  1. Hi - it's amazing how quickly time passes and how easily we forget. This place was my lifeline for over a year, and now I feel like I have to relearn everything. We got a temporary green card for my husband due to the fact we were shy of two years married when we moved to the U.S. & Come June 2024, my husband's green card will expire, so I am starting to look into the Adjustment of Status process. I feel like I'm on ground 0 again. Can someone point me in the direction of a thread outlining the process (yes, I've tried to search but not seeing anything I'm looking for). If someone could point me in the right direction of where to start, what's needed, timelines, etc. Cheers
  2. Yes! He did. It ended up being about 4 months from when he entered the country though! Took bloody ages but it eventually came.
  3. I haven't read this entire thread so I apologize if this has already been suggested! I submitted a letter where I literally explained to NVC that NZ Police will not issue these vetting results to the individual. Within the letter I imbedded a screenshot of the confirmation email from NZ police and went as far to highlight the specific sentence where they advise you to upload the confirmation email in lieu of the police certificate. It felt a bit silly to have to explain how it works to them and to be making it so obvious but mine got accepted with no issues. When we were going through this I remember others who got another confirmation email from Auckland Consulate stating they had received the vetting results and they seemed to have luck with that. Maybe try contacting Auckland Consulate for advice? Cheers
  4. Yes, he arrived in June. We have been married less than 2 years though so we will have to apply to remove conditions in 2024. What do you propose as a change of name document, usually this is just your marriage certificate which they already have. Do you think a copy of my new ID and a letter suffice?
  5. Yes, this is what I'm worried about... I kept my maiden name & added my husband's surname as well - the CBP officer would have to be pretty silly not to put two and two together but you never know with CBP. I am also filling out the paperwork for a change of address since we just moved and I was planning on filing it out under my new name. I was worried this would cause confusion but surely with my name changed on my social security they will put the pieces together 🤔
  6. So I've finally gone through the chore of changing my name - I've done my ss card and license and just sent off my passport yesterday. As the Sponsor/Petitioner do I have any paperwork that needs to be done with USCIS for this??
  7. Hi all, It's been a while. My husband FINALLY received his green card in the mail (he arrived in June!) and we are finally starting to feel a bit settled. We recently moved to a new City/State & wondering how we go about changing our address with USCIS/NVC ? 1) is it necessary to change it or can we wait until we apply to remove green card conditions - our previous address was at my parents so I'm not concerned about not getting mail more so just concerned about due diligence 2) if we do have to change it - where do we do this, my husband said he updated his USCIS account address but I was under the impression there was a form or something that we needed to complete. Cheers
  8. A wee update already: my husband called USCIS to see if he could reschedule the appointment and asked for an explanation on why this was needed and they told him it’s been happening a lot recently ..for some reason a lot of the ones done at consulates are getting rejected at the moment. They said most likely they weren’t satisfied with the quality of photos or fingerprints taken by the consulate. Very odd indeed.
  9. Hey all! My husband has been in the States since mid June & just feeling blindsided about a biometrics appointment request he received. He has been anxiously awaiting his green card in the mail (he received a notification 15 days ago that it was being produced) and he was surprised by how long it was taking… he just logged back in to find that he had a notice of request for a biometric appointment that they scheduled him in for Sept 7th. I’m just confused if this is normal , I thought I was well versed in this process and we had already ticked every box and finished everything… they already approved his visa. They did a criminal background check back in New Zealand and took his fingerprints at the consulate when he was interviewed… just wanting to know if this is a normal step for everyone as I was not expecting him to have to do another appointment or finger print scan in the U.S. ?
  10. POE is San Francisco and then he's making his way to the east coast! I've never flown through San Francisco so have no idea what their customs area is like.
  11. Hi all, My husband has been granted his CR-1 visa & is set to fly out to join me this Saturday - he's wondering if he goes through the resident/citizen line at Customs when he arrives. Anyone have advice or if this has already been discussed if you could point me to the right thread? Cheers
  12. Hey all! Anyones spouse enter the US recently for the first time with their green card? My husband joins me on Saturday & he’s wondering if he goes through resident/citizen line at customs or if he goes through non resident line???? I figured through the resident line but I haven’t seen anything on it..
  13. My husband just had his interview!!! Approved! Wooooo! They asked him when we met, when we got married, what we do for work, what were his plans for work after arriving in the U.S. - all pretty basic stuff. They asked him why I didn't join him at the interview and he told them I'm flying back on Friday so have lots of packing to do and they thought that was understandable. Oh & they asked him about living in Germany as he lived there 2 years and asked if he had lived anywhere else overseas. It's been 456 days since we first lodged our petition.... feeling lighter today
  14. CONGRATS! So happy for you both. My husband just finished up his medical - a nightmare getting as he flew up from the South Island for it and his flight got delayed 2.5 hours due to fog, he showed up over an hour late to the appointment but they ended up accepting his tardiness and rushing him through. Interview next week... I cannot wait to be done.
