  1. Hi guys! New-ish member, but I finally filed my K1 packet!! This was after spending 1 month in the Philippines with my fiance. We have been dating online since Aug '21, but were only this past Feb '23 able to meet in person. We spent the entire month together (Feb 1 - Mar 2) and I proposed on Feb 11th. This should be sufficient time together in-person to satisfy the "Meet once in the past two years" stipulation, correct? I want to go back there just so we can spend more time together, but I'm disabled and the long flights played havoc on my body twice already, I'm not sure I could physically handle another trip so soon. I followed all of the guides here on VJ as well as from the USCIS website, but I've been seeing forum posts about "Meeting only once" and was curious if my situation would be similar to the replies they've gotten (although the other posts are usually just for a few days in-person, not an entire month.) So, my fellow visa journey participants... what's the prognosis? TIA! TL;DR: Been dating online for a few years, spent an entire month together in person... is that enough to satisfy the requirements?
  2. As a general rule, I like to be proactive and overprepared as well; I blame the boy scouts lol. This is a great list, thank you so much for this! My gf and I went over some of these last night and we both agreed that we needed to add all of this to our list, and after we meet in Feb we will decide if K1 or CR1 is better for us. Right now the issue is that she has a friends who have gone the K1 and CR1 routes, and both have pro's and con's to them from her viewpoint. She's had friends get approval almost right away on the K1, and then she also has a friend who has been stuck in the Philippines with no updates for 15 months and counting. Same with the CR1. I'll look at all avenue's though, so I appreciate the thought and list you made for us, thank you!
  3. That is solid advice, thank you! My gf has actually been teaching me some Tagalog (man that's a hard language lol) and her local dialect as well, so we're covered here. I should be okay with just the common greetings, farewells, and showing signs of respect to elders (culture) right?
  4. Hi everyone! I hope I'm posting this in the right area. I'll be spending the month of Feb in the Philippines to meet the Filipina I've been talking to/video chatting with for the last 2 years online. My question for the community is what kind of a checklist should I prepare? She and I have already talked about marriage and her coming here to the States if we get along fine, but I want to make sure I do this right. I found the new Master RFE list, so I now know to keep my airline stubs, flight itineraries, and I know to take lots of pictures with the two of us together. What else should I start preparing now? I like being proactive and after reading a lot of the forums about horror stories of constantly being asked for more info, I want to do this all in one shot.
