  • Our Story
We met on a cruise that neither one of use wanted to go on back in November 2015 and we've been together every since. We just recently got married in May and are hoping to put an end to our long distance relationship as soon as possible!

  1. We had our interview at San Bernardino last week. It was pretty straight forward, everyone from the security officers to the interviewing officer were very nice. We received the "Case Approved" the next day. Today in the mail we are receiving the official approval letter in the mail. What is the process after that, how long until the Green Card comes? So, back to the interview. I wish we could provide more helpful advice. Our interview was pretty simple & straightforward. We were only asked how we met. And then everything from there was just general chit chat while he cross-checked everything from our IOE application with the paper documents he had in front of him. We went prepared with a TON of paperwork & proof. It was all organized and labeled by category. He just took a few pieces of updated info from it (like latest tax return). We talked about Disney for a while and then that was it. He said "you're good to go, should receive the green card in a few weeks". I think it helped that we have been together for 6 years and married for 2. We also got all the way through to "Documentally Qualified" on the CR1 route before switching to AOS due to my husband being stuck in the US after he came down to visit me late February last year. So I think since we already had several background checks done that may have helped? I don't know. But he's getting the 10yr GC which is really great news for us. It's been a long 2 year process and I'm really excited that we'll be able to bring my husband's stuff down from Canada soon! Good luck to everyone else who is still waiting. I hope it goes very fast for you!
  2. We have our interview on Thursday. Equal parts nervous & excited! We're compiling all of our documentation today. For my I-864, I am brining a copy of what I submitted last year, copies of the supporting documents, AND updated documents (latest tax return, W2, and current paystubs). Is that right? I don't fill out a new I-864, right? Thanks!
  3. We finally got the interview appointment today! May 27th in San Bernardino. I’m excited and nervous! Lots of paperwork to get together!
  4. You’re not alone. My husband had his biometrics taken in early August. He received his EAD two weeks later. But he still hasn’t received his interview and his status has been stuck at “Biometrics Scheduled” since July 28th. He’s feeling super discouraged. But, on a plus note for us, our 2yr anniversary is in 3 weeks, so it looks like he will be getting the 10yr GC. Just trying to find that tiny silver lining in what has been a really tough wait. We actually started applying for the CR1 the week after we got married. But then he flew down February 2020 for was supposed to be a 5 month visit while he waited for his interview in Montreal (Canada had a huge backlog prior to COVID and it was already taking a long time). Then they closed the borders and we decided to switch to AOS since we met the criteria. It was hard changing the visa route since we already waited almost a year and spent so much money. We don’t regret it as we’ve gotten to be together during the lockdowns and border closures. But he also didn’t expect the AOS to take this long and that he’d be without all of his things for over a year. We are going to celebrate big when he finally gets that GC!
  5. Yeah, he’s going to try that later this month. Is it worth him getting his physical sooner rather than later?
  6. We’re still waiting for my husband’s interview appointment. He applied for AOS last April and we’re coming up to the year mark now. When he applied he did not get his medical since we didn’t know how long things would take. But he is contemplating booking his medical now so that he has the paperwork ready when he eventually gets his interview. Is it worth doing that? Will he have time to book his interview & get the report between getting his interview appointment and his actual interview? We’re torn on what to do since they haven’t updated his case since they scheduled him for biometrics back in July. We’re super bummed it’s taking this long since all of his belongs are trapped in Canada without his green card. But we’re also pretty happy that our 2 year anniversary is in a month. So, at least he’ll be getting the 10 year GC when he does eventually get it.
