You sound like one of those people who want to rehabilitate the public image of communism.

Stalin and Mao's actions had nothing to do with their ideology, which atheism was a critical aspect of?

Stalin and Mao were atheists and while they didn't blow themselves up they wronged their fellow man in other ways.

It's interesting though how native Americans had their own spiritual beliefs while far separated from what was going on in Europe and Asia. Seems wherever you go in the world, people have supernatural or spiritual beliefs. Why would they stop being atheists in the first place? Either their reasoning was seriously lacking(which to me, doesn't say much for reason=atheism), or there is actually something in humans that make them desire to figure out the unseen.
Of course we know where I stand on this issue. I am also trying to deal with my intellect being insulted here. I shouldn't care and usually do. I have reasoning skills and I believe in God. I don't want to be treated as stupid because of that. I find it unfortunate that people reject the idea of God.

That's only true to you and people who believe the same as you. Many have used reasoning as a means for coming to the belief of a God. When you use reasoning to think about why people do what they do, why people seem to think certain things are unfair or fair in life, and other way too deep thoughts to type out here right now. You will not have answers to those questions that are better than a religious person's answers. Reasoning can lead to different views, not only views that are atheistic. Belief in God or something bigger than us is not at all idiotic.

Read one of Jesus' parables sometime and tell me it is void of reason.

That is true. There is still so much of America I need to visit. I have not been out west at all. Many people might think they'd like to first visit all the American places they can before spending more to go abroad.
In this one country we have tropical locations, deserts, icy mountains, smoky mountains, waterfalls, canyons, and glaciers. That's a lot to see. Yet most people I know wish to travel abroad but can't afford it right now. I have rarely met someone who said they had no desire to visit other countries.

And then Jesus said, “You have heard that it was said, ‘Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.’But I tell you, do not resist an evil person. If anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to them the other cheek also. And if anyone wants to sue you and take your shirt, hand over your coat as well. If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles. Give to the one who asks you, and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you." Matthew 5:38-42
However people do take the old testament words on the subject and misuse it as an excuse to retaliate against people who wrong them. I do believe the eye for eye, tooth for tooth in the old testament is about legal punishment and not individual retaliation.

There's really nothing that can be done unless someone crossed the TOS, then you can just report it. People can disagree or have a different view of any religion that they want to. No one has to agree with me about how I personally view Christianity.
It is very haughty though when someone has to insult those who believe in a religion, over and over. It's also bitter looking. Many religious people are happy in what they believe. I do not feel oppressed, filled with guilt or any other bitter sounding reason for believing what I do. As a Christian, I don't go looking for random opportunities to insult those who don't believe what I do. That's what rude people do. If they say they wouldn't do it in real life, it's even worse. And some religious people here are very rude too, by the way. Don't think I haven't said so before.
Visajourney is not everything in the world. It's a small section of life. Life is much bigger. People here purposely write controversial topics to be discussed. It can be very interesting at times. It's not all bad. Some come to dump their bitterness or frustrations in a way they would not dare do in real life. I find that low and pathetic.
I am not sure if having a separate forum for religion would help any. Some people just want to write what they want, no matter where. I don't know if any of this is really caused by separating Politics and Religion from off topic, since it was mostly about moving controversial topics away from the main Off topic section in general.
I am not sure there are enough people who would like to sincerely and respectfully talk about religion to give it it's own forum.

People wouldn't mess with you if you refrain from posting in your little [public] corners nasty things about other people. Generally speaking of course - I didn't see any of this go down, but it's within character.

I remember her. She has aspergers so she came off as rude and abrasive over just about everything. I think splitting off P & R from the OT Forum has a lot to do with it. Ironically, a lot of the people that hang out here in this forum for religion are self-professed atheists or anti-religion.

I have too much silliness I could write, but I think that means it's my bedtime. Even though where I am is an hour earlier than I'm used to.
I was going to insult / and question his credentials, to prove something - that I am better than him, smarter, faster, richer. I'd even place a bet on it, mates. My degree is way better. But instead I should go to sleep.
