  1. Hello everyone!

I am new here and hope you can help me with my question. My fiance and I have a very long visa journey. Our NOA1 was dated August 10, 2011. We received our NOA2 only on March 01, 2012 - almost 7 month later. We were so excited about it and were looking forward to other processes to go much faster. But it seems like we have to do everything the hard way :( .

NVC hasn't yet sent my fiance any official papers with KEV#. He had to call them several times during this month and just a couple days ago over the phone they were able to give him our case#.

NVC told my finace that the reason it took them a while to get KEV# is that it is assigned by the local consulate in Ukraine after they receive the actual petition there. Now when we got the number we assumed that the consulate had all the necessary docs and I just needed to call them.

When I called them today they told me that the KEV number is valid but they don't have our case yet. And, after taking my contact info, asked me to call them in a month in case they don't get in touch with me by then.

Why so long? Isn't the process supposed to go much faster after the petition approval? And what's up with the KEV# - who generates it and who sends the official paper stating what our number is?

Thank you all for you help :) !

Can you please update your timeline? It will help those that come after you.

  2. Hmmm, I wish I could know what you are looking for! I want to know about mine as well. BTW we got our case number yesterday, the 4th time my fiance called them!

I wanted to know if they(nvc) send you a letter stating that they received your case. I called again today and the man said they do send one. But then another person told me they never got one, so I guess I will be bugging them daily.

  3. I'm sorry to hear that you got ripped off like that. I hired a lawyer only to do the petition. It cost me $800. When the rfe came, he wanted to charge me extra. I ended up doing it myself. If I had found this website a little sooner, I would have saved that money. Now, when nvc gets my petition, I have to send them an email to tell them that I no longer have a lawyer. Of course they sent the approval letter to him also. I just got it from him yesterday. I received mine on the 29th. He is only 75 miles away. Good luck with your journey

  4. I would like to know do you receive a letter from nvc stating when they receive your approved attention and when it has left them, to do you get all that by calling? I have called 4 times already. More than likely its too early, but from what I have seen, some people slide right through nvc rather fast. For my fiance, he is living in Senegal but from Nigeria. We are trying to time it right as to when to send for his police report. I don't want him to get it too soon and have it expire, or get it too late for the interview. Any advice here will be appreciated. I'm about to pull my hair out waiting! :help:
