Scott & Annie got a reaction from kiky in i-485 Name change for Spouse and Child
We had the same situation with my stepdaughter. You will need to use his birth name (his mothers maiden name) throughout the process, including SS Card until you legally adopt him, or get some other court order changing his name. We had no problems doing this for AOS or ROC.
I would suggest you get your wife's SS Card changed to her married name before you send in the AOS. Your stepson's SS Card will keep his same birth name.

I'm sorry but I don't believe a word of this story. Normal response of any person would have been to go to police (I don't see any communication issues here to do so) and not to write about it on an immigration forum. Right - murders, heroin... ridiculous.

    Hi,
I think the case number received with LOA is not the one which you can use to track your case status.
You biometrics appointment letter will have a case number, use that number to track your status.

I was confused of this too before I filed ROC. I called three separate times just to confirm about putting my USC daughter from my previous marriage on the 751.
I was told by on three separate phone calls, ONLY children of the alien removing conditions should be listed.

    Same answer as before.
    "Somebody" is wrong... bad information.
NO the child does not get "automatic" citizenship as the father was not a USC at the time of birth.
Child will do AOS and follow along with you (mother) in the process to GC and finally citizenship (after three 3 years of residency)

Aside from green card, you can use either one of these:
    1. passport, visa and I-94 -> license will expire on the date stamped on I-94
    2. EAD card --> license will expire on the date on the card

Sorry Roshiloto - it looks like they lost your medical exam. That sucks It does happen from time to time.
The only thing to do is to get a new one done here in the US. Call around for quotes - it should cost around $200 or less. Good luck.

There is no way to get a refund. You could contact senators or the USCIS ombudsman, or maybe CBP itself and make a formal complaint, so that in the future, a suitable fix to this problem can be found. It will not help you, but you might be able enact change for the future with your story.

You do not need a transit visa if you are simply catching a connecting flight at Narita. Chinook caught her connecting flight at Narita when she was coming here to the U.S. on her K-1 visa. No problem.
For those who say you need a transit visa at Narita, please provide a credible link to back up your assertion.

You need to include your legal name on all your immigration forms. This would be your complete name that is also listed on your birth certificate and any other legal documents. If you have not had any legal name change, you do not need to include anything other than the name that the Philippine government knows you by. Nicknames do not count. It doesn't matter what you name your Facebook account. USCIS and US Department of State are concerned with your legal name and any changes made to your name.

I m not against granting them the status, I am against the fees that is charged.
Being illegal violating all the rules and regulation one gets to get away with $500..... if I do everything legally I have to pay several thousand dollars.
    How does that make sense?
Lot of them make lot more money than you think...... it would had been fair they would be required to pay the same fees any CR1 or K1 applicant is required plus a penalty for using the govt funds until now.
You belive in system where everything is doled out by govt, sorry I do not believe in that system.
I believe in a system which is fair to everyone.

Fees has nothing to be done if their parents committed the crime or they did it themself.
If the cost for DHS is only $500.00 than why the hell rest of the immigrants even temp immigrants looking for H1 visa are charged several thousands?
Ask them to pay the same fee what a K1 or CR1 applicant is paying plus a penalty..... this clearly show Obama has taken this step just for the vote purpose and nothing else.
These kids have already received more than fair share from American Tax payers....lot of them have used the Emergency care and education system.

    Hey everyone,
I just found out that I am pregnant, which is great! However, there are a lot of complications. I am a full-time graduate student and don't wish to stop, and my husband is deploying in a couple of months. I will be pregnant and alone, which is not something we want. Anyone know where to find a full-time companion/nanny to stay while my husband is deployed and while I'm in school? Anyone have any other ideas? I can't go home though I want to coz my insurance is better here and I'd really like to keep staying in school..

The +1 feature has become more a popularity contest and less about the value of someone's post in adding to the discussion. If instead, the question was worded, "Was this post helpful?" that would be more specific as to what people are voting on, so you could say, 'yes' to post that you may not agree with as far as what they've stated, because they actually added value to the discussion.

I would just try not to get baited to pile on.
When I read a thread and towards the end it's a bunch of posts piling on about one miniscule aspect of a term someone said, be it the OP or someone else, I just move on my merry way.
I don't even bother replying to a thread where someone's questions are already addressed. Sometimes I give thumbs up to a particularly informative reply.
I'm here to better understand immigration processes because it interests me.
And every now and then someone has a question that I feel I can answer or OP may benefit from my similar experience that I can share.
If I have nothing valuable to add, I have nothing to add
Beyond that, the rest is just reading material to me

I do not know what you meant by 'file ahead of time', but someone who enters with a K-1 is certainly eligible to apply for their SNN. They are usually advised to wait at least 10 days after entry to make sure their name is in the database. http://www.visajourney.com/content/ssn
Since we are here to be helpful and trying to give people the most accurate answers, I will paraphrase something important I was told before: If you are not confident you understand the question and know the correct answer, it is best for you not to answer and let others that are confident of the answer respond to the question instead. It will avoid confusion and misinformation being given out.

Communicating with an ex wife regarding the welfare and care of the children they have together is normal, but texting and talking about things that have nothing to do with their children should cease now that he's married. The dinner situation and the idle chatter is insensitive as well as rude.
However, try to control your jealousy, she is no threat to you, the ex is with another woman, -- she prefers tuna over sausage. Surely she's aware of your jealousy via your husband, she might be purposely getting under your skin, because you allow it.
