I would get the daughter a tourist visa, that way she can visit dad in the meantime. And no she won't have to surrender her tourist visa while a K1 or CR1 (forget K3) processes.

Having lived in both Russia and the US (husband is Russian, I'm a US citizen), I'd say the process to come to the US is much easier, as well as life in general, way less hassles.

Marrying in Russia might be an issue, ZAGS usually likes making people wait 30 days before letting them marry.

Generally none with very few exceptions, assuming you mean DoD or DoS. Even if you were able to get clearance, having had citizenship in another country will delay your getting said clearance and most employers don't wait that long.

I disagree with people here, I used a different mailing address and they sent my biometrics notice to that mailing address AND are now processing it through that service center. File the change of address form but expect some slight issues anyway.

If the job ad specified anywhere that you had to be a US citizen to get the job, won't OP get in trouble for applying for the job when naturalization time comes around ("claiming to be a citizen issues")?

Anyone who's interested in updates, well, we went through a couple of banks, denied again, but our dealer (I co-signed) offer financing for 3.9% interest!! Much better than I expected. We also applied for a Target card so hopefully we can build credit.

I got my NOA1 a bit later than the May filers too. Give it another week or so

No offense OP, but it sounds like his intention is just to get to the US to be with you, so, go for a fiance visa.

We'll be trying to get biometrics done at Des Moines again this Friday, which is the actual date we were supposed to get them done, except different location. I hope they're not as rude this time.

Wait a year or so before trying to buy a house. With poor/no credit, most mortgage brokers either won't look at you, or will want a very high down payment.

That's the plan, I just didn't know if it was enough time to establish a credit history.

Thanks for the advice everyone. On Monday I'm going to be contacting various credit unions here, and another bank we have an account with. We tried to finance through our dealer as well, but I don't know how that'll go. We will offer more money upfront but I don't know how and if that'll affect anything.

I guess I feel sad about it because we're thinking of starting a family soon, so maybe buying a house or something?We also thought good income + no debt = good credit. It's a big issue where we are now to not have credit, because to rent an apartment, we need a credit history, but we need a car to rent a place because nothing here (rural Iowa) is within walking distance.

We've talked about it and it looks like we're going with paying it off (or at least, most of it off) in cash. We've just gotten our first credit card so hopefully we'll establish some history there, and at least be able to rent an apartment. On Monday I'm calling credit unions around. I'm not keen on the idea of borrowing money but it seems like it's the only way to get a credit history.

New twist though: car dealer says he can't sell us the car without a license from that specific state. Anyone dealt with this?

Well how much of a down payment is he willing to make percentage wise? Is the car new or used? You can get a cosigner for a loan. You can also buy a car outright (less ideal, I know) to keep for a few years until you build up enough credit.

We're giving half down on the car, the car is new, and costs $25,000. I don't know anyone who has good credit to be a cosigner . I guess we can pay outright, but that's not an ideal option.

Banks have refused to give us car loans left and right because we don't have a credit history (got our first credit card a week ago), even though my husband is making well into a six figure salary. I don't know what to do. Any advice? I don't work so there's no point in having me apply for a car loan.

I think AP has a lot less to do with Islam or terrorism, and a lot more to do with the fact that certain countries are much more high fraud and/or the authorities are not good about keeping documentation and such up to date or easy to find.
