We just received an email notifying us that our I-129F was approved! USCIS received it October 4th, NOA1 date was October 9th, NOA2 date is January 16th. That's 99 days from NOA1 to NOA2 according to VJ. Good luck to everyone else who's waiting!

    NVC Filers - January 2020

Hi everyone, I think there is hope that the NVC timeline for case review isn't as backed up as shown on the website. I wasn't expecting to hear back for another 2 weeks, but just got our status update and DQ email today. Submitted - 11/27 (this was our first and only submission) DQ'd - 1/14 We received 2 emails at the same time - one titled "Notice regarding your Immigrant Visa Case" and another "Notice regarding your Immigrant Visa Case being Documentarily Qualified." I was worried there would be something incomplete in the documents, but thankfully everything was fine, thanks to all the tips on these forums. A few things I want to summarize that helped: - Make sure all photos/documents are in the right position (not sideways) - Upload any translations in the same file as the original-language documents I also provided the below just in case: - W2 for most recent tax year (not just the tax transcript) - Tax transcripts for last 3 years For those applying from Pakistan: - Police certificate is not needed (I put 'not available' and pasted the description they have for reciprocity on the site) - Marriage certificate, nikkah nama, and nikkah nama translation should all be uploaded in one single file Hope that info helps those submitting documents.

@Moana&medo was just asking a valid question like everyone else does here like you said. Most of us want to find a job as soon as we can due to some financial challenges we face. However correct me if I am wrong, it seems you are annoyed and impatient with your answer. If you feel that way, feel free to ignore such questions. Again like you said, this is a platform where we help each other. We may not have all the answers that we are looking for here but hearing advice and encouragement is much more welcome. Admin, feel free to delete my comment if it is not allowed here. Thanks.

    Anxiety & Excitement!!

We got approved! My fiancé said it was very easy and straight forward. She was only at the embassy for an hour total. They asked for tax returns with the I-134 and then simple conversational questions like “when and how did you meet? What does your fiancé do for a living? What do you like about them? What do you do for a living?” so relieved 😅

Is she in the US illegally?

If she has overstayed and therefore violated the terms of her visa, she has no status. No status = deportable. Her overstay will be forgiven during AoS but until she has NOA1 granting her authorized stay, her marriage to a USC gives her no benefits and she can still be detained if unable to provide papers when asked by authorities.

Now why did the embassy officer not think your relationship was genuine? You need to fix those things before you do anything else. Repeating the same action with the same circumstances will have the same result. I’m surprised you want to have your family’s approval before you marry her. How old are you? You are both adults. If you believe marriage is right for you, just get married.

OMG! We have our interview date!!! ...So I randomly checked Informed Delivery and saw that there’s a letter from USCIS that was delivered YESTERDAY. While my husband was checking the mail I logged into the USCIS Website for the first time in like a month. There was a 1/9/2020 update that our Interview was scheduled and a letter is on the way. Husband returns from mailbox. ...Opened the letter to discover that our Interview is February 19th, 2020. I am floored!

    OCTOBER 2019 AOS Filers

Hello everyone! I just received the update “Case is ready to be scheduled for an interview” after receiving a RFIE on Dec 10 for my birth certificate. They received the response on Dec 28, so it took less then 3 weeks for Uscis to review and approve the case. I wish for all of you out there who got RFEs a quick resolution of this inconvenience and that you can get quickly your ead or interviews!

Case number is meaningless, you can’t get any information out of it. If it was sensitive, USCIS would put username and password around it. I don’t understand, you are so sensitive about case numbers, but you are willing to put of public display your whole immigration timeline, including country where you are from and your local office. You know that’s a lot of info!

