  1. I did but it won't help me as I'm adjusting from K1. We don't have the same situation
  2. Thank you for your answer. I hope you don't mind me not enclosing the name of the college for obvious privacy reasons. I did contact the international office at this college and told them about my status and not having an EAD and they said it's fine. So you all telling me I should listen to you instead of an official statement from a university? Again thank you for taking the time to reply but as stated above VJ might not be the right place to answer my question. This thread can be taken down as it obviously leads to nothing as there's only your words against mine without any legal base. I'm not lawyer and you guys are neither. I was hoping to find people with the same experience. What I got was answers from people who just like me can only read various internet sources. Thanks again though. Peace out
  3. It's not an internship. If you would have read my post I already pointed out my poor choice of words. It's a CPT and my college gave me the ok for studying without an EAD and while AOS. Look - as long as you're not an immigration lawyer your guess is as good as mine. I appreciate everyone who took the time to reply but I was hoping to find someone here who was going through a similar experience or who is an immigration lawyer.
  4. Thank you all for taking the time to reply. I did however find an answer to my question which I'd like to share with especially those who told me I can't. It might have been my wording or the way I asked about an internship but it's not black and white. The right answer is: it depends. Here is what I found and I do hope this will help others asking the same question as well. In my case the following applies which grants me the ability to study without an EAD and to complete my curriculum: Curricular Practical Training (CPT): F-1 students can be approved by a school's designated school official (DSO) to work for a specific off-campus employer for a specific time period as CPT. In order to qualify for CPT, the work must be an integral part of the established curriculum in the student's course of study. CPT can be approved either for part-time (20 hours or less per week) or full-time employment (for example, in a cooperative situation). DSO approval, and notation of that approval to the student's SEVIS record and Form I-20, are required prior to beginning CPT. 5. Money is no problem but thanks for the tip. Did he have to go through internships too? If so how did he do that without an EAD?
  6. Hi, Is it possible while I'm waiting for AOS from K1 to got to college without an EAD? The college says yes I can take classes. I do however wonder if I am also allowed for an internship which my curriculum requires me to do part-time for 8 weeks. Thanks.
  7. Hi, I was wondering about the EAD. Current wait time for me is 16 months with AOS from I-129f. Is there a way you can still work? I mean what about all the free lancer, influencer, streamer, even book authors, free journalists etc? Can't they do anything in those 16 months? That doesn't make any sense.
  8. I'd like to throw in something that kept us from going the CR1 route. The part of getting married and then stay apart for 2 years. This is not how we wanted to start our lives together and definitely not with an online marriage. we would regret this in 10 years so much therefore we decided to go with the K1 Visa and just wait a few more months. What are a few more months when you spend the rest of you lives together. Yes I have to adjust status. Yes this will take many more months. Yes I cannot travel outside until I have AP. And yes I cannot work. I'm going back to study. I'm going to travel the beautiful country as there are so many places I haven't been to. But it will be worth it to experience all of this together with my husband after we get married. Even if K1 takes longer. Maybe there are some people that feel the same way but I haven't seen anyone here on VJ feeling the same way about marriage and being together, staying together instead of spending the first 2 years married being separated. Everyone is always looking at the logical site and gives logical advice which is fine and makes sense. But maybe that's not for everyone. This is why I wanted to throw in another perspective.
  9. However I do recall from previous tax reports that I was asked if I at any time had foreign assets or money in a bank account exceeding 10k. So yeah you do have to give the IRS information about that
  10. That's all good but I hope you know that apparently you're supposed to report sums over 10.000$ to the IRS? You are also supposed to report any foreign bank account or asset exceeding 10k$ within the tax year even if just for a single day in your tax report. I am not a tax expert by no means. I just did some research and want you to be aware of such things. If you fail to report you will have to pay a fine. As far as I know you don't have to pay taxes on the transfer but you need to report it. I'm meeting with a tax counselor soon to discuss this with him. I use wise or former transfer wise.
