and gave me paperwork and instructions for my labs. I was to do a blood test and a chest x-ray.

The blood test was done pretty quickly. I had to then go BACK to the main office area, wait AGAIN for my name to be called by a nurse, who took my vitals... weight, height, blood pressure, temperature. Then I got more paperwork and was sent off to the radiology dept. for my chest x-ray.

In that department, I gave the agent the paperwork and my passport, and was, again, told to wait. After another 20 minutes, I was sent to another waiting area, where I WAITED for about half an hour before I was called to do the x-ray.

X-rays took about 20 minutes to get done, and I made my way back to the main office area, where I WAITED for over an hour to be examined by the doctor. She looked at my history, filled out paperwork, looked at the additional records I had brought and asked me some questions, then did the exam. It was routine - eyes, ears, mouth, breathing, knees, lymph nodes, feet, breast exam, etc. Then we discussed my history (I've had measles twice, never had chicken pox, I'm in my 40s - and sent me to get the tetanus/diptheria, MMR, and varicella (chicken pox) shots.

I had to wait for at least 45 minutes to get those 3 shots... then I was done. At 3:25 pm I was walking out of the hospital.

  7. Yes, people have waited for 2 and sometimes more weeks. Just keep calling everyday. Calling the NVC is going to become your new 9-5 job! And ignore them when they say "15-20 days". Keep calling anyway.

Check out this thread: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/365453-nvc-filers-may-2012/ and hang out there. You'll see the various scenarios people encounter at NVC, and you'll get a lot of help/support through this stage. If nothing else, read the 1st 2 posts in that thread.

Blessings and stay persistent and patient!

  8. YAYYYYY!!! The interview today in Trinidad went SO smoothly! My husband just called. They only asked him what my name is, when we met, and if my address is the same. He plays basketball and is really tall so the employees at the embassy made him sign the back of one of the passport photos so that they "don't have to pay for it if he goes pro".

What a huge relief. He will be back next weekend!!!! :)

Thanks to all for the support and encouragement throughout this process. Couldn't have done it without VJ.

    Congratulations! That's great news!!!kicking.gifkicking.gif

  9. ok great thanks...i had ordered my tax transcripts last month and he had an email i made for him a long time ago. Babygurl, do u think i shoul fill out the affidavite of support and the ds-3032 now?

You COULD start filling out the Affidavit of Support form, but it's a little bit early. Definitely make sure you know where your pay stubs are, so that you'll have them on hand if you're submitting one or more as evidence. Also if you decide that you want to include a letter of employment, you could prepare to get that done in a little while.

I don't think that the DS-3032 isn't urgent at this stage: your husband can email that to the NVC as soon as they've assigned their case number to your file. The template for doing that is here: DS-3032 Email Template.

Start working on the additional evidence he'll carry to the interview - pictures, call logs, etc. Just take your time and get this done, and you'll be in good shape by the time you get NOA2 and your case hits NVC.

    All the best!

  10. No turnin back now, Fed Ex is gone and so is the envlope B-)B-)B-)B-)B-)

Congrats, you did it! yes.gif So now's the time to learn as much as you can about the process. Take your time and begin to gather the documents you're gonna need for the next steps in a few months. Stay positive, pray, practise patience, and stay on VisaJourney! This website is gonna be your best friend! laughing.gif Blessings and all the best on your journey.

  11. Six days after text approval NVC has received my case! Just need to enter it into the system. Will call back by monday in order to give them our email addresses hopefully and get the ball moving!

So the NVC journey has begun for you! That's great! And you're right: as soon as they give you the case number, ask them also for the Invoice Number, AND give them the email addresses. Then you can start stalking the payment portal to see when your invoices are generated.

AND very important - you can email your Choice of Agent information as soon as you've gotten your case number.

they did i wonder if they recieved mines :crying:

Can you or your spouse call and check? Call them every day. Babygurl's case is a little bit unusual - for most other people it's been taking weeks between NOA2 and NVC receiving the case, then inputting it into their system. Just try to keep calling and stay positive.

  12. Hello - again

I can't locate any recent topics on this subject for JA filers. Can any of you tell me how much it costs for express? And can you do this in St. Mary?

