  1. You can change your address at uscis.gov, there is a link on the right side.... Change Your address online. Complete that and you will get a letter in the mail at your new address stating that you changed your address as verification. I moved prior to my NAO2 and this is what I received. The NAO2 once completed was sent to my new address.

  2. As of yet we haven't. This is how our routine has been since October

    October - Visited Canada

    November - She came here

    December - Visted Canada

    January - Visited Canada

    March - She came here

    May - She's coming here.

So far we haven't had trouble, but I still worry.

See thats part of it.....Canada is a whole other ballgame. You can come and go as you please. Thats not the case with other countries....

  3. Thanks guys but did you call them everyday until they assign an interview date or they just automatically email you an interview date and how i need to call them to confirm that my case was shipped to Lagos ?

No we didn't call at all after it completed. It was assigned and an email was sent when the interview was scheduled.

  4. You can file HOH as married if your foreign spouse did not reside in the US for the tax year, and if you had other dependents (children, parents, etc.) who you claimed on the tax form for that year. That's OK.

For the 2011 tax year, you can send an updated tax form using the IRS rules for amending a tax form. If your spouse has a tax ID (ITIN or SSN), you can update the taxes to show married filing joint, or you can choose to file married filing separately, whichever one makes the most sense to you.

For the interview, simply explain that you made a mistake and show what you have done so far to fix the mistake. People make that mistake all the time, sometimes relying on advice from ignorant tax preparers.

I was curious about this too. I sent all my documents to NVC and did not get an RFE and I filed single head of household. I read online and talked to a representative at HR Block whom I have used the past 8 years that because he was a non-resident that I could file as single. Once he is here it is another story. Will see at his interview in a couple of weeks if it becomes an issue, but I doubt it will as it was looked over by the NVC with no RFE.

I've been to China, Japan, and Vietnam, but still the strangest food I've ever eaten was "Brown Bread", which is a common food among the older generation in New England. I just couldn't get used to the fact that this bread comes in a can.

I lived in Canada and they used to sell it there, lol.... heavy and a bolder.....lol

  6. Once you have a US passport you will have to use that passport. Because if you use your other passport, I believe you would have to have your resident alien card along with it to enter into the US again. I traveled outside the US on two occasions and had to get a visa for that country, but when I returned each time, at customs and immigration I had to show both my passport and resident alien card to show proof of living in the US. So I suppose my suggestion would be travel with your US passport only.

  7. would need more information. Was it for a spouse, or a family member? Is the petitioner a resident alien or a US citizen? These things are important when asking these questions because they make a difference in the length of time and processing.

sorry I see the petitioners brother is who he was petitioning for. I would contact the USCIS and ask. Another important factor would be if the petitioner is american.

  8. a friends brother applied for i-130(petition for alien relative)for him since 2009 till now 2013 they ve not heard from uscis only the notice of action. where do they go from there? ideas, information will be highly appreciated

  9. Hello,

Me and my Wife are about to file form I-864 and are confused about the filing of the I-864A. My wife doesn't make enough money to sponsor me all by herself recording to the last W-2 form. So i asked my friend to do it and he agreed. My question is now, do both of them have to file I-864 or only my friend, or does the I-864A work without us having the same principal residence?

I hope you guys can help me with this, thank you very much!

Both of them would fill out a form and submit supporting documentation. They do not have to live at the same residence.

  10. Wow,that was quick. All the best to you and your husband.Congratulations!

It helped that he was able to email things and send documents DSL to me to forward to NVC. We paid all fees online and I frontloaded documents. Am sure your interview date will be coming soon, you case was completed just shortly after mine. I didn't even have to call for an interview date, it was emailed to myself and my husband. The email will show all documents they received,(except the frontloaded supportive documnts) and will also tell your husband what he needs to bring with him. Hope to see you soon on board with an interview date.

  11. Quite likely, My interview was April 12th or something like that, and my oath ceremony was May 19th......Good luck!!!!

On the day of your oath ceremony be prepared for a long wait and a lot of people. There were over 700 people taking the oath at my ceremony, We all take the oath at the same time......so thats good news....smiles... Oh and you have to pay like $20 for parking which is not included.

  12. Thanks! In that case we'll just keep our fingers crossed that they can schedule the oath for a date in May.

  13. I see. I would guess that if the OP wanted information specific to only his/her visa, then that info would have been included in the title. As it appears, the responses here feel like teasing a room full of tigers. We have waited so long. I am seriously very concerned about our being penalized because of the delays--having to redo medical exams or whatever, for example. Costly penalties. This week marks 2 years that we made our very first steps in this process. If only we had known then...

The OP posted in the CR1/IR1 forum, not the K1 forum. So the answers they have received are correct. The K1 process is different... all together..... honestly you seem to be getting upset, when in fact you are looking in the wrong forum.....

  14. Does anyone know if the USCIS field office in Lawrence, MA offers same day oath ceremonies? My husband will have his citizenship interview there in three weeks. He is eager to become citizen as soon as possible so that we can finally upgrade our F2A case into IR.

I did my citizenship interview in Lawrence MA just shy of 2 years ago and no, they had me come back not to Lawrence but to Worchester, MA for my oath ceremony 1 month later. I received a purple or pink slip that had the oath ceremony date, time and what to bring at the interview prior to leaving.

  15. Yes, I've read that too that's already gone to 1 year from the date you receive the NOA1. Purely unacceptable and unfair treatment for us who filed the legal way while the illegals are being attended first :( :( :(

For the OP:given the one year waiting span, just take the job. Anyway, you can have an estimate already as to when your application will be adjudicated. God bless you in your journey!

I would take a job and wait it out. Given there is a long waiting period for petitions to be approved and then an interview scheduled and then the possibility of denial.... it is advised when starting the process not to let go of personal belongings or quitting jobs until your visa is actually approved. I do wish you the best of luck in your journey, but keeping a job will not only make you feel useful, smiles, but be security in the worst case scenario.....

  16. It is illegal for another country to take and destroy another countries passport. They review the passport pages at the interview for traveling and such. Then hand them back to you. Nothing else is done with foreigner passports other than checking them.

Correct, but I never said they requested it to destroy it. I said they never requested mine at all. They never requested at the interview nor at the ceremony. However, it may just be because I was Canadian and all the years prior with a green card you were not required to have a passport to travel to and fro. All they asked was for the dates on the application in which I was in and out of the country and the length of time.
