    cchhat01 got a reaction from JK & RB in N-400 - March 2017 Filers
Interview was good. Got sheet that says recommended for approval.
We did end up taking the most recent 3 years of tax returns, even though we had submitted them (2013 was swapped out for 2016).
We also took bank statements for the time spent waiting since application was filed to the interview date.
Originals of Naturalization Certificate, Marriage Certificate, etc

The interviewer looked as if the last thing he wanted to do was interview. He was more interested in some game he was watching on his computer.
My wife swears she wasn't asked the 6 questions necessary to pass. He did review the application and verified things like phone number, address, etc.
All things said and done, he said the application was approved. Funny thing is that they provide you with a printout that says your application has been recommended for approval.

My wife asked is she can be scheduled for oath in the next few days, he said it wouldn't be possible because they are fully booked for the next coming month. We raised a concern that because we have a trip coming up during thanksgiving, we would prefer to get the oath either much before the trip so we have enough time to apply for the passport (and forego the necessity to get a schengen visa). The officer replied we would most likely get the oath letter for a date after our trip. He kept the copy of the ticket and made notes on the account for the scheduling of the oath. So we'll see what we get.

That's the gist of it. Now we wait some more.

Her visa will be granted as any citizen of India wanting to visit the EU. You will need to apply for the visa at the country you will be visiting's Consulate here in the US. Most of them either require you to go in person or use a visa company that hand carries her passport and application to the Consulte. Both the Polish and German Consulates for us are in San Francisco, California, as I checked on those for my wife. Once she has a visa to one EU country, it is good for all memebrs of the EU. You can show a copy of her GC and the extension letter to show she is a LPR of the US to help her get the visa. Once she has the visa I would check the airlines to see if they understand the extension letter as it will be the airlines that give you the most trouble--they will either let her on the airplane or not. Given her situation, I would go in person with all documentation submited before hand and copies upon arrival at the Consulate.
    Good luck,
    Dave

8 months after the initial filing, and 7 months after being transferred, god has heard our prayers.
We are finally through with the AOS process...
What worked for us, I can't say for sure. But here's what we did.
On Oct 1, 2012 we made a service request by calling the USCIS national customer care number.
On Oct 4, 2012 we faxed the documents to the Congressman Ackerman and Senator Gillibrand (privacy release form with brief description and I-485 Receipt + Transfer Notice).
On Oct 5, 2012 we sent the documents to Senator Schumer (same docs as above).
Today morning (Oct 10, 2012) we got a call from Congressman Ackerman's office around 10:40 AM asking for my wife's signature on the privacy release form (which I had faxed). Probably they hadn't sent the inquiry on our behalf yet.
Oct 10, 2012 11:30 AM EDT I received an SMS (but no email even though I am registered to receive both forms of notifications) saying that our case status has been updated.
    And voila...
I would like to thank everyone who kept us in their prayers. For those out there who have yet to be approved, just hang in there. Your applications will soon be adjudicated. Have faith.

Buddy, you've come to the party a bit late and in my opinion, you are bit unaware of the rules of this party. If you expected fireworks, sorry not gonna happen. If you expected verizon LTE speedy processing, not gonna happen.
You could get lucky and have your application processed by your local USCIS adjudication facility, which in my case in New York (and is processing files incredibly faster than the CSC for the past 3-4 months).
Look, I'm not trying to pin you down. I'm just trying to open your eyes.
It has been said many times here. Here's the best explanation that I've seen.
Pretend you're in a shop buying groceries and there are several cashiers but all lines are equally long. You're placed in a random line (and you don't really have a choice here, though exceptions apply).
You could end up in a line where the cashier is taking forever to ring someone up and bag things up, or you could end up in a queue where most people have very few things to buy and is being processed by the fastest cashier out there. Lot has to do with luck.
Bottom line is every processing center is different and every case is different.
Right now, they are just dumping cases into the CSC. Its looking horrible. Take a look at this: http://dashboard.uscis.gov/index.cfm?formtype=9&office=2&charttype=1
Just pray you do not end up there!

Right now, they are just dumping cases into the CSC. Its looking horrible. Take a look at this: http://dashboard.uscis.gov/index.cfm?formtype=9&office=2&charttype=1
Just pray you do not end up there!

I disagree with the above and would enter the country of issuance as the United States, provided that the form also allows you to state your country of citizenship under a separate question.
If it has a separate question then, Country of Citizenship = India, Country of Issuance = United States. If there is only one question then that would seem to indicate it should be Country of Issuance = India.
It is an ambiguous question, since it could be interpreted as (1) which government issued the passport, or (2) which country was the passport issued in.

Day in, day out, just couldn't shut my mouth
This thing called NOA2, it's what I'm all about
I was pretty ecstatic when we got our NOA1
But waiting for NOA2 sucked out all the fun
Everyday, I login to check the processing charts
It's gotten too slow man, it's breaking my heart
My fiance and I filed our application last July
NOA2 aint here yet and I'm wondering why
Think it's pathetic for me to even write this song?
Sorry dude, I'm just in love and I can't wait for too long!
So come on CSC, stop keeping me waiting'!
Speed up and I promise you, I won't be hatin'.
    NOA2, WE'RE READY FOR YOU!

Thank god someone else said this before I responded.
I wouldn't say it so bluntly but the point would be the same.
    VSC has always lagged.
    to the OP:
When you filed in March, the waiting time between NOA1 and NOA2 was near 5-6 months. You should be happy that they have sped up.
I for one feel like they have picked up the pace quite a lot compared to 2-3 months ago.
However, CSC and TSC are faster than both VSC by about a month if not more.
OP, your approval should be on the cards any day, you can see that people on Igor's list who have recently been approved ar around your dates.
    So Hang in there.

cchhat01 got a reaction from Deputy Purple in Sad and frustrated! NOA 2 approved june 13. Case not received at NVC
Please don't flame me for posting the following but I'd like to point something out to those who were approved in June time frame above and have waited less than 5 months between NOA1 and NOA2.
CSC is already fast enough in approving these petitions. There is a slight delay in getting these approved petitions to the NVC. I know the timeframe is a bit out of normal. I don't think its completely out of the ordinary for these applications to be forwarded to the NVC with a delay.
Bottom line is that up until a few months ago (when I filed), I was ready and prepared for a 6+ months time between the NOA1 and NOA2. Its alway easy to gripe about something than to be patient. I think if we all show a bit of patience even while dealing with these delays, it will make the journey that much more pleasant.
Some of you have overcome that hurdle in less than 3 months. Please be thankful for that. We may never understand what is happening at the CSC which is adding to the delay. But nevertheless, I too hope that the cases move to the NVC quickly, now that the petitions are approved.

Ryna is wrong you have the option as long as you have your marriage certificate with you when you request the SSN in married name.

Yes, I'm correct. I am one of very many who applied for, and received, their SSN in their married name. If you are told no by the clerk handling your case you show them their own policy document. If you still meet with a brick wall then you request an escalation to a supervisor. If there's one thing I've found in my dealings with US services, it's that they're not very knowledgeable of their own policy and procedure.

Why on earth would you do that? It cannot possibly make any difference. Sure, date it for 04/08
Just a guess, but I think the RFEs you get will not be for the date on the check. It does not matter in any way what date is on the check.