    P.S.

    This process is so fun!!

The cost for 5-day express service is $2,000, which you can pay at any tax office. There's a processing office in Pompano Bay St. Mary where you can get the fingerprints done, and you can collect the certificate in 5 business days. Here's a link to the information, from the Jamaica Constabulary Force website: How to Obtain A Police Certificate

  13. Hi

I wanted to share our great week!

NVC received our IV package on May 4th.

Monday - I called to get an update. NVC told us to wait 20 days, as usual.

Tuesday - NVC told us CASE COMPLETE (that was a fast 20 days! LOL) They also told us that we might have a chance of getting a June interview if we got to the front of the "line" this week. Otherwise, we would have to wait for a July interview date. :(

I decided to give the NVC a break and didn't call until today...

Friday - I called in the morning and NVC said no interview date. He had no idea when we would get one. He did say our file had been sent to London, which was curious to me because I thought it only gets sent after the interview is scheduled.

Later in the day, I decided to try the DOS rather than the NVC. I figured they'd had all day to schedule our interview  Surprise, surprise....they told me we had an interview date on June 14th!! YEA!!!!!!!!!!! They also asked if I had called earlier in the day....I guess they share a database with NVC!

We got the email confirmation shortly after this.

So there it is; a great week and the light at the end of the tunnel is getting brighter. Now it's my hubby's turn...he has to go for medical and interview.

Just one question - I see some people track when their file leaves the NVC and when the Embassy gets it. Is there a reason for this other than to keep following your file and making sure the file is there before the interview?

Good luck to everybody still waiting for "something".

I know we aren't done yet, but thanks to this forum (especially Saylin!!! ) we got through this stage without a hitch - all the experiences and ideas really helped us!

Cheers and have a great weekend, Lori

Sorry if this was too long and rambling.....just wanted to share....

Congrats on a fabulous week! kicking.gif

I just called NVc and that guy didnt sound happy at all, i think he needs some coffee big time. i didnt even understand wat he was saying, he was draging and talking. So i take it my case isn't complete yet. i think cus again lolll i honestly counldnt understand his drag talking, n then after i said thank all i heard was nuthing, he hung up. oh well i didnt expect good news anywayz. maybe i should leave them along and wait for the interview email. Good night ppes n grate for every one who had a good week at NVC. you deserved it.

You never know... You'll probably get a more helpful operator next time you call. Don't let the less-than-stellar ones discourage you. Have a great weekend!

  14. In my excitement I write the wrong time its 8:30am not pm :bonk: . Im sure nobody noticed as well.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!! Happy for you! OK, a little jealous too, cuz we're the same embassy and you got an earlier date than I did ohmy.gif But my happiness for you outweighs that, because God knows what he's doing! Have a great interview and go see your hubby off to his deployment! Yay!!!kicking.gif

Hi all...congrats to all with good news!

I have been mia for about a week.

Well, after paid IV bill, the ds-260 appeared. So was waiting for husband to go online. (In Syria, they do not have home internet unless wealthy) so he was very sick....so I waited. Then we finally started on Tuesday....took 3 hours to get half way through! OMG! Remember, it was 4 am his time....and he is sitting at an internet cafe! so, he went home to sleep.....Wednesday....he was supposed to go online with me to finish....he never showed....didn't hear anything....i was pissed! Today....he went online, we finished it....emailed all the supporting documents....but get this....I was so mad...and i told him....and here is the reason (which makes me cry)He said "do you know what is going on here? I don't think you do! I could not leave my home! There are times, when I cannot go outside" O...M...G.... his life is at risk everyday....and it just sucks that they don't rush him through because of it. Can you imagine not being able to go outside for fear of being killed? I asked him why he didn't text me....but I already know he cannot speak of it. We have to be very careful of what is said....

So, sorry for the story....but just thought I would share. I only want him here. Safe.

I really hope this process speeds up for you so you can have hubby safely snuggled with you... out of that situation. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers.

shot records is fun. Since one is getting shots, it makes sense to have a secondary record made.

