I just had my naturalization ceremony yesterday in a District Court in Memphis, TN. Everything went well. The ceremony was supposed to start at 8:30 am but they were running a little late. They started calling everyone in at around 9:10 am and a court personnel handed over a package to everyone and told them to go sit at an already assigned seat with a seat number. The package had a letter from Obama, a passport application, a card with US national anthem & oath of allegiance and few extra papers. By the time every one was seated, it was already close to 9:45 am. Then they let friends & families come in. There were a total of 59 applicants, out of which 24 were changing their name, including me
. Then the court personnel asked everyone to stand up one by one and introduce themselves. Nothing much, just their name and country of origin. He also told what steps should be taken after the naturalization ceremony and answered any questions that the applicants had. After that the judge introduced himself and told his story about how and when he came to the US. He was a Vietnamese and came here during Vietnamese War. There were few people who came in from Senator's, governor's office as well. The judge also introduced them. Then he asked us to stand up and swear in. The "actual ceremony" took little over 15 minutes, rest was all waiting and introducing but that was worth it . No complains. After the ceremony was completed, we were handed over our certificates and everyone took photos with the judge, US flag. Oh, we were also given a small US flag and a collar pin with two tiny US flags as a souvenir. Then we came out and filled a form for voter registration. I may have missed some things but did write the most important ones.Now the most important thing: What to do after the ceremony? I want to let you guys know one thing so you don't make the same mistake as I did. As everyone is aware that we have to go to the SSA office and update our social security. But what wasn't told to us was that we have to wait at least 10 days before doing that. I went to the SSA office right after my ceremony, waited there for almost an hour only to be told that I can't do it until 10 days after the ceremony. The guy at the window said a lady before me came for the same purpose. Her oath ceremony took place on 15th Aug (30 days ago) and still her current status is not being showed up on their system. So there's no particular time frame as to when your status will be updated on their end
. Can someone here please share their experience of updating their status? How long did you have to wait to get it done?At last, I want to thank everyone in the forum for helping and sharing their experience with each other. I also want to congratulate the ones who have finished their journey with USCIS and best of luck to those who are still in process. Hang in there. Your time is coming

I received my oath ceremony notice in the mail today - September 19, 2016! I'm SO relieved and thankful. Counting down the days. I'm going to update the tracker now.

I just want to tell the group I got my US passport. I'm just waiting for my registration voting card. Tomorrow I will apply for my son's us passport (He is 9 years old) . He is a green card holder. With my Naturalization certificate and my US passport he should be able could get his.

Congrats on your approval!
Just had my interview today.
Documents i took :
1. marriage cert.
2. Copies of USC birth cert and passport.
3. Tax transcripts for last 3 years.
4. My green card and driver's license.
5. I didn't have my Indian passport. So i took copy of my Indian passport.
I parked 1 block away at my company's 2nd building. Lucky me. ;-) Other than that , there should be plenty of parking around the building.
I arrived 30 mins early at 30 N 41st St, Philadelphia, PA 19104 location.
went thru the security and was directed to 2nd floor.
Checked in at front desk. The lady there told me to wait by door no 3.
After waiting for 1 hour , i was called in.
Gentleman took me to his office where 2 other people were present.
He swore me in and asked me to take a seat.
He requested me to present my ids.
I had my DL, GC but not Passport. I gave him the reason why i did not have my passport and presented him with a photocopy of it.
He seemed like he didn't care that much about the missing passport.
Then we proceed to confirm my details on the forms i submitted.
After which he asked me civics/history questions. :

Sorry , thats all i could remember.
After this he tested me on english .
Soon i was told , he is recommending me for approval.
I had to look at a ipad and confirm my details and sign on the screen.
I was told that i will get oath date in mail. Average time is 1 month.
The officer then walked me out , i thanked him.
PS : They did not ask for any other documents. Just IDs.
I hope all who are waiting get their dates soon.

By the way:
- What I carried: tax transcripts, divorce & marriage certificates, bank statements, hubby's naturalization certificate, insurance information to show beneficiary status, and of course: passports, green card, driver's license.
- What he asked to see: green card, driver's license
OK listen up folks: I did my interview this morning! Here's how it went:
- Got to the center (Oakland Park, FL) at 10:00 am. My appointment was for 10:30
- Gave my interview letter & picture ID to the lady at the front desk of the waiting area. After a few minutes she returned my letter & ID and directed me on where to sit and listen for my name.
- At about 10:45 - I think - I'm so bad with remembering time - a gentleman came out and called my name.
- I followed him to his office. He informed me that I was the first person who would be processed with their new electronic system. !!!!! Then he gave me a quick overview of what to expect, then the process began.
The Interview (I'm being a bit dramatic, I know, but I'm hoping to help anyone else who needs to see details of what happened).
- I raised my right hand and swore to be truthful.
- Then the officer gentleman (he was both) reviewed my application with a Fine. Toothed. Comb. I think that's because this was a brand new system and he was checking off my hardcopy application in front of him and comparing it with what's in the system. I pretty much just had to nod and affirm as he went through my application. He didn't really ask me any questions during this phase.
BY THE WAY: My entire file was in front of him. All the information they've compiled from the beginning of my immigration journey to this point was in a manila folder. I even caught a glimpse of the birth certificate I submitted during the I-130 filing. OK, moving on.
- He verified the number of marriages (me 2, my hubby 3) and asked if this was it. Yes, I told him. This has to be it.
- He also verified my travel. I have a lot of short trips reported in my application. The total time away from the country is under the limit and the trips are short, but I still explained to him that up until early last year I was a professional singer working with a touring artist. We chatted about that a bit then he continued.
- Somewhere during the process a lady came into the office and explained to me that she would be observing. Turned out she really was going to help the officer with the new computer system. I'm so glad she did! She pointed out errors and helped him navigate the system.
- Then the gentleman told me it was time for the civics/history test. Even the questions were generated by the new computer system. He told me he'd ask me 10 questions but he ended up stopping at 6:
- What's the name of the national anthem?
- Why are there 13 stripes in the flag?
- At what age can a US citizen vote?
- What major event happened on September 11, 2001 in the US?
- What ocean is on the west coast of the US?
- ... Sorry. I can't remember the 6th question he asked.
- Then came the reading/writing test. I had to read aloud "How many senators..." blah blah blah. Then I had to write the answer as he dictated it to me: "There are one hundred senators" etc.

