I had my interview today and got approved    Questions asked: - who is the speaker of the house - for how many years do we elect the president - when was the declaration of independence adopted - who lived in America before the Europeans came - longest river   I forgot the 6th one     The interview was super relaxed, even though I was nervous. I forgot to answer one of the questions on my N400 when he pointed that out, I explained that I didn't answer all, because some were follow up questions that I didn't think needed answering if I said "no". But that's not what I forgot   Oh well, he fixed that and added my answer, changed my job information and had me sign off on the changes. He also confirmed my name change and the closest city for the oath ceremony. Overall, I didn't have to wait long at the office in Fairfax, the interview went by quickly and relaxed, and everyone was super friendly.    To those who have already gotten their oath dates, how long did it take to get the date for your oath ceremony?

I have not gotten the letter today but I did get a notice that my case has been updated. When I checked the status, it didn't show anything on my account yet, but the case status shows that the interview has been scheduled.

wow!!! so when me and my husband decidet to get married and firl for CR-1 then it was on a whim!? not because if you enter the US on a CR-1/ IR-1 visa you get a greencard right away, you are allowed to work right away, it´s cheaper and just ~2 months longer!?
btw, if you make CR-1/IR-1 you have to wait in your homecountry too for the interview. yes, you can go visit your partner in the us, but the interview is in the homecountry of the beneficiary. what you are talking about is a "spontaneous" wedding and then adjustment of status which can be a grey zone. because it´s just legal if the non usc did not enter the USA with the intend to get married and stay! so, OP cannot get married to her boyfriend and then adjust status. they already plan that which makes is illegal...
OP, either do the K-1 (fiance) or CR-1 (spouse/ immediate relative with conditions) and have your fiance/husband stay in the us with you for as long as he is allowed with/without his visa (i don´t kknow how long canadians are allowed to stay) and then have him go back to canada for his interview. that would be the correct and 100% leegal way!
the K-3 is for spouses, but it´s a non immigrant visa and you´d have to AOS in the US which makes it expensive. also it´s normally closed at the NVC and they proceed with the CR-1.

Yeah, I know that. They are probably sent automatic every few months!?
It´s just we´ve been waiting for way to long (as many others) and it´s time for an approval. And then you get random emails reminding you to fill out a timeline you wish you could fill out... I was just in a pretty bad mood this morning

l.iber.tatis got a reaction from EAbbas in Poverty levels going up
sure and if there is no more minimum income requirement everybody can immigrate. even if they can´t afford living in the US! but hey, that´s why there are tax payers, right!? so they can take over if you can´t afford rent, food, health insurance,... anymore. I`m sorry, but the poverty guildeline (just like the 125% of it) is everything but high! that´s what we pay rent per year!!! try to immigrate to austria for example. the poverty guideline for 2 ppl is at least 21500€=27950$! it´s kinda based on rent too, if you have to pay more rent the poverty guideline for immigration rises!!! do you think it would be fair to have the america, austrian, (or wherever you are from) taxpayer pay your bills???? the poverty guideline for immigration has the purpose tho protect the country and it´s citizens! the law and contitution ´don´t have to be fair for the individual, they can´t be fair to the individual!!! because what´s fair to me is unfair to you, right !?!!! the I864 is just one example of many!

You do know that the US embassy in China is, essentially, American soil? It is a US government agency that has access to information obtained by other government branches - such as CBP. Having her come here in the middle of a CR-1 process and then overstay, when you both know perfectly well that she should not be doing that, shows complete disregard from your part towards US immigration and visa regulations. Are you sure you want to send that kind of a message to USCIS in the middle of your CR-1 process?
If she has a tourist visa, she can come and visit you while the CR-1 is being processed and stay until the expiration date of her I-94. She will have to go back to China for her inteview anyway, so just coming and staying here is not an option in that regard either. Being apart is hard, but do this process right and by the book and you'll never have to be apart again. Mess it up, and it can have VERY longlasting consequences on her future possibilities to live with you in the US.
