  1. Well, that's me approved folks. I'm now a US Citizen. I've been coming to this website for 15 years now for help and advice and I've got to say it has been an invaluable source for me ... and countless others no doubt. The interview was easy, 5 or 6 questions on history/politics, a few questions on my past (ever been a terrorist etc) and then I was given a same day oath ceremony. 10 mins after the oath, I registered to vote and got an appointment for my passport. Good luck to you, if you're still waiting for your interview. Otherwise, thanks again VisaJourney. You've been great. R.
  2. I went into my USCIS account just now and my case completion estimate has gone from 7 months to 12. Needless to say, I was a little miffed. Then I scrolled down the page and it said Interview Scheduled. So, April 19th in Portland it is. Woohoo. R.
  3. I wish. I'm in Portland, applied December 1st 2020, haven't heard diddly since Feb '21 that biometrics were being reused.
  4. Oh, I wasn't trying to get one today. My need is to get one in June if I don't have the naturalization issue settled by then (latest USCIS estimate is October 2022). I just don't want there to be any over lap on me not being able to leave the country as my dad is elderly and covid is still a threat where he lives..
  5. I thought so, Mike. I'll update the Senator's office to that policy manual.
  6. I applied for citizenship in December 20202, rather than renewing my green card, which was set to expire in June 2021. That made me eligible for a I-551 stamp in my passport because I applied for citizenship more than 6 months before my green card expired. I have an extension until June 2022, the I-551 stamp which I got in June 2021. I'm not sure why they removed the option of getting a I-551 stamp for people who decide to become citizens rather than renew their green card. Another $500+. Sigh.
  7. Hello! I got this response from my senator's office today. I have to get another I-551 stamp in early June to replace the one I got in 2021. I applied for naturalization in December 2020, more than 6 months before my green card expired. "While we wait for the inquiry response from USCIS, I wanted to follow up with you regarding your passport stamp. I looked into the situation and it appears that USCIS is no longer issuing these stamps to extend one’s LPR status. The only way to get an extension now is to submit form I-90 to renew your LPR card. If there is a need to travel once the stamp expires, you have the option to file your I-90 online where they will send you a receipt notice which serves as proof of your extension and you will be authorized to work and travel with that 12-month extension (12 months starting from the date your green card expires). " For real? R.
  8. Try looking for him Ancestry.com. They are usually pretty good with stuff like that. This search form is right on their homepage. I looked for my US born wife and it got her first go.
  9. They have loads of interview lots open in Belfast and they'll have your passport to you in a week. This is really doable. Thanks.
  10. Ah, now that's a really good idea. I'll look into that. If I can expedite it over there, that might be doable. If it takes more than a few days, however, my wife would be pi55ed having to manage the kids on her own. Great idea, though and worth looking into.
  11. Yeah, thought about that one!!! I mean, I'd never do that open purpose, but it's easy to loose a passport and then have it show up, right?
  12. Hello, everyone. I'm not gonna bore you with the details except to say that my GB passport runs out in October, my US green card expired in June and I have a temporary I-551 stamp in my soon to expire passport. My N-400 application has stalled and is now forecast to be granted after my GB passport expires. My dad is back in Northern Ireland and is elderly and - with covid far from over - I want to make sure I can go see him if anything happens, god forbid. So today I decided to renew my GB passport, but I need to send in my old passport, which has my visa in it, and it would be 11-12 weeks before I got my passport back. In other words, I couldn't fly out to the UK at short notice - or anywhere else - for 11-12 weeks. Or what if I lost my job and had to get a new one? That stamp is my proof that I can legally work/live in the USA. What to do? Is there any situation where the UK Govt will allow you to retain your old passport and visa while they send you a new one? Anyone had this experience? Thanks. R.
  13. I feel your pain. I applied December 1st, 2020, down in Portland. They told me they were going to reuse my biometrics a couple of months later and since then, nothing. Well, nothing apart from extending my time to completion out and out and out and out and just a couple of weeks ago it went out to October 2022. Now I'm just looking for people in the same boat as me so I can moan 🙂. R.