OK listen up folks: I did my interview this morning! Here's how it went:
- Got to the center (Oakland Park, FL) at 10:00 am. My appointment was for 10:30
- Gave my interview letter & picture ID to the lady at the front desk of the waiting area. After a few minutes she returned my letter & ID and directed me on where to sit and listen for my name.
- At about 10:45 - I think - I'm so bad with remembering time - a gentleman came out and called my name.
- I followed him to his office. He informed me that I was the first person who would be processed with their new electronic system. !!!!! Then he gave me a quick overview of what to expect, then the process began.
The Interview (I'm being a bit dramatic, I know, but I'm hoping to help anyone else who needs to see details of what happened).
- I raised my right hand and swore to be truthful.
- Then the officer gentleman (he was both) reviewed my application with a Fine. Toothed. Comb. I think that's because this was a brand new system and he was checking off my hardcopy application in front of him and comparing it with what's in the system. I pretty much just had to nod and affirm as he went through my application. He didn't really ask me any questions during this phase.
BY THE WAY: My entire file was in front of him. All the information they've compiled from the beginning of my immigration journey to this point was in a manila folder. I even caught a glimpse of the birth certificate I submitted during the I-130 filing. OK, moving on.
- He verified the number of marriages (me 2, my hubby 3) and asked if this was it. Yes, I told him. This has to be it.
- He also verified my travel. I have a lot of short trips reported in my application. The total time away from the country is under the limit and the trips are short, but I still explained to him that up until early last year I was a professional singer working with a touring artist. We chatted about that a bit then he continued.
- Somewhere during the process a lady came into the office and explained to me that she would be observing. Turned out she really was going to help the officer with the new computer system. I'm so glad she did! She pointed out errors and helped him navigate the system.
- Then the gentleman told me it was time for the civics/history test. Even the questions were generated by the new computer system. He told me he'd ask me 10 questions but he ended up stopping at 6:
- What's the name of the national anthem?
- Why are there 13 stripes in the flag?
- At what age can a US citizen vote?
- What major event happened on September 11, 2001 in the US?
- What ocean is on the west coast of the US?
- ... Sorry. I can't remember the 6th question he asked.
- Then came the reading/writing test. I had to read aloud "How many senators..." blah blah blah. Then I had to write the answer as he dictated it to me: "There are one hundred senators" etc.

I just became a US citizen today! Visajourney and everyone sharing their experience and support here have been a great help in my journey to achieve US citizenship.

Oath Ceremony experience:
Checked in at the USCIS office 30mins prior to my schedule. Handed my letter and GC to the officer and he gave me a packet and a number for my seat. There were about 39 people schedule to take oath and I think only 1 didn't show up. Ceremony didn't start until over 30mins later than scheduled because we waited for some people who were late! You'll think it's big day, people should be on time.. But oh well.. The whole ceremony lasted for less than 30mins and we were handed our most awaited naturalization certificate!
Just to add, our families were allowed to take pictures while taking pledge of allegiance and receiving certificate.

Finally. Today I got a text saying my case had been updated. When I logged into my USCIS account I didn't see any new notice. So I went to the Case Status page on USCIS.gov. That's where I saw my case has been updated with this message:
On July 26, 2016, we scheduled an interview for your Form N-400, Application for Naturalization , Receipt Number IOExxxxxxxx. We will mail you an interview notice. Please follow any instructions in the notice.
Not sure why my text message didn't have that information. But I'm happy that there's finally movement on my case. Now I just need to wait and see what date has been scheduled for my interview. Oh, and maybe I should study!!!

Updating with my Biometrics date. The notice is dated 4/29/16 and my appointment is for 5/17. I did not receive an email or text. I saw my case status update then a couple days later we collected the mail from our mail service.

Hi all! I mailed my N-400 application yesterday evening via FedEx, to the Texas courier address. It should be arriving tomorrow evening (Wednesday) by 4:30. I'll update the tracker tonight. Excited and wishing all the best for all April filers!!!

I got my green card in the mail today. They used 2-day Priority Mail (USPS) but even so I was surprised that it actually arrived so quickly after being mailed yesterday. Thank the Lord USPS was apparently having a great day

JUST getting a chance to come back on VisaJourney after my oath ceremony on 9/29/2016! So the ceremony took place at 1:30 pm. My boss 'gifted' me the day off, which was really cool. 161 of us were sworn in. I collected my Naturalization Certificate and headed directly to the area where I could register to vote.
On Saturday 10/1, I applied for my passport and passport card. Today 10/24, I got my passport and voter information card in the mail. So now it feels official. My final move is to update my social security information.
