  1. Can I ask a quick question here? What purpose does the ROM serve? Are there any benefits?
  2. Thanks for the response. Can the child have both USA and Philippines passports? Would that make her a dual citizen?
  3. Hi all. Thanks in advance for any help you can offer. I'm a US citizen. My wife is a Philippines citizen, is US permanent resident. Our daughter (toddler) is a US citizen. We're all visiting the Philippines later this year together, and we're thinking about having my wife and daughter stay there for 3-4 months, while I would return to US after only 1 month. After 3-4 months, I would return to the Philippines and we all travel back to US together. Does my daughter need some kind of visa to stay in the Philippines for 3-4 months? Anything else I need to consider?
  4. In 2022, flying from Manila to USA, the luggage-scanner people planted two 9mm bullets in my wife's suitcase. It was an almost brand new bag that had never come into contact with any guns or ammo. I had read about this scam before. I argued a lot. They took us to the on-site police officer, who asked us a bunch of questions and then let us go. The whole ordeal lasted about 45 minutes. I think they intended to plant the bullets in my bag, an American, rather than my Filipina wife's bag, so they could threaten me with jail time and extort me for money. I saw other people there that had their luggage shrink-wrapped prior to placing it on the conveyor belt for scanning. I will always do this in the future. Also, Grab is good, but not as good as Uber or Lyft or whatever here in USA. Definitely use it, but I've had trouble sometimes finding a driver, even in Manila.
  5. Wow, you might be the biggest goods importer in the province. What kind of goods do you send? How do you handle labeling the items on the packing slip?
  6. I can totally see my wife's family going through this. When we had her despedida/engagement party, it seemed like the entire town showed up.
  7. This is great info, thank you very much. Yeah, I guess that's one of the downsides. Understood. Thank you for your response.
  8. Hello everyone. Has anyone sent a balikbayan box to the Philippines recently? My wife and I are preparing to send our first balikbayan box to her family. At LBC, the lady said that we can have maximum 12 of each item. We have, for example, 15 bags of assorted chocolate (Snickers, Twix, etc). We also have 24 new Old Navy shirts of various styles and colors. Can we really only ship 12 of these bags of chocolate? Only 12 shirts? Thanks in advance for any insight you can offer. *edit for the mods: I tried to post this in the Philippines area, but I couldn't figure it out. Could you please move it there?
  9. This is wise advice. Thank you so much for taking the time to explain that to me! I will submit the additional forms with the I-485.
  10. Thanks for the info! I'll check that guide now. But to be sure, the I-765 is for work authorization, and the I-131 is for travel? If my wife does not intend to work or travel any time soon, then I don't need those forms. I'm submitting I-485, I-864, and G-1145.
  11. Hello everyone. A big thank you to anyone who can offer some advice. My wife entered with a K1 in June 2022, and we were married in the US later that same month. For various reasons, we did not file AOS paperwork, but we are ready to do it now. -Aside from the I-485, do we need to file any additional documents due to my wife's unauthorized stay? -Please confirm: we do NOT need to file I-130, correct? -Throughout the I-485, there are fields to enter my wife's A number, but I don't see this anywhere in our documents. Am I missing it? -I-485 item 22 asks for her non-immigrant visa number. Her K1 visa has two numbers that look like possibilities to me; what are the criteria for this number? Should I just list both? -I-485 item 4 asks for receipt number of underlying petition. Is this the WAC number from the K1 petition, or the MNL number from the Manila embassy? -Filing fees are $1140 for the I-485 and $85 for biometrics. Do I submit separate checks, or a single check for $1225? -I was under the impression that we needed to submit lots of evidence of continued relationship, but the I-485 instructions don't mention any of that. Should I submit evidence anyway? Again, thank you thank you thank you to anyone who can help us with this information. Have a great day!
  12. Aggravated discharge of a firearm into an occupied vehicle. It was probably attempted murder and he plead down to this. He was shooting at someone in a car. OP, either way, in order for a K1 to be filed, you must have met in person within 2 years prior to submitting the application, so you'll have to wait until then.
  13. At San Franciso port of entry, I went with my fiancee through the "non-US-citizen" area of immigration. We even went together when the agent called for the next in line. I just said something like "I'm a US citizen, she has a visa, I just want to make sure she gets where she needs to go". It was fine.
