  1. Hello everyone,

My wife is petitioning here oldest son who has just finished college in the Philippines and have we a question. We have filled out the I-864 form and are wanting to know if I need to fill out a I-864A form to go along with it? Her income is a little over $28,000 for 2012 and 2012, she did not work in the U.S. in 2011.

Thanks for any help you can provide!!

  2. If you didn't get the hard copy of the 797 you can always ask them to resend it to you. Verify that the address they have is the correct one. Call the USCIS customer service line and they can take care of this for you. I have heard of them resending it in the past to other people. It should not affect your application since the receipt number is proof that you received an i-797.

    Thank you :)

  3. In May of 2012 my wife and I submitted a I-130 to the USCIS for her then 18 year old son who is living in the Philippines. Long story short is we never received the official Receipt Notice (Form I-797) but in July we did receive a email stating it had been received and gave the WAC receipt number. Last week we finally received notice the I-130 was approved and they (USCIS) were sending notification of the approved application/petition to the National Visa Center.

    My questions are:

    1. is it going to be a problem not having the official Receipt Notice (Form I-797) that we never received or is it something we no long need?

    2. How long do you think it will take from the point NVS is notified to interview in Manila?

Thanks for any help in advance!

  4. Hello everyone,

My wife who is a permanent resident and I are beginning the paperwork for her oldest son Angelou who is now 19. I married his mom in 2009 when he was 17 years old and am wondering what would be the best way to do his petition. I have been told that since we were married when he was 17 I can petition him or we can have my wife petition him and I be the joint sponsor. I have a good job and easily meet all the requirements to sponsor, she on the other hand has a good job too but only started in January of this year so no past income taxes for the last 3 years. Any thoughts on this?

    Thank you,

    Dave and Grace

  5. Hello,

My wife needs to go get her CFO sticker in Cebu on Thursday. She has already taken the required courses there, received her visa, has passport and has all required paperwork.

I looked at the CFO website looking to get a address as to where she needs to go in Cebu to get the sticker. The website only shows one address, the one where she took her

seminar. Anybody know if this is the same place that she picks up her sticker too?

  6. my wifes interview is tomorrow at the US Embassy in Manila. i hope she has everything. i just want to say thank you to the folks here in VISA JOURNEY. you people have been a VERY VERY big help.

but i have one more thing to ask:

is there any fees my wife has to pay for before or after the interview?

AND AGAIN THANK YOU VERY MUCH......

My Wife had her IR-1 interview yesterday in Manila. She did not have to pay any additional fee's at the embassy. Good luck......................

  7. Hello and good day to all!

My wife had her IR-1 interview yesterday and was approved, really happy about that but am concerned about one thing. She said after the interview she did not fill out any paperwork, they just told her and a few other people they were done and could go now. She said that before the interview she filled out a paper that had her address on it and they did ask her if this where she lived and if this was her delivery address but that's it. She did not pay a fee for 2Go or anything. Is this normal or something I should be worried about?

I heard/thought that after her being told she was approved she needed to fill out her 2Go delivery form and pay a fee for delivery. Is this correct? Thanks for any help in advance................

  8. We have used Xoom on and off for two years now. I like it because I can deposit the money directly in to my wife's bank account and it's relatively cheap compared to Western Union.

I do not like the exchange rates Xoom gives you, if your sending a large some of money their low exchange rate makes a big difference and it's cheaper to use Western Union with a U.S. Dollar pay out it those situations.

Sometimes Xoom can take a little bit longer to actually get the money into her account, especially if you do the transfer near the weekend.

All in all I like Xoom and do not hesitate to recommend them.

  9. My wife just called and was approved!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

She said they asked her a few basic questions like where I lived, how many times I visited, how long I stayed for and looked at our wedding pictures and that was it.

    Thanks for everybody's support................................

  10. Hello,

My wife's interview is next week. She is bring copies of everything we sent to the NVC, receipts showing our payments, pictures, emails, phone records and so on.......

I know it's sending a lot with her and they will probably not ask for most of this but in case they do she has it.

  11. My wife did not yet have a appointment for a interview yet when she took her medical exam. I went online to St. Luke's website and filled out and printed the registration form and then emailed St. Luke's asking if we need to have a interview appointment prior to taking the medical. They said having a interview appointment is not necessary but just make sure you do have your interview within 3 months of taking the medical. This is what she took with her................

    Passport

    MNL case number

    2"x2" photos

Online registration form from St. Luke's

    Payment fee

X-rays that we had done prior to the medical