Hello everyone, my interview was completed today. However, even though I got the approval, the Uscis made an error and they mistakenly have two profiles for me so they need to link both of the profiles together. Once completed they will send me the oath ceremony invite which could take up to 30 days. There were a lot of people there today and I got to my appointment at 12:30 but the time set for the interview was at 1. I didn’t actually get interviewed until 3pm which took about 30 mins. Questions asked: who is the senator for your state? who is the Vice President? what is the capital of Your state? how many voting members are there for the House of Representatives? What is the constitution? what is the rule of law? Naturalization: 11/06/19 - Filed N-400 Online based on 5 year residency 11/18/19- NOA - Estimated completion August 2020 11/23/19- Biometrics scheduled 11/25/19 - Biometrics letter (scheduled for 12/06) 12/03/19- Biometrics done - Estimated completion changed to July 2020 12/13/19-Interview Scheduled for Jan 15, 2020 1/15/20- Interview completed and approved-Georgia office

    NVC Filers - January 2020

Hi all Just received DQ email. Single submission on November 24 2019 and DQ on January 15 2020. I am a British citizen and my interview will be scheduled at the London consulate. I'd like to make a couple of observations that will hopefully be helpful to those yet to make submissions. Your primary source of information should not be this or any other forum. It should be the State Department website and USCIS. Just because something worked for one VJ member does not mean it will work for you so relying completely on their experience is not advisable. Read the NVC website (every single page of it, including the FAQs, your embassy's page and also your country's document page), read it again, and again, prepare your documents and then go back and cross-check your submission against the website line by line. Pay particular attention to the AOS, read the form carefully and also the guidance on the USCIS website. If in any doubt at all, always use the i-864 (as opposed to any of the other variations). 99% of the rejections I've seen could have been avoided by reading the fine print on the aforementioned websites. If English is not your first language, do not take any chances; get a trusted bilingual friend to check you have not missed or misinterpreted anything. Calling the NVC for a case update is a complete waste of your time and money and will only cause you aggravation. The only time it's worth calling the NVC is if you dispute the information in CEAC and even then it's debatable how much help they will be. If you must call, 7amEST is the best time for reduced wait times in my experience. The NVC will not look at anything (and therefore the clock doesn't start) until you've submitted every single required document. I see so many questions where people assume the clock starts counting from the moment they submit their first document. The one area of inconsistency I have noticed with the NVC is in relation to police certificates. Be prepared to produce a police certificate for every single country in which you've lived since the age of 16. This of course excludes countries where you merely vacationed. The NVC website states that you need to have lived there for >12m for a police certificate to be required but my experience is that they will want to see one for every country you've lived in post-16 so be prepared. If possible, request the certificate in advance of your case being created to save time. And check the country requirements to make sure you request it from the correct authority. Be careful with your scanning. I used the Adobe Scan app on my phone for all my documents and that works well. Basically you need to work on the assumption that anything you do to make the case officer irritated could result in a rejection (e.g. scanning a document in landscape which is read in portrait). Adobe also has an online tool for shrinking the size of PDFs if required. And finally for the love of god, please sign and date your i-864 by hand. It breaks my heart when I see submissions delayed for such a simple mistake. Thank you all for your updates and I hope you all receive good news soon.

Noo don’t think that! To me, and I’m sure to many others too, the spreadsheet, this thread and your knowledge have been very useful during our visa journey. It’s Definitely not a waste of time! I have been following this and the NVC thread even before my I-130 was approved and I have always thought they were very helpful and with nice people. But there always will be people not happy with anything, or that just like to complain. You are doing this for free and spending your time on this, so I appreciate that a lot and I’m sure others do too. So please don’t let bad comments get to you, and take a break if you need to!

Africa is a continent... which country? If the paperwork was never filed properly, you might still be married. If you list the country, members will be able to help you further. Otherwise, look at the reciprocity schedule and see if you have the proper divorce documents. If not, and they are not available, and nothing was filed, well... you are still married. If so, get a lawyer because bigamy is not legal. Do not dig a deeper hole by trying to fix it by yourself.

