Do you mean in order to maintain residency?
They need to be living in the US. Living abroad and visiting the US to show they have been there will get their green card revoked. Generally, more than 6 months outside the US starts to look suspicious but what matters more is whether or not there is a pattern (ie did they make a 6 month visit once or are they doing this every year?) and whether or not they are maintaining residency in America.
If they are going to be gone for at least a year but less than 2 they need a re-entry permit. Again, though, if it's a pattern and they are really living abroad and just visiting the US to keep their green card - it won't work for long.
thanks

we got approved ! ,our interview went easy and quickly, thank god !
At first my husband came from US to attend with me the interview and we went there with a lot of evidence, photo albums chats, emails , western union ,tickets , passport stamps .
we got there at 6:30 AM and we entered the embassy at 7:30 am and we left the embassy at 10:30 am .
After they checked the original documents and took my fingerprints they called us for the interview
the consular was so kind and she was always smiling
she said good morning and then she asked my husband r u an american citizen ?
he said yes , r u here on vacation? he said no i am here to attend the interview with my wife . how long have u been married ?he said 2 years .
she didnt ask me a word! and she didnt look at me !!!
, and she didnt ask to see any evidence .
so after she asked my husband these few questions she said ok , CONGRATULATIONS , U R APPROVED
U WILL RECEIVE UR PASSPORT IN ONE WEEK , SO MY HUSBAND ASKED HER NO APP SHE SAID NO , AFTER ONE WEEK U WILL HAVE HER PASSPORT .
AND AFTER ONE WEEK WE RECEIVED MY PASSPORT ...
THANK GOD
OUR INTERVIEW TOOK 3 MINUTES
i hope for everyone the best luck on their interview
P.S IF UR petitioner can come attend with u the interview THIS WILL BE SO MUCH better !!!!

The interview letter has only the name of the Beneficiary - so I guess your are the Beneficiary.
Since the mistype is insignificant, you should not have any issues with Medical and Embassy.
yea i hope so
Hi, My Visa had my named misspelled ( one letter left out), when I called the embassy they said it was fine... Good Luck
thank u for ur help
-
today the nvc emailed us our interview date and it will be on november 29
but we found that they misspelled my middle name , they put N letter instead of H and iam the "Principal Applicant"
my husband called them and they said we cant correct it cause we sent it to the embassy in cairo ...
and its not a problem , make sure that she has her passport and they will check it .
i have 2 questions here : 1. will we face any problems at the embassy?
2. when i go to make the medical examination they will see the interview letter and check the name from it and from my passport and they will find that there is a misspelled letter , will they refuse to start my medical examination or wat???
need ur help

Family Fourth Preference (F4): Brothers and sisters of U.S. citizens, and their spouses and minor children.
Must have been another category.

The question is whether you were married when your father started his petition for you. Presumably you weren't and it was a change in your status during the process. Did your husband immigrate to the US and get citizenship here? Did you withdraw the petition or did he reject it? That will be the key.
Yes when asked if you have applied for a visa before you can say yes and explain the situation. If you withdrew the application then everything should be good. If he rejected it then it will depend on if the VO made notes that you tried to misrepresent yourself in order to get a visa. I expect that he didn't but as before, go to the interview prepared and be completely honest about everything and you should be fine.
.
my husband is an american citizen . when i went there with my father an Officer gave me all my papers back, THE ds230 and all and told me tell ur husband to start on ur paper the cr1 from the US .so when my family was infront of the counselor she didnt ask about me at all , cause my papers was with me not with her.
-
hi , i would like to ask u guys about something...., my father applied for f4 visa for all of us
and they mailed us after 10 years . so my father started on the papers and we went to the interview on december 1 2010 and they they asked me r u married ? so i said yes so the counselor told me ur husband has to start ur paper from the begining " cr1" i told her ok then my parents and my brother and sister got the approval.
my husband started on the cr1 on december 1 2010 , and the nvc finished it on june 1 2011, and we r waiting to get an interview date. my question is , is this story will effect on our case , will it be a red flag?
if the counselor asked me did u apply for a visa before ? i will tell him my father did , but i had to start on my cr1 visa cause i am married , is that right?
plz i need ur help ...

Did anyone get an interview date on november ?
-
The instructions say: "Applicants are advised to schedule their medical examinations no later than 3 weeks prior to the date of the visa interview. Please bring the results to your visa interview. Please do NOT open your results!"
I called the embassy today and the lady said we must mail the sealed envelope along with the rest of the papers.
We're confused. What's the correct instruction?
Thank you.
hi
all u have to do is to make ur medical examinations ok , and after u make it they will give u the envelope after 5 to 7 days and u dont have the right to open it , u will hand it with the rest of the documents " original certificates and its translations "on the day of ur interview
we did that .
all the best wishes