The PRIMARY record goes into the medical sealed file (which you never, ever see again)

    and

now one has another shot record, exactly like the first one, except it's:

    1. accessible

    2. usable

    3. easy to show to others

if'n one has a job with children, for example, or in the medical profession, one has to show a shot record, yearly.

usually, a secondary shot record is free. saves a hassle later...

[well, i got the shots in haiti, but all the record is sealed, why don't you believe me?]

In China one is charged 10 to 20 RMB (1.8 to 3.5 usd) for the secondary record.

Perhaps I'm using improper language? when I write 'secondary record' I really mean 'an official original that one can carry'

Such great advice Darnelle... as usual! I'll be taking your instructions with me to my medical. Thanks!!!

Guys, just wanted to share my happiness with all of you. Picked up my passport/visa as well as the sealed envelope. Flying on the 24th.

I wish you all good luck in the remaining part of your journey, and may you all get approvals soon. God bless!

Congrats on the end of this phase of your journey! Blessings!

  15. Saylin,

I've read through your posts and all the responses, and I'll be praying for you as you go through this journey. I'm happy to see where your mindset is at right now, even as your heart continues to hurt.

I pray that God will give you much wisdom and the grace and strength you need to make it through each step. Believe me: having made your decision and now that you're in the process of working through your next steps, you only need to focus on ONE step a time. Anything more than that, you may find a bit overwhelming. I pray that God will flood your heart with His peace to keep you through the difficult moments, each and every day.

Bless you girl. You have been SUCH a blessing. As we say in Jamaica... "Walk good".

  16. The day is here. Will be leaving in an hour for my interview. There's a strange calmness in me. Hope to give you all the good news soon.

Looking forward to hearing the good news!

Recently I haven't called nvc n things have gone perfectly. I think the last time I called was when I got my case number, I feel like if I call now I'd jinks myself. After nvc gets all ur payment n ur last packet how long does it take for case complete? I leave in 2weeks n a few days for vacation n don't want to drag along all my docs, do u guys think in the next 2 and a half weeks I'd get a case complete. its not that I'm trying to rush but if I don't get a case complete I'm walking with every thing I have that they might need. I can see myself now on the beaches relaxing with a drink n nvc emails my phone, I'd run so quick ud think it abmatter of life or death lolll. Maybe I'm thinking too much.

My case was complete within 3 days of NVC receiving my IV packet. I figure 5 days is a safe ballpark. What documents do you think you're gonna need when you go on vacation? Once your case is complete it's really a matter of your interview being scheduled... unless I'm missing something...

  17. OK, I woke up today late, long story, I lost my job on Friday, Things are not going well with the wife either, life seems to be at its lowest point right now. But today I guess there was some positivity. I got an email back after my NVC inquiry. They sent me the AOS Invoice and the choice of agent form. I was happy to finally receive my NVC case number. I first sent the opt in email for the electronic processing. Next I paid the AOS fee. I then printed out my AOS Document coversheet and was now going to email my AOS package. But I remember I should wait for the opt in email to be accepted first? I did receive the auto response. I then went to the forms portal and filled out the Choice of Agent form. What is the next step, wait for EP to be accepted? Everything is happening at once!

Thanks guys. I hope it is smooth journey from here. I just hope that this gets done with. I really don't want to write a post in the effects of major family changes forum. Please pray for me.

Hi MCM! I posted on your profile last evening because I was wondering how you're doing. So sorry to hear about the job loss and your wife, but very glad to hear that things are finally moving again with NVC. Have prayed for you and will continue to do so. Blessings!

  18. Sitting at work and text message received. Was like what now! YES NOA2 APPROVED!!!!!!!! Cant Stop shaking!! Called my husband and he is so excited! Still Shaking!! Trying not to cry here at work! Just under five months. Praying does really work! Thank you Vermont Service Center for continuing being fast processors!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Congrats!

Now for NVC... and be sure to read and follow the shortcuts... they work! Check here: NVC Filers - May 2012, read the 1st 2 posts in that thread, and be sure to have all your paperwork sorted out and ready. God willing, once you get your NVC case number, it's possible for your case to be completed and ready for scheduling in 1 month.

    Blessings!