    Common Law Marriage

Lots of cases this month of people lying on a tourist visa about their marital status... On the plus side, he claimed to be common law married, not necessarily legally married. Depending on local law, this may or may not be an issue IMO. The obvious item is how does one show that the common law marriage was dissolved? If there is no formal process, he may have a chance - the USG can't require documentation that cannot exist. They might still want other evidence, which would obviously be a problem, though. If there is a formal process for dissolving a common law marriage, then they will require documentation of that process. "I lied" or "somebody else put that" will not cut it. Either way, a K-1 is not suggested here. You have the burden to show that you are both free to marry. It may be impossible to show that here. With a CR-1 at least, you have to show a legal marriage. You do not have to show being free to marry, obviously. They may still require evidence or documentation of the dissolution of the common law marriage, but at least you could challenge their decision. With a K-1, you are pretty much stuck once they make their decision and have to start all over. There may or may not be a misrepresentation bar as well, depending on if the misrepresentation is deemed material. I suggest not focusing on pointing fingers at the agent - they will not care one bit as he signed it and showed up for the interview. How it happened doesn't matter.

    Rante Macabre

20 week ultrasound today and met with the doctor after, but of course chaos ensued. Scan was going fine, I had to pee the whole time but they wanted a full bladder. Baby was not being cooperative with positions so we didn't get many good pictures. We found out we're having a girl. After the scans they have us go back to an exam room to discuss what they were seeing in the pictures. While we are waiting for the doctor we start hearing beeping in clusters of three. It sounds like a door bell. They don't stop. After about 10-15 minutes of it going off, one of the nurses opens the door and said "hey guys, we're going to need you to evacuate into the hallway". We head out to the hall. Then we're told to go outside, so we go down three flights of stairs. The fire alarms stop. We head back up three flights of stairs. We're told we need to go back down. So back down three flights of stairs. Five minutes later its confirmed we can go back up. So back up three flights of stairs and into the exam room. Doctor comes in to meet with us. She says that baby is measuring 10 days behind the EDD and 5 days behind the first scan (I have a medical condition that would make this not uncommon). She also says since baby was not cooperative for pictures that they couldn't see the brain or heart structures as well as they'd like. They are doing a referral to a high risk doctor to get a second opinion on both those things just so it doesn't get overlooked. I was in a panicked tizzy a few hours ago, but I'm feeling much calmer and I think it will all be okay. Baby girl is moving around like crazy all the time and her heart rate was good and strong.

Well thank you everyone. I am done pouting. LOL. Honestly this thread started as a place that people all in the sae group with case complete could get together and talk and compare and like embassies get their ducks in a row. It's always been a fun, positive place and I declare people who come here always get approved. It's nice to come together and look at all of us here getting our spouses and children and parents here. I remember when i started back in 2012 there were like 15 of us Nigerian wives all together filing within days of each other and it was a race to the finish for us so one of the wives started the first spreadsheet. But after her husband was approved she went away. Funny that husband then I am divorced from. My current Nigerian husband we celebrate 5 years together in May. And I am still here. Is the spreadsheet an exact science no. But i feel it helps and if nothing else while you wait you have folk just like you waiting, stressing, fusing and ranting. And see they get it. We get it. Same with the NVC Filers thread with all the changes NVC does it's needed to stay on top of what's going on there. I'm not going no where. I don't scare that easy. I will be here as long as I am able. I appreciate you all and thank you for your support, keeping your timelines current and well helping each other.

@dwheels76 Your spreadsheet is actually extremely useful to people that are interested in reading and finding information for themselves instead of automatically asking others to answer their questions. Many people appear to have skipped the introduction to the thread as well as the NVC process outline located in the guides section of VJ. Many questions asked could be answered if people cared to read more and try to locate information. Seems like some also lack the skills needed to effectively analyze data. That’s not your problem nor your fault. Many of us appreciate that you take your time and moderate and do the threads and spreadsheet and give us a place to meet with others at the same stage. Correct me if I’m wrong, but you don’t get PAID to do this. So from all of us that value your work, please keep it up. Some people will just never be happy or satisfied. Ignore them please and don’t let them spoil it for those of us that are able to utilize the information with gratitude. 🥰😘
