Once I read you're in DC.... yep, you'll have a hell of a difficult time finding IT work as a non-citizen in DC. My husband has been trying to get a DC job (since that's where it'll be easier for me to work) for two years. No luck. We're in Des Moines now. I'd seriously look into moving to another state if at all possible.

Biometrics early walk in attempt at Des Moines thanks to the geniuses at USCIS scheduling my husband's biometrics appointment in Puerto Rico (our mailing address) instead of our physical address (Des Moines):

Total failure. Security guard at ASC was handsdown the most rude federal employee I've ever dealt with. When I attempted to explain the situation (incorrect biometrics location), he said nothing and pointed at the DATE of husband's appointment (June 27th) in the most condescending manner possible. He later told me to call USCIS at their Misinformation Line. Incredible that I can't get a job at USCIS to save my life but an a-hole like that can....

Thankfully, I had also made an Infopass appointment, and so went to talk to the very nice lady there. She said we should change our address with the AR-11 (I did); but I told her that as I still don't have a permanent mailing address in Iowa, I didn't want USCIS sending the very important ROC documents there. I also said that, with my ROC documents, I had enclosed a letter explaining our temporary living situation in Iowa but that our permanent mailing address is in San Juan. She said on the date of his biometrics (27th of June), we could walk in there again and get them done, as the system doesn't allow for early walk-ins in other USCIS offices, only the one you had the appointment to. But, the system allows for the person to get their biometrics done in ANY USCIS office on the day OF their biometrics appointment. So we'll do that. Hopefully they won't screw us over again the day of.

I knew moving would cause USCIS a headache but I'm astounded at how stupidly this has all been done.

My husband filled the online form thing notifying USCIS of his address change, but what's the one I need to fill out (I'm the US citizen)?

We're gonna attempt a early bio walk-in (not because we want them early, but because we're no longer in the same state as the bio letter wants him to get his bio done) this Monday at the local Des Moines office. Wish us luck

Not sure. i entered through a L-1B ans i habe been waiting for three weeks. i wonder if they changed their policy and we are the first to be impacted by the change?

I dunno I got my biometrics letter (to the wrong office no less) today.

I think this might be for people who entered through K-1s, after AOSing they did their biometrics so they don't need to repeat them?

Can I really just ask for a tier 2 officer like that? I'm gonna tell him to try a walk in in Des Moines too.

OP, I can't repeat what others have said in terms of the process, but at least know you figured out things don't work out now rather than later when you've invested a lot of time and $$$.

You need to use the case number on the biometrics letter, not the NOA1.

Ah shoot, so if people aren't getting biometrics letters then what?

Anyone know how long it takes to be able to check case status online? Mine says that the case isn't found yet.

If I understood your post, he has family in the US? that can be a red flag. Can you visit him again? You're going through the toughest consulate, you need to have TONS of GOOD evidence. Also get joint sponsor, arrange this now, since people might be reluctant to volunteer for that

If a person who moves to the US cannot follow simple US rules and laws, I say deport them quickly and I wouldn't mind my tax dollars going towards that. It's not that hard to avoid becoming a criminal.

I think there's a whole lot of scammers. I know a few COs and they've all confirmed it crushes their faith in humanity to have witnessed first hand the scams people pull on each other, but they'll approve cases because they don't have concrete evidence to deny or they're CR1's or whatever....

But another big problem is this; lots of people post here after a divorce, saying their foreign spouse/fiance scammed them. It's often obvious that what happened was a normal, every day breakup of some type (cheating or lying or hey you just don't like living with that person). Moving to another country and facing cultural shock will challenge even the best relationships. It's not a scam.
