  1. Yup, just your packing list and proof of residency (in your passport or your physical green card).
  2. I am one of the people who endorsed my visa and went right back to Canada. I don't believe at any point I said I was going right back, I just showed up and said I was endorsing a CR-1 visa and importing my car. They made me wait for about 45 minutes in secondary, but after that, it was easy peasy. I literally crossed, did a U-turn, and went right back to Canada.
  3. I know you've already made up your mind, but just FYI, you don't get double taxed because there's a tax treaty. I still commute back to Canada for my job (I live near the border). Keeping Canadian employment is not a great situation for multiple reasons, but it's doable.
  4. Sorry, I really don't know. My job has nothing to do with criminal record checks anymore so I'm completely out of the loop with how long it takes. I hope you receive it soon, though!
  5. It could. RCMP admin staff is affected by the strike. However, most detachment should have at least one admin assistant deemed essential (and therefore, still at work). Source: I work there.
  6. Both my and my husband's cards expired during the pandemic. I also couldn't get a remote interview, and my in-person interview was delayed by two years. My husband's renewal was approved without an interview.
  7. You can absolutely endorse the visa and go back to Canada. That's what I did, also at the Windsor/Detroit POE. I literally just did a couple Michigan lefts after leaving the tunnel, and went right back to Canada. The post above me about the IR-1 being denied because she didn't quit her job or tie up loose ends first is extremely unusual. I never quit my job...I still commute back to Canada to work every day and have had zero issues doing so (even during covid). So don't let that post above scare you. I also still had my apartment for another few weeks after moving. Nobody asked me about any of that during the endorsement process. I did import my vehicle at the same time since I was already doing the visa, I figured I might as well do it all at once.
  8. Family One, I think you're probably better off speaking with an immigration lawyer. This situation is uncommon and people here are having difficulty just understanding the question (judging by the other responses here). Best of luck to you during this stressful time. I will be rooting for your child.
  9. I lived on the border when I emigrated, so I went over one evening to endorse the visa, turned back around, then moved the next day. I had no issues doing that at all. I also returned a few more times over the next week to bring in the last bits of my possessions.
  10. We had a U-Haul full of my stuff, and we crossed together. The border officer got out to take a peek and my husband said, "It's really full," as he started to open the back. The officer said, "Oh it is? Never mind!" and let us go. I had my list of what was in each box, but wasn't asked to show it. I endorsed the visa before moving, BTW.
